The Mafia King's Hacker Bride
Chapter 40: Silence Before the Storm!
Across the hall, a group of armed men is joking around and laughing, their playful banter filling the air. But then everything goes quiet, and the room goes still as they all straighten up and bow when a heavy door creaks open. A tall figure, about 6’2", walks in, instantly changing the mood. He has striking dark gray eyes and tattoos that twist around his neck, arms, and part of his head. His hair is styled just right, adding to his intimidating look. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
He’s wearing chains on his wrist and neck, both flaunting the initials "MK" intertwined with a scorpion, which he also sports on a flashy ring with a deep red stone. His fitted black suit showcases his strong build, and with his sleeves rolled up, his tattooed skin is on full display.
Every step he takes echoes through the hall, making everyone feel uneasy. His guards follow close behind, each one armed and ready, with earpieces snug in their ears and radios clipped to their belts, staying alert for any sign of trouble.
As he walks confidently into the office, his two guards stick close to him while the others wait outside. The man who has been waiting steps in right after the guards, setting the scene for some serious discussions.
The man settles onto the big sofa, his guard standing behind him, while the other guy takes a seat on a smaller couch across from him. The tension in the room is thick, signaling that some heavy topics are about to be addressed.
The guy on the large sofa speaks first, his voice firm, "What’s going on? Why the rush to get me here? If you don’t have good news, just know that you’re going to regret it."
The other man, who had been waiting outside, gulps and says, "I don’t know where she’s gone. My men are following her..."
The first man cut him off, irritation clear in his tone. "If your men are following her, how do you not know where she is? It sounds like she’s outsmarting all of you. Honestly, she’s smarter than you two. You and your little witch are of no use. Maybe I should just go find her myself instead of wasting my time and resources on you."
Desperate, the other man dropped to his knees, grabbing onto them. "Listen, she’s not just any girl; she’s a hacker. I think she has support from someone. She’s hiding behind someone."
The man gave him a disgusted look and responded, "Quit making excuses! When she was in your control, how did she get away? Did anyone help her then? No! No one did! Yet she managed to take out over twenty of your guards, hacked through every system, and disappeared without a trace. You have useless men on your team."
The other man replied, "MK, I’ll try my best this time to catch her. I’ll send my best men after her."
MK snapped, "Are you kidding me? Do you think I’m some kind of fool? We need to grab that girl fast. HK isn’t even in his territory right now, but trust me, he’s far more dangerous than I am. That’s why everyone calls him the Hazard King, no one messes with him. Our only shot at taking him down is if we can figure out his weaknesses or somehow convince some of his crew to switch sides. But his men are fiercely loyal; nobody betrays him. If HK suspects any plans to double-cross him, he’ll take care of it before they even consider acting. You had really messed things up and ended up getting caught, and I had to come in and save you. Now he knows I entered you into his territory. If he realizes she’s still alive, he’ll definitely come after her. If those two end up together, they could wipe out everything we’ve worked for. Just remember this, if I go down, you’re coming down with me."
The man stammered, "I wasn’t caught; she sent the footage and messages of us to Hazard King."
MK, clearly frustrated, yanked the man by his collar and growled, "Is it my fault you can’t hire better people for your tech team? They can’t even hide text messages or figure out when the system’s been hacked?"
The man gulped, his anxiety apparent. "No, I mean, she is..."
MK cut him off, his voice sharp. "Just shut it! I don’t want to hear your excuses. You’re losing to a girl." With that, he let go of the man’s collar and gave him a slight shove.
The man steadied himself by grabbing the edge of the table, nervously fixing his tie and collar.
After what felt like ages, he was still on his knees, looking uneasy. "Where is he?" he finally asked, his voice low. "I haven’t heard from him in two months. Is he really going to come after me?"
MK chuckled darkly, the sound unsettling as it filled the room. He straightened up and said, "This is the silence before the storm. You don’t need to worry about HK; he’s my problem, not yours. Your job is to find the girl. I want to know who she is. I want to see her." He paused for a moment, his eyes lighting up with curiosity. "Is she beautiful?" he asked, a sinister edge to his laughter.
The other man straightened up, pride creeping into his voice. "Oh, she’s very beautiful. I doubt anyone’s ever touched her before."
MK leaned in closer, his grin growing as he soaked in this news. "Great. Find her and bring her to me. I haven’t had any fun in six months, and I’m ready for something... exciting." His laughter echoed once more in the office, fading into the hall beyond.
The other guy got up from his knees, brushed himself off, and said, "This time, she’s not getting away from us. I’ll make sure of it."
Mk shot back, "You better! Now stop yapping and get to work. I want to see some results!"
