Chapter 814
Chapter 814
Anton was a little grateful that he was not too close to his new teammates, simply because when the captain talked to him alone, Captain Joraniah mentioned avoiding deep emotional attachments with anyone, since the rate of fatalities was extremely high. Team Gorvin could not afford a member who would become a burden because of grief for losing a member.
He believed the captain, since even with the first mission that he joined, the team lost a member.
After three days of battling the undead in Nizgeroth, their team had lost Helena and Mishos, and more than likely, before the war ended, their team would lose a lot more. Anton supposed that every team in the army would have the same experience.
Even some of the most powerful Semi-Divine rank and Divine Rank wizards had already fallen. Truth to tell, Anton didn’t know the status of the war. The only thing on his mind was to keep on fighting.
All of his summons, including those from the Necromancer skill tree, were now focused on protecting each member of Team Gorvin. That process was working. Each member of their team was protected very well. Unfortunately, if they were targeted by a Semi-Divine rank or a Divine Rank undead, that was the time they lost a member, as in the case of Helena and Mishos.
Nevertheless, their team did not stop, even for a moment, and continued fighting. After destroying a few Supreme-Rank undead beings, the captain decided to join their team with the other teams for safety. At that moment, five teams, including theirs, joined together to destroy a ziggurat protected by a couple of Invincible-Rank liches and Supreme-Rank vampires and wraiths.
Because of his mobility, Captain Joraniah assigned him to join the wizards who were targeting the Invincible Rank liches. He immediately switched his targets to those powerful liches but made sure to command all of his summons to continue protecting each member of Team Gorvin. Anton also did not neglect to summon a new summon if one of them was destroyed.
Fighting the two Invincible Rank liches together with several other wizards took almost all of Anton’s focus. He had to be extremely careful because first, the counterspells of the liches were extremely powerful, and if he got hit by any one of them, he was sure that he would receive great damage despite the many buffs that he had on him.
Because of his Teleport and Telekinesis spells, Anton was extremely agile in the air and was almost always able to avoid the spell attacks of the liches. Those that managed to reach him were mitigated by defenses and his because he had thousands upon thousands of full rejuvenation potions that he had collected over time; any damage that he received, however massive they were, was healed immediately.
The good thing about Anton’s spells was their variety. The curses from the Necromancer skill tree were extremely helpful, and the traps from the Assassin were particularly deadly.
Anton kept on casting all the spells that he could cast, and he needed to rotate them so that the powerful liches would not be able to focus on defending against a specific element.

At the very least, Anton was a little thankful that all the wizards who were focused on attacking the powerful Invincible Rank liches were casting their spells from range. That meant that Anton could cast his spells without worrying that his allies would be affected by his spells.
He cast his Frozen Orb, Chain Lightning, Meteor, Blizzard, and Hydra spells from his Sorceress character. Anton also cast all of the spells from his other characters, like the curses from the Necromancer skill tree, some of the elemental spells from the Druid, the Shouts and War Cries from the Barbarian, the Traps from the Assassin, and some of the offensive skills from the Paladin that were especially fatal to undead.
After a couple of hours, they finally killed the two Invincible Rank liches, but that was because they had the help of one of the Invincible Rank wizards from the other teams. Still, the two liches killed two Supreme Wizards on their side. Once the two highest-ranked undead were destroyed, it was easy enough to sweep off the rest of the undead in that location.
Thankfully, by joining with other teams, every time they were targeted by powerful Semi-Divine rank or Divine Rank undead, the most powerful wizard among them had ways to delay those undead and summon assistance. After a few seconds, powerful wizards on their side would arrive to assist them.
Anton felt that there was nothing left in his life but fighting. His mind became empty, and the only thing in it was to make sure to keep on casting his spells.
Before the attack on Nizgeroth started, Anton thought that the fight between the two sides would be staggered, like they would attack, then after a while, they would retreat to rest, rinse and repeat. That was what the undead usually do when they attack a human kingdom, but now, Anton understood that the higher-ups on their side were decisive and did not want to stop until the war was completed.
Anton preferred the fight that was happening. He wanted the fight to never end until they win or lose. He was just extremely tired of thinking about the Undead Coalition and wanted them gone for good.
The fight went on and on. The advantage of Team Gorvin compared to other teams was that they were always at their peak because of Anton’s auras. It came to a point that the other teams asked Captain Joraniah achieved that state, and their captain was very open about informing them that it was because of Anton’s spell.
Anton understood why the captain had spread his abilities. No one on their side could afford to be secretive. Because of that, Anton was passed down to different teams so that he could refresh everyone using his aura. Thankfully, there were only five teams, and he completed the assignment of bringing everyone to their peak in a very short amount of time.
Once they conquered a specific location, killing all the undead there, they would switch to another. It went on and on. It was inevitable that during those fights, a few wizards would fall.
The next wizard who fell in Team Gorvin was the newly arrived Farijas. The five teams that gathered together were ambushed by three Invincible Rank vampires and several Supreme Rank undead creatures. Aside from Farijas, several wizards from other teams were also killed.
Even though Anton was not too close to the members of Team Gorvin, his heart still ached. The only people left on their team were himself, Captain Joraniah, Sudarta, Ishmael, and Aruma. Anton made sure to keep summoning his summons whenever a single one fell because, since there were fewer of them, the huge number of summons that he had were now much more able in protecting them.
As an example, when they were attacked by a Divine Rank lich, all of Anton’s summons used their bodies to block the incoming attack of the lich to the point that the only ones remaining before a powerful Divine Rank wizard on their side arrived to assist them were the Valkyrie and the Shadow Master. The sacrifice was negligible because Anton just summoned his summons again. Unfortunately, that technique of using the summons to block spell attacks could only be used if they saw the incoming attacks. If it was an ambush or a surprise attack, just like what happened with Helena, Mishos, and Farijas, there was nothing they could do.
