70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 609: Li Caixia’s Complaints
Xu Mumu and Yu Xinyao brought the two kids over to the small shop, it was the afternoon, and there wasn’t much business.
When Fengfeng mentioned for Xu Hai to take them out to play, Xu Hai immediately agreed.
The little shop was left for Li Caixia to watch over, and Li Caixia was furious. She wanted to take her little grandchildren shopping too. Who wanted to watch over the shop? There was hardly any business at this time.
"Mom, stop looking, they’ve all gone far." Watching her mom’s eager expression, Xu Mumu almost burst out laughing.
"Fengfeng is something else, he never calls me, always his dad." Li Caixia complained to her daughter.
"No worries, he’ll probably call you next time." Xu Mumu said with a smile, her mom being jealous over such a little thing was really enough.
"Exactly, kids are always closest to their mom." Yu Xinyao also said with a smile, whenever she came by and saw so many people in the Xu Family, with such liveliness, she felt so envious.
Now they were implementing the one-child policy, and since she was in the system, she could only have one child. Wasn’t it time she switched jobs? Then she might be able to have more kids. She really liked children.
This thought, Yu Xinyao had had more than once, she just never told anyone.
"Yaoyao’s words are always nice, would you like some apples? Your Fourth Uncle sent some over again, I’ll go wash some for you." Li Caixia was instantly comforted.
"Mom, I want the biggest one." Xu Mumu said without holding back at all.
"Okay, no one else will miss out on theirs, least of all you." Li Caixia said with a smile, and then pulled out a basket from under the counter filled with apples.
"How come Fourth Uncle sent so many at once?" Xu Mumu’s mouth twitched.
"I don’t know, there are still apples at home we haven’t finished, Yaoyao, take some when you go back." Li Caixia said with a smile, ever since the Fourth Family planted a huge orchard, sending over various fruits, they practically hadn’t bought any fruit from outside.
"Every time I come, Auntie gives me things to take home." Yu Xinyao said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"No big deal, we don’t lack these things, you’re Mumu’s good friend, feel free to eat and take whatever." Li Caixia said boldly now.
With the Xu Family having purchased a house near the villas, though they had less usable cash, the small shop and supermarket brought in daily revenue, which Li Caixia wasn’t worried about at all.
As they chatted, the topic soon drifted to Xu Minglei, and Li Caixia missed her son.
"I wonder how Minglei is doing at school, it’s been over half a month without a call, the school is really strict." Li Caixia started to complain, she didn’t realize when Minglei was home, but once he went to college, the house suddenly felt much emptier.
"Mom, you know Minglei’s school, it’s a military-style management, and once he joins the army, you’ll see even less of him." Xu Mumu said helplessly.
"If I had known, I would’ve picked another school, your school back then was pretty good." Li Caixia sighed, missing her son more as she spoke.
"This is Minglei’s dream, I think it’s great, Mom, you can’t give random advice." Xu Mumu said helplessly, feeling her brother chose a good path too; the Xu Family didn’t have much background, but in the military, he could have a relatively fair environment, and she believed her brother could do well.
"I know, if I really messed it up for him, he’d surely hate me." Li Caixia said with a smile, knowing her son well, she was just venting a little.
Xu Mumu chuckled, saying no more, her brother was no longer a child and had his own judgment; this path he chose she fully approved, thinking it was great.
Yu Xinyao hadn’t played for long before Huo Qingze called her, and came over to pick her up; as she left, Li Caixia gave her a lot of fruit.
Once Yu Xinyao left, Xu Mumu sat with Li Caixia, continuing to chat.
The two kids hadn’t returned from outside yet, and Li Caixia brought up wanting grandchildren again.
"Mom, why rush? You can’t rush such things." Xu Mumu said helplessly.
"I just envy those who can take their grandchildren and play anywhere." Li Caixia muttered.
"Nothing to envy, by the way, where’s my sister-in-law?" Xu Mumu was curious as she hadn’t seen Jiang Yuxiu today.
"They went to Qingyuan Temple to offer incense; it’s the Great Buddha’s birthday soon, they think it’ll be crowded then, so they went early." Li Caixia said calmly, she had specifically asked her daughter-in-law to pray for children, even giving her some money for the temple offerings.
Xu Mumu recalled the temple, Qingyuan Temple was quite famous nearby; when times were hard, monks there had to return to secular life, and during the past movements, there were no monks at all. Even if people wanted to worship, they had to do it secretly. Now that it was open, there were monks managing the temple again.
It’s one of the notable sights nearby; all roads had been opened, and more people visited the temple.
"My sister-in-law didn’t tell me they were going, I haven’t been in ages." Xu Mumu pouted, remembering being taken secretly to worship by Madam Chen as a child, almost getting caught.
Since coming back to life through the book, she had come to believe in such things, thinking of praying for peace of mind.
"If you want to go, that place is poor, even the free meal was bad, I went with your grandma before, the free meal wasn’t as good as what your grandma made next door." Li Caixia said disdainfully, the temple wasn’t worth worshipping, she was a new-age woman, believing in science.
"I want to worship a bit, we’ve prospered these years, though we’ve done some good deeds, I feel worshipping would give me some peace." Xu Mumu said seriously.
If the place was really poor, she considered donating to refurbish it.
"That works, want me to drive you there?" Li Caixia looked at her daughter excitedly, the temple was quite far, over twenty miles, even driving took time.
"You can take our car when the time comes, the electric scooter is too slow." Xu Mumu said, smiling, knowing the electric couldn’t match petrol speed.
