Chapter 4: Going home

‘Uncle, you will have to squeeze with me for the time being.’ Chen Yang scratched his head in embarrassment, his chuckling manner revealing a touch of simple naiveté.

Chen Yang carried his luggage into an old apartment building. Following behind, Chen An eyed the stair railings that had already rusted over. This building clearly had at least 2 decades worth of history.

When they reached the fourth floor, Chen Yang took out a key to open the door. The security gates released an ear-piercing clatter to display a very tiny but clean apartment before Chen An.

Taking a sweeping look around the apartment, the place was no bigger than the bathroom he had in Manhattan.

There was only one bedroom, one living room, one kitchen and one toilet in the apartment. Chen Yang usually lived alone. His bedroom was just big enough to put in only one bed. There was also a bookshelf and a desk that was completely covered with books as well as a wardrobe where clothes were hung neatly.

'Uncle, I have to go to class now. Here is the apartment key. There is food in the fridge and if you feel bored, you can take a stroll outside. I’ll be back in the afternoon to prepare lunch for you.’

After putting the luggage aside and checking his watch, Chen Yang helped Chen An settle in before tearing out the door to head to school.

Chen An took a turn around the flat. The place was clean and simple, without even a cigarette butt let along half a cigarette.

He walked towards the window to see Chen Yang heading towards the nearby university in quick strides. Towards this 'nephew’, Chen An did not have much thoughts about him. Though he may seem a little silly, this young man certainly has filial piety.

Chen An sat down on the sofa in the living room and casually switched on the televsion set that probably came from some flea market. Currently, there was a melodramatic romance idol drama being screened.

Having lost complete interest in mere seconds, Chen An stood up and went into Chen Yang’s bedroom. At the head of the bed, the kid left his laptop.

He walked towards the bed and opened the laptop. Fortunately, there was no password set.

He searched for 'Chen Zhang An’ on the Internet and received entirely irrelevant results. As expected, there was absolutely no news of his death to be found.

Closing his eyes and taking a few deep breathes, Chen Zhang An rapidly calculated his next steps. Since he received a second chance at life, he would not consider dying again.

Lu Feng –

He chuckled softly. He will make sure that this traitor pay the price.

Earlier, he didn’t get a chance to take a proper shower in the hospital. Chen An stood at the entrance of the tiny bathroom that could barely contain more than two individuals and screwed his eyes shut.

Though he disliked it immensely, he had no other options where he could take a bath.

The process of bathing however, was equally as repulsive to Chen An. In particular, when he had to use his hands to scrub that fatty streaked pork body of his. How he wish he could just take a knife and slice himself. This is no different from bathing an actual pig.

When he was done showering, Chen An wrapped a towel around himself and opened the luggage. The 'Chen An’ of the past probably had a little money. He had some branded clothes but unfortunately, every single piece was fancy to the point that they came off as somewhat gaudy.

Once he found a simple and clean outfit to wear, Chen An once again returned to the bedroom to search on the laptop. He reckoned that the majority of his funds had long since came under the control of Lu Feng that bastard. But for a wily old fox like Chen An, how could he not leave an escape route for himself?

Since he could find himself a gun to end himself even under Lu Feng’s imprisonment, he can also find himself some money in this terrible situation.

'Found it.’

A pair of phoenix eyes framed with flab glinted. However, in less than a moment his smile stiffened.

There wasn’t a problem with the funds. Rather, he froze because he couldn’t avoid catching sight of his pig-like reflection on the screen of the laptop.

The first step to regaining his throne as a firearms crime lord: Lose weight!
