Chapter 28: Leveling Up!

"Who is this girl?" Andrew swallowed hard and heaved a heavy sigh of relief. ’Let’s just clear this dungeon and we never have to see each other again. Something is seriously wrong with her. Shy one second, psycho the next.’

He turned his attention back to the path ahead. As he walked deeper into the cave, the walls narrowed and the ceiling lowered. The light from the cave entrance faded behind him until lhe could no longer see half a meter in front of him.

At the same time, several pairs of beady, glowing red eyes started blinking in the dark, watching him. They were everywhere, on the ground, on the walls, on the ceiling and were about a dozen of them.

"Snap!" Andrew’s forehead lit up like a lighthouse as he activated the [Flash Light] Talent. He concentrated the mana flow, shaping the light into a powerful, directed beam that shot forward from his forehead like a floodlight. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

It was really, really effective!

"Squeeeeeeeck!"

Three Grey-Rats squealed in pain as they were blinded by the sudden burst of light.

One of them panicked so badly that it ran headfirst into the stone wall, knocking itself unconscious.

The other two squealed in terror and scrambled away, uncoordinated as they fled blindly into the darkness.

But why would Andrew just stand there and let them leave?

He moved like a flash, his body became a blur of motion, as he closed the distance in a fraction of a heartbeat.

Andrew appeared directly behind the first fleeing Grey-Rat, his blade sweeping in a clean, horizontal arc. The Godslayer sliced through its neck without any resistance, severing its head from its body. The rat didn’t even have time to register its death before its head was rolling across the cave floor.

Without breaking stride, Andrew flashed beside the second Grey-Rat, which was still fleeing and navigating purely on muscle memory and instinct. Matching its speed perfectly, Andrew thrust his blade to the side, driving the tip of the Godslayer directly into the side of its skull. The blade punched through bone and brain, killing the beast instantly. The rat’s legs gave out, and it collapsed in a heap.

Andrew didn’t slow down! He yanked his blade free and surged forward even faster. His entire body became a blur of motion, the [Flash Light] on his forehead cutting through the darkness and illuminating the path ahead.

Barely twenty meters away, a massive horde of Grey-Rats emerged from the shadows. They poured out of side tunnels, crawled down from the ceiling, and scurried out from behind stalagmites.

A flowing river of gray fur, red eyes, and bared fangs, all converging on him like a river wave.

There were like 70 of them or even more as they created a swarm. An horrifying wave of smell assaulting his nose.

Andrew felt goosebumps rise from underneath his shirt but he shook them off and smirked.

In the next second, he raised his blade high above his head.

Instantly, he poured massive amount of mana and Chaos Dao Flames into the Godslayer. The blade drank greedily, its surface cracking and hissing as two distinct powers clashed and merged within its Mythic frame.

The crimson, bloody intent of the Godslayer blade and the blue flames of the Chaos Dao Flames swirled and merged together in a violent maelstrom of destruction.

A terrifying purplish aura of death and destruction spread out from the blade like a shockwave. The temperature in the cavern skyrocketed as the moisture on the walls instantly evaporating into clouds of superheated steam.

Andrew suddenly tilted forward, his center of gravity dropping low as he ran with increasing speed. The wind howled in his wake, torn apart by his acceleration.

"Chaos Flame Violent Strike!"

Andrew’s arms faded into afterimages, moving so fast they became transparent blurs of motion.

Hundreds of purple flaming blade shadows materialized behind his back, forming a massive, glowing halo of devastating power! Each phantom blade was a concentrated mixture Chaos Dao Flame and Crimson killing intent from the blade.

But instead of merging into his blade as he had done before, the hundreds of purplish phantom blades spread outwards like a machine gun firing in all directions!

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

The sound was deafening as each phantom blade fired forward with the force of a cannonball, tearing through the air with supersonic speed.

In that split second, purple flames erupted throughout the entire cave, lighting up the darkness in a brilliant display of fireworks.

None of the Grey Rats could escape the blade strikes.

The phantom blades were too fast, as the Rats were impaled, sliced, shredded, and incinerated in a matter of seconds.

Not even those who were only splashed by the purple flames were spared. The fires clung to their fur like leeches, and then spread through their entire bodies like wildfire through dry grass, burning through them as though they were nothing more than paper.

"Squeak!" "Squeak!" "Squeeeeeeeck!"

Terrifying squeaks echoed through the entire cave as hundreds of Grey Rats died one after the other. The sounds of their deaths were horrifying. Some rats tried to run, but the flames caught them from behind.

Tens of such notifications scrolled through his vision like a jackpot slot machine that wouldn’t stop spinning.

[Ding! You’ve leveled up!]

[Level 1 -> Level 2]

[Level: 2 (10/2000)]

[You’ve gained +2 strength, +2 agility, +2 mana, +2 physique]

Andrew panted and let out a satisfying sigh. He finally leveled up after everything.

Contrary to what others might think, it was incredibly difficult to level up!

The first level cost 1000 EXP just to level up and the second level is showing 2000 EXP which meant the third level would cost about 3000 EXP!

As for the distributed stats points, this was the norm. Leveling up to level 2 grants +2 stats across all stats and level 3 grants +3 across all stats, the same goes for level 10, it grants +10 stats across all attributes.

This is exactly why it is very difficult to cross realms to battle in Heaven’s Domain, the stats difference across all levels is massive. The higher the levels the highest differences reveals itself and at some point, it would be incredibly difficult to cross realms to battle.

However, this is where classes prevail. When one reaches level 7, they go through class choice. They could choose their carrier choice depending on what attribute they used most during battle.

Someone who relies on physique to defend instead of attacking, would get a list of tank classes to choose from.

Someone who uses agility and moves fluidly while attacking gets a list of assassin class or agility based class to choose from. This goes also goes for those who prepare to attack head one and so on.

Now, there are those who gets the mixture of two classes to create a special class perfect for them.

Classes, increases and adjust the stats points in accordance to the class. Moreover, there are various grades of classes out there.

Class Classifications:

Normal = +20 % extra points

Rare = +25% extra points

Epic = +30% extra points

Imperial = +35% extra points

Legendary = +40% extra points

Mythic = +50% extra points

Divine = + 90% extra points

For example, Andrew gained an overall of +8 stats after leveling up to level 2. If Levi had a normal class, he would gain extra 20 percent of the 8 stat points making 1.6 stat points distributed according to the way that particular class divides its stat points.

A maniacal grin spread across his face as Rae strength filled his entire being.

He had finally leveled up after killing about 100 Grey rats. He felt his mana pool increase and warm current flowing through his veins and muscles.

His increase in strength was even more fun than watching his purple flames spread like fuel through the grey beasts in the cave.

The purple flame was like a hungry entity that leapt from rat to rat with a mind of its own. The crimson killing intent clung to beasts, grinding the Chaos Dao flame to burn those it came into contact with.

Very soon, the smell of charred rat meat filled the air, mixing with the sulfur and wet poop filled the air. The stench was enough to make a normal person gag.

Suddenly, the squeaks died down. The burning rats, gathered together in a tight cluster, separating themselves from the unburned rats deep in the cave. They formed a wall of screaming, burning flesh between Andrew and the rest of the horde.

Andrew’s eyebrows rose. It seems they understood what was happening and chose to sacrifice themselves to save the others.

Andrew grinned with genuine admiration. "Smart little bastards, aren’t you?" he muttered. "Too bad smart isn’t enough."
