Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Addiction

The Elk Host was clearly troubled.

He was terrified that some accident might occur, inadvertently harming this fragile young female of the Rabbit Clan.

"Ms. Zhi Zhi, please wait in the room. You can come out after we’ve taken care of things outside."

Yu Zhizhi nodded. "Alright."

She didn’t know what was happening, only that the male Elk had hurried away. Soon, a series of screams echoed from outside.

Yu Zhizhi felt a little apprehensive. Sitting on the sofa, she slowly scooted closer to her housekeeper, Louis.

Sensing the little rabbit’s unease, Louis lowered his gaze, a faint smile touching his lips.

"It’s alright."

He soothed her softly.

"It’s probably one of the contestants who escaped from Paradise."

Paradise...

Yu Zhizhi had a vague memory of that.

The broadcast yesterday mentioned a popular contestant had escaped.

She asked, "Was it Number 091?"

The broadcast had warned the residents of Zero Star Street to be extra careful when they went out.

Louis looked into Yu Zhizhi’s clear eyes. With her head tilted up and her rabbit ears angled back, she looked like a small, endearing animal.

"Probably..." He crouched down, positioning himself to look directly into her eyes. "Not him."

"Oh?"

"If it were 091, most of the Beastmen in the Lost Tower would have been killed by now."

Ah! Yu Zhizhi’s eyes widened. ’That Paradise contestant is so dangerous!’

Before she could speak, something sharp slammed heavily into the door, making a piercing sound.

Yu Zhizhi flinched and threw herself at the person in front of her.

Crouching on the floor, Louis was caught off guard as the little rabbit lunged into his arms. He fell back onto the floor in a sitting position. Feeling the small female trembling, he had no choice but to gently stroke her head.

’She’s so small.’

He could barely feel any weight holding her in his arms.

The commotion outside gradually subsided.

Inside the room, the lights flickered a few times, then abruptly went out.

The windowless VIP room was plunged into complete darkness.

Yu Zhizhi buried her face in Louis’s chest, sensing a foul aura slowly seeping in from under the door.

Someone was turning the doorknob.

Louis glanced over, then gently set the little rabbit in his arms down on the carpet, leaning her back against the sofa.

"Miss, I’m going to take a look," he said softly.

Yu Zhizhi hid by the arm of the sofa, peeking out with only her eyes. Her heart pounded with anxiety as she watched Louis stand up and walk towards the door.

As the man reached the door, the banging grew louder.

With a cold expression, he opened the door. When something rushed in, he kicked it away, sending it flying.

He stepped out and pulled the door shut behind him.

An unknown amount of time passed.

The corridor fell completely silent. Gradually, Yu Zhizhi heard the male Elk’s voice—

"I hope Ms. Zhi Zhi wasn’t frightened?"

Louis replied, "What do you think?"

"I am so sorry. Truly, truly sorry."

The male Elk bowed again and again.

"I can’t believe they got out. *Sigh*. They’re all locked up now. This will absolutely never happen again."

"The lights are broken," the young man said, his voice cold.

"We’ll fix them immediately!"

Louis pushed the door open. In his hand, he held a Firefly Lamp given to him by a Lost Tower Beastman. His gaze immediately landed on the little rabbit hiding by the sofa.

The stench of blood in the corridor was overpowering.

He shut the door.

Lou walked slowly toward the sofa and placed the Firefly Lamp on the coffee table. Its light was faint, illuminating only a small patch of the room.

Yu Zhizhi breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him return.

"Wh-What happened?"

"It’s all taken care of," Louis said, his voice gentle. He sat on the carpet in front of Yu Zhizhi and saw the little rabbit’s deathly pale face, knowing she had been terrified.

He waited patiently, planning to leave with her only after the extensive bloodstains in the hallway had been cleaned up.

"What were they?" Now that the danger had passed, Yu Zhizhi’s curiosity was piqued.

Louis was wiping blood from his fingers with a handkerchief. He smiled and replied, "The highest floor of the Lost Tower is used to imprison some mutated species that have lost their sanity. One of the contestants who escaped from Paradise let a few of them loose."

"We’ve already rounded them all up."

"Don’t worry."

Yu Zhizhi nodded lightly.

’I can’t believe I ran into something like this just by coming to get the Purification Holy Medicine for the Mermaid,’ she thought.

’Thank goodness Louis was here.’

"Luther said you used to serve in the Mystical Forest’s Guard Team?"

"Yes, Miss."

"I heard it’s very dangerous there."

"Mmm, there are many mutated Demons. In the Moon Rising Empire, only the main city districts are secure and free from incursions."

So—

’Louis is battle-hardened. That’s why he dealt with the danger so quickly today.’

Yu Zhizhi was very pleased with the housekeeper Luther had found for her.

She moved out from beside the sofa and knelt on the carpet. In the pitch-black room, there was only a single green Firefly Lamp.

Louis, who was wiping his wrist, suddenly frowned.

His body trembled slightly. He immediately pressed his right hand to his forehead, tightly covering his right eye.

Noticing something was wrong with Louis, Yu Zhizhi asked worriedly, "What’s wrong?"

...Dammit.

Louis felt that familiar power surging inside him. He bent over slightly, his expression furious.

"You bastard! It’s not time yet!"

"—You’ve broken our deal!"

’Who?’

’Who is Louis talking to?’

Yu Zhizhi watched as his back gradually bent, wanting to help him but not knowing if she should.

And so, they remained in a stalemate.

Louis’s back was hunched over, his body practically pressed against the floor.

Gradually...

His body stopped trembling.

Yu Zhizhi watched him nervously. When she saw he seemed a bit better, she asked softly, "Louis, how are you? Are you feeling better?"

"Do you need... me to do anything to help?"

The young man’s right hand was still covering his eye, and he felt a scorching heat in his palm. A muffled grunt escaped his throat, tinged with a hint of a mocking laugh.

Ahhh~

’It feels so good to be free again.’

The Firefly Lamp cast a faint glow on the dark carpet in front of him.

When he lifted his eyes, he saw the rounded knees of the little female kneeling before him. She had leaned closer out of concern, and the subtle fragrance of jasmine filled his nostrils. The young man couldn’t help but close his eyes and take a deep breath.

In the air.

There was a faint, milky scent coming from the girl, mixed with the rich fragrance of jasmine.

’Addicting.’

The young man propped himself up with one hand, slowly straightening his torso.

"Miss." A hint of a smile laced his tone. "Please, come a little closer. Let me check to see if you’re injured."

’Louis...?’

’He looked the same and sounded the same, but why did Yu Zhizhi feel like he had become a completely different person?’

Her gaze darted away. "I-I’m not injured."

’So... you don’t need to check.’

"Then, can you move a little closer? I want to see what kind of necklace you’re wearing."

’A necklace?’

Yu Zhizhi looked down in confusion. She was only wearing a plain silver necklace today; there was nothing special about it.

She had carefully put away the one Dracula had given her, afraid she might damage it.

Seeing the little female remain motionless.

The young man reached out and, without a trace of gentleness, wrapped his hand around her neck—
