Chapter 592: Robbed by a Thief

Xu Mumu felt a bit helpless after being approached by people all the way.

When she arrived at the office, Professor Song and Professor Jian were not there; they were probably still in class.

The other teachers in the office knew Xu Mumu; she had been here a few times.

Xu Mumu was waiting on the side, while the little one in her arms couldn’t sit still and kept wanting to go outside and play.

Luckily, Xu Mumu didn’t have to wait long. The class bell rang, and within minutes, Professor Song and the others came over with their lesson plans.

"Mumu, why are you here?" Professor Song asked with a smile, "I’ll hold Doudou."

"Grandpa, do you still have a class later?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile and then mentioned the family’s small gathering planned for later.

"Hmm? Did those kids do well on the exams?" Professor Jian said in surprise; the top science student turned out to be Xu Mumu’s cousin.

"They really did quite well. After your class, just go directly to find my parents and have lunch together. I’ll go find Yin Yang to tell him about this." Xu Mumu nodded, looking at the surprised glances of the other teachers in the office, feeling very proud.

"No problem, we’ll definitely go early." Professor Song nodded with a smile. This kind of thing should certainly be celebrated, and the kids did well on their exams. He wondered if any of them were interested in studying physics; he felt a bit eager to teach them.

"I really want to leave Doudou here." It was Professor Jian’s turn to hold the child; both he and Professor Song had classes later, and couldn’t stay here with the child.

Since they started working here, their classes were not many, and they taught graduate students, occasionally giving public classes. Today, both of them had classes.

Xu Mumu left the school with the child, while discussions started in the office. The university here was just a second-tier institution, and with the kids’ good grades, they certainly would not choose this school.

But they were quite curious about the kids and surrounded Professor Song and the others with inquiries.

When Xu Mumu went outside, the small shop from her family was getting busier with people coming to watch the commotion. The kids were surrounded by comments, and even reporters showed up.

After talking to her mother about going to find Yin Yang, Xu Mumu quickly left. She almost got caught for an interview, which she didn’t want, though her mother quite enjoyed being in the spotlight.

Xu Mumu held the little one who was starting to nod off, lacking energy.

Seeing the kid about to fall asleep, Xu Mumu gently coaxed him to sleep, wrapped him snugly with a small blanket, then placed him in the stroller.

When he’s awake, he doesn’t like staying in the stroller, but with the outside not being noisy, the little guy quickly fell asleep.

Xu Mumu leisurely pushed the stroller on the way to the company, with plenty of pedestrians on the street. Occasionally, bicycles passed by. The roads had recently been renovated and widened, perfect for vehicles to move freely.

Xu Mumu walked ahead, observing the surrounding stalls. Most of them were starting to close, and the crowds were lessening.

Suddenly, a man hurriedly ran over, bumping into Xu Mumu.

Xu Mumu reversed the hold and grabbed the man’s hand, "Stealing?" Xu Mumu looked at the large bills in the man’s hand. This was the money Yin Yang had left at home, which she carried for convenience when making random purchases outside over the past few days.

Tsk tsk, truly lacking vision, stealing money from her.

"Let go, what are you talking about? That’s my money, I just sold grain at home, and my wife is sick, I need the money to go back and treat her." The man stubbornly refused to admit it, glaring at her threateningly.

"Oh? My little bag was cut deeply by you. You’re quite agile, it looks like you’re a career criminal." Xu Mumu said with a smile, gradually increasing the strength in her grip.

Originally in a good mood today, if this guy were honest, she might just let him off with a simple warning. But he dared to glare and threaten her. Being a repeat offender, this affair should be handled by the police. Having him around is a hazard.

"Ouch, let go." The man’s face twisted, wondering how this stubborn woman had such strength, feeling like his bones were about to shatter.

"Can any of you help me call the police? He stole quite a lot of money from me, and you can see how badly he cut my bag. He must have stolen money from lots of other people too. We can’t let these parasites out; otherwise, he’d be stealing your money next." Xu Mumu called out to the people around her.

"Don’t worry, miss, I’ve already asked my son to call the police." A middle-aged man replied cheerfully.

"Watch out." Suddenly, the voices around grew sharp.

For the man to cut open Xu Mumu’s bag, he naturally had a sharp small knife.

With the knife in his other hand, the man lunged at Xu Mumu. The blade glinted coldly under the sunlight.

But before the knife reached Xu Mumu, she twisted the man’s other hand, leaving him no time to react, and he fell heavily to the ground, stabbing his arm with the knife.

"Ah, ah, it hurts, help!" The man broke into a cold sweat with pain. The knife wasn’t big enough to kill him, but the stab was deep and incredibly painful.

"Serves you right. It’s karma for the thief, evil begets evil." People around began to point at the man.

"Exactly, exactly."

"Wow, this young lady is strong, she threw him directly."

...

Xu Mumu listened quietly, watching the man try to escape. She simply stepped on him.

"Where are you trying to run? The police aren’t here yet." Xu Mumu smiled, and to the man, this smile seemed devilish.

The man realized the situation; he had hit a hard wall.

"Comrade, have mercy, I know I was wrong, don’t send me to the police." The man cried, snot mixing with tears, truly frightened now.

"I was blinded by greed; I swear I won’t dare next time."

He had observed Xu Mumu for quite a while, seeing her well-dressed, obviously well-off. He figured a lone woman with a child would be easy prey, having surveyed the surroundings finding her the least challenging target.

He now only wanted to vomit blood; this woman had so much strength, and his wrist hurt terribly, the knife stabbed deeply. Setting out today without checking the almanac was a mistake.

"Could you help me tie him up? My son woke up scared." The little one’s crying filled the air, and while stepping on the man’s back, ignoring his pleas, Xu Mumu picked up her son from the stroller.
