Chapter 1716 - Peace and Stability Merchant Association

After receiving the Bloodthirst Blade's recognition, Liu Wuxie's aura surged violently. A terrifying wave of power swept out from him and froze the three Infernal Flame Wolves in midair. The blade force had locked them all in place.

Although Liu Wuxie couldn't use the immortal arts from his previous life, he could still mobilize his blade aura. After years of refinement, his physique and primordial spirit had long reached perfection. He no longer needed to comprehend blade intent or sword intent because those powers had already carved themselves deep into his bones.

"What a terrifying blade force!" Ye Linghan staggered and nearly fell from the sky.

Over the years, she had encountered many experts who specialized in blades and swords. Many of them had comprehended sword intent or blade intent, but only one in ten thousand could comprehend blade force.

Across the Azure Flame Dao Hall, aside from those old monsters, no one had managed to comprehend blade force.

With blade force supporting him, Liu Wuxie became even more unstoppable.

"Mountain-Splitting Slash!" Liu Wuxie executed another ordinary martial technique, yet it produced an unexpected effect in his hands.

With a thunderous crack, the three second-grade Infernal Flame Wolves exploded in midair, killed by Liu Wuxie in a single strike. Their blood splattered through the air, and the Bloodthirst Blade continued devouring it.

Nourished by the blood, the bloodstain on the Bloodthirst Blade grew thicker than before. Unfortunately, only half the blade remained, making Liu Wuxie even more eager to see its complete form.

After he killed the three second-grade Infernal Flame Wolves, the ordinary Infernal Flame Wolves no longer dared to approach and began retreating. The effects of the Burst Pollen had also gradually weakened, so the wolves no longer acted as frenetically as before.

Liu Wuxie vanished from where he stood, unwilling to prolong the battle. Besides, killing the remaining Infernal Flame Wolves no longer held much meaning. They had to leave this place as quickly as possible to avoid any hidden enemies.

Swimming against the current, Liu Wuxie regrouped with Chen An's party and left without hesitation.

Ye Linghan watched them depart before dispersing the three clusters of icy energy in front of her.

"He's really a monster," Ye Linghan murmured, her curiosity toward Liu Wuxie growing even stronger. After all, even an ordinary first-level True Immortal wouldn't be able to kill three immortal beasts comparable to ninth-level High Immortals with a single strike. If Liu Wuxie reached the High Immortal Realm, would he be able to refine third-grade immortal pills?

If that were true, then even the alchemists in the Azure Flame Dao Hall would have to look up to him.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Ye Linghan's lips as an idea suddenly came to her. Her figure flashed, and she quietly followed the group.

Liu Wuxie's group only stopped at daybreak to catch their breath.

"We should be safe now." They were close to Moon Reverence City and had already left the mountain range. Immortal beasts would no longer appear here.

"Brother Wu, we would've all been wiped out if it hadn't been for you last night," Chen An said, bowing deeply to Liu Wuxie.

Even the other guards looked at Liu Wuxie with reverence. They had personally witnessed him slay the three second-grade immortal beasts.

"Since I've joined the Peace and Stability Merchant Association, I naturally can't just stand by and watch," Liu Wuxie said, brushing the matter aside. His gaze had already fallen on Moon Reverence City.

He knew this city all too well, and his eyes turned moist. Perhaps fate had played a trick on him, for he had been born in Moon Reverence City in his previous life before the Heavenly Daoist had taken him away. He hadn't expected to appear near Moon Reverence City after ascending to the celestial realm. Fate had twisted in a truly wondrous way.

"Let's rest for a little before entering the city by noon." Everyone had grown exhausted after traveling through the night, and the guards collapsed to the ground.

Liu Wuxie merely sat cross-legged and circulated the Desolate Devouring Art, drawing the surrounding immortal energy toward him. As five hundred immortal stones detonated, his immortal energy began recovering rapidly.

The battle last night and the journey afterward had consumed half of the immortal energy in his desolate world.

The group rested for about fifteen minutes and continued their journey after recovering most of their strength.

At noon, they finally entered Moon Reverence City. Even after so many years, the city hadn't changed much from the last time Liu Wuxie had seen it. The city walls were mottled and worn, bearing traces of time.

Entering the city required no fee. Moon Reverence City also lacked a city lord because its scale couldn't compare to Fourfold City's.

A few million people lived in this city, and Liu Wuxie had returned two decades later under a new identity. He caressed the city wall, recalling his childhood, when he had played and laughed here with a group of children.

"Young Master Wu, is there something wrong?" Chen An asked when he saw Liu Wuxie lost in thought.

After entering Moon Reverence City, Liu Wuxie seemed to have changed. Chen An couldn't quite describe it, but the vicissitude in Liu Wuxie's eyes didn't belong to a youth in his twenties.

"I'm fine," Liu Wuxie replied, shaking his head. He emerged from his reverie, and the sorrow on his face gradually faded.

He walked through streets that felt both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Many shops had vanished over the past two decades, replaced by new ones. Aside from several newly risen forces, however, the city itself hadn't changed much.

An hour later, the group finally arrived at the Peace and Stability Merchant Association. Two massive lion statues stood at the entrance, baring their fangs as they guarded the gate.

A large plaque hung above the doorway, bearing the words "Peace and Stability Merchant Association." Most of the golden powder had already peeled away from the characters, revealing their age.

"Young Master, you're finally back! The master is furious in the main hall. It's best if you hurry inside," said an old man who walked out from the courtyard. He was the steward of the Peace and Stability Merchant Association, known as Old Jia, who had followed Chen Ping for countless years.

"Right away!" Chen An said urgently upon hearing that his adoptive father was furious.

"Uncle Jia, this is Brother Wu, whom we met along the way. Please arrange the best courtyard for him," Chen An said. He didn't need to arrange anything for the other guards because they already knew the way back to their residences. But Liu Wuxie had just arrived, so someone naturally had to arrange his lodging.

Old Jia immediately understood that Liu Wuxie wasn't ordinary, since the young master had addressed him as "Brother."

"Young Master Wu, please follow me!" Old Jia said, gesturing politely to Liu Wuxie. He led him toward the other side of the courtyard, while Chen An hurried toward the main hall.

Liu Wuxie followed Old Jia to a separate courtyard, where the servants settled him in. The furnishings in the Peace and Stability Merchant Association hadn't changed much compared to his last visit.

"Young Master Wu, please rest for now. Once the master finishes handling his matters, he will receive you personally," Old Jia said before withdrawing. He knew the master would surely meet someone the young master valued.

"Thank you, Steward Jia," Liu Wuxie replied.

Old Jia had clearly joined the Peace and Stability Merchant Association in the past decade or so, since Liu Wuxie didn't know him.

Once inside the room, Liu Wuxie activated Ghost Pupil and began scanning his surroundings. His vision penetrated the buildings and quickly reached the main hall, where he saw a middle-aged man with a scar across his face that made him look somewhat ferocious.

Chen An stood below, along with several injured men carried back on stretchers.

"This is outrageous! The White Tiger Merchant Association has gone too far! Not only did they ambush us along the way, but they even dared to attack our shops openly!" Chen An roared furiously after hearing his adoptive father's account, swinging his fist through the air.

"An'er, you mentioned that you met a young man along the way who saved you and killed the White Tiger Merchant Association's pursuers. Is that true?" Chen Ping asked as the anger on his face gradually subsided. He ordered the guards to carry the injured men away for treatment.

"Father, I was just about to tell you about him. This person isn't simple. As an eighth-level Heavenly Immortal, he can slay ninth-level High Immortals with ease. Just last night, he faced three second-grade Infernal Flame Wolves and killed them with a single strike. He's willing to join our Peace and Stability Merchant Association, and I have a feeling he'll become a major asset for us," Chen An said emotionally when he mentioned Liu Wuxie.

Chen Ping soon frowned. He didn't doubt Chen An's words; he found the timing too coincidental. "Have you investigated his background?"

Otherwise, it made no sense that Liu Wuxie would help them out of nowhere.

"Father, are you suspecting that he might be a spy planted among us by the White Tiger Merchant Association?" Chen An asked. He naturally understood what his father worried about.

"I'm not sure, but if the White Tiger Merchant Association truly wanted to plant someone among our ranks, sacrificing so many people wouldn't make any sense," Chen Ping said. He merely suspected Liu Wuxie, but Liu Wuxie had undeniably slain more than a dozen members of the White Tiger Merchant Association.

It made no sense for the White Tiger Merchant Association to sacrifice so many people to plant a spy among them.

"Father, Young Master Wu saved my life, and I hope you can appoint him to an important position," Chen An said. He trusted Liu Wuxie unconditionally. They also happened to be in desperate need of manpower, and Liu Wuxie had appeared at the perfect moment.

"No hurry. I'll host a banquet to welcome him tonight first," Chen Ping said. As a shrewd man, he intended to meet Liu Wuxie first before making any decision.

Liu Wuxie withdrew Ghost Pupil and returned to cultivation. He had heard their conversation clearly and noticed that Chen Ping had aged significantly, even though only two decades had passed since their last meeting.

Time passed slowly, and Chen An personally came to invite Liu Wuxie to the banquet.

"Young Master Wu, we've prepared a banquet to welcome you," Chen An said courteously. He didn't treat Liu Wuxie as an ordinary guard and even placed Liu Wuxie above himself because Liu Wuxie's combat strength far surpassed his own.

"Thank you, Young Master Chen!" Liu Wuxie said as he straightened his robes and stepped out of the room. He had changed into a cyan robe he had purchased back in Fourfold City.

After crossing the courtyard, they soon reached the main hall, where the servants had already arranged a banquet.

"Please," Chen An said politely when they reached the doorway.

The moment Liu Wuxie stepped into the main hall, Chen Ping walked out with a smile.

"I believe you must be the Young Master Wu that my son has mentioned. Please, come and take a seat," Chen Ping said politely, cupping his hands together.

Liu Wuxie said nothing. His gaze remained fixed on Chen Ping, especially the scar on the right side of his face. His heart throbbed when he saw it, because if Chen Ping hadn't saved him in the past, he would've died long ago. Back in Liu Wuxie's previous life, Chen Ping had saved him and suffered disfigurement as a result.

Without reaching the Immortal King Realm, one couldn't regenerate from such injuries, and this scar had followed Chen Ping for countless years.

For some reason, Chen Ping's heart also throbbed when he looked into Liu Wuxie's eyes, and a strange sense of familiarity rose within him. Even if some people changed their bodies, their gaze and expression would remain the same.

"Greetings, Chief Chen," Liu Wuxie said, withdrawing his gaze and cupping his fists together.

Not many people knew about his rebirth, and he had no intention of telling anyone for the time being. It wasn't that he didn't trust Chen Ping. In the entire celestial realm, Chen Ping was the only person he could trust with his whole heart, but the time wasn't right for them to reunite.

"Please, have a seat," Chen Ping said. He had briefly lost focus but quickly recovered.
