Rebirth in the 90s: Melting My Devoted Mr. Iceberg
Chapter 1126: Heading to the Disaster Area
After breakfast, Mr. Mu received a phone call and went out. Jiang Xue washed the dishes and hurried back into her space without even mopping the floor.
She entrusted Little Reunion to Little Fox, washed the herbs herself, then went into the cave to refine the medicine pills.
Once the hemostatic medicine was refined, Jiang Xue went up the mountain to collect other herbs. This busied her until noon, leaving her no time to prepare lunch. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Fortunately, Mr. Mu wasn’t returning for lunch, so Jiang Xue made some noodles to tide herself over. After eating, she didn’t nap as usual but went into her space again, staying busy until four or five in the afternoon when she finally emerged.
Once out, Jiang Xue immediately picked up her phone and saw that Mu Qiancheng hadn’t called, which eased her mind. She rested for a bit, then went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Just as dinner was ready, Mu Qiancheng returned. He said to Jiang Xue, "Xue’er, I’m sorry, I cannot have dinner with you; we have to leave immediately. I’ve just come back briefly to tell you."
At hearing this, Jiang Xue felt a pang in her heart and looked at Mu Qiancheng, saying, "Wait for me a moment!"
Without hesitation, in the living room, she swiftly stepped into her space and grabbed some medicine she had refined, handing them to Mu Qiancheng. She said, "These are medicines I made myself. I’ve labeled what each medicine does, so don’t mix them up when using."
"Okay!" Mu Qiancheng nodded, carefully stowing the medicines Jiang Xue prepared and then enveloped her in a strong embrace.
"Xue’er, wait for my return!" Mu Qiancheng said, and with that he left, taking the items with him. Initially, he could have chosen not to return, given that the troops were about to depart. However, after reconsideration, he decided to return and inform his little wife, even though time was scarce; for him, it was worth the rush.
After Mu Qiancheng left, Jiang Xue’s tears flowed freely down her cheeks. Little Reunion, upon seeing Jiang Xue crying, instinctively began to cry as well.
His crying snapped Jiang Xue back to her senses, prompting her to wipe her tears away and comfort Little Reunion.
Fortunately, Little Reunion was easy to console; he soon stopped crying and then started fussing for food, hungry as he was. At his urging, Jiang Xue set aside her sadness and took her son to eat.
Yet, after feeding her son, Jiang Xue found herself without any appetite, eating only a few bites. After cleaning up the dishes, she sat on the sofa with Little Reunion, lost in thought.
She sat there for an unknown length of time until the phone rang—it was Lu Jintian calling. He inquired if Jiang Xue had eaten, saying he planned to come by and check on her.
Upon hearing Lu Jintian wanted to visit, Jiang Xue’s mood improved considerably. After hanging up, she busied herself tidying up.
Not wanting Lu Jintian to notice she’d cried, Jiang Xue specifically used some ice to reduce the swelling around her eyes, changed her clothes, and put on light makeup.
After doing so, she appeared much more spirited. Finished with her preparations, Jiang Xue sat on the sofa, watching TV while waiting for Lu Jintian.
After a short wait, the doorbell rang. Jiang Xue opened the door to find Lu Jintian outside, holding a large stuffed doll.
The doll was half-human in height, almost wholly obscuring Lu Jintian.
Seeing such a large doll, Jiang Xue was instantly taken aback. Was he gifting the half-human-sized doll to Little Reunion or to her?
