Chapter 43: Madness!

Feeling his consciousness drifting away, Kevin turned his head to look at Moon, regret filling his eyes. If he had activated Ice Barrier from the very beginning, he might have held this man off until the guardians arrived, yet he had allowed his confidence in being inside the King Colosseum to get the better of him.

As a result, he underestimated his opponent’s strength. However, no matter how much Kevin regretted his arrogance, his body still collapsed to the ground. He dropped a ring and his staff as he died.

Although Moon was in the second realm, Kevin could have held him off for a while longer if he had been careful, but his arrogance blinded his judgment.

Mira, who still stood inside the VIP room, looked at Moon grimly. She no longer dared to look down on him as her gaze grew increasingly fearful.

This had all happened too quickly.

She had never dreamed that Kevin would die like that, without even enough time to activate Ice Barrier. Even if she relayed this story, nobody would believe her.

However, this unimaginable scene had indeed occurred.

Killing Kevin inside the King Colosseum might have seemed extremely foolish, but they had been the true fools. After all, how could an expert of such caliber possibly attempt such a suicidal assassination without confidence in succeeding?

Moreover, the burst of mental oppression that had suddenly appeared was simply too frightening.

Even from so far away, her mind had still gone blank for a moment. If Moon approached her, only death would await her.

Experts were experts because of their quick reactions. However, that kind of mental oppression had even slowed her thought process...

In a battle between experts, even an instant of hesitation could be fatal, not to mention falling into a daze.

Just who is he?

Mira’s mind rapidly searched through the well-known experts in Dragon City who were in the Qi Acupoint Realm as she watched Moon’s cloaked figure. However, not one of the experts she knew possessed a cold, ethereal aura like the man before her. She felt as if she were looking at an emotionless machine rather than a human being.

While Mira tried to guess Moon’s identity, Moon hurriedly collected the ring and staff Kevin had dropped. He then used a Movement Technique and departed from the King Colosseum silently.

Shortly after Moon left, a group of cultivators with fierce auras wielding spears reached the scene of the crime.

However, aside from Kevin’s corpse, nobody else was present in the corridor.

Moments after the guards arrived, a few curious cultivators rushed to the scene as well.

When they discovered Kevin’s corpse, none of them could believe their eyes.

Someone had killed Wolf Fang’s Adjudicator in the King Colosseum...

"Isn’t that Team Leader Kevin, this year’s audition host?"

"Why is he dead?!"

"What happened here?"

When the cultivators attending the audition saw Kevin’s corpse on the ground, the quiet corridor erupted with noise as they fell into heated discussion.

Who was Kevin?

What was this place?

Everyone knew the answers to these questions.

Yet, Kevin had died here...

News of Kevin’s death in the King Colosseum spread like wildfire. Posts about the incident filled the front page of the Guardian Empire’s official forums. There were even commentary videos and photos showing Kevin’s corpse. Instantly, this incident caused a commotion that swept throughout the Guardian Empire. Every cultivator in the empire who had their eyes on the sanctuary was curious about what exactly had happened.

Inside Wolf Fang’s Guild Residence:

"Mira, you were there. What happened?" a dignified middle-aged man sternly demanded after he finished reading the report he had received.

This man was none other than the Thunder Sword of Wolf Fang, Broken Sword, one of the top lower-tier Guild’s upper echelons. Even the Adjudicators had to treat Broken Sword with great respect. However, this was not only due to the man’s status in the Guild but also because of his strength. He was one of the strongest fighting forces in Wolf Fang.

Kevin’s assassination was by no means a trivial matter. He had even died inside Wolf Fang’s territory. Wolf Fang had become a laughingstock among the other Guilds in the area over this incident.

"This is the video I recorded." Mira forwarded her video, which displayed Moon’s assassination of Kevin, to Broken Sword. While the sanctuary was a different realm connected to Earth, technology, bank transfers, watches, and many other things still worked inside it. In fact, if not for that, the human race would have lost an even greater portion of its territory.

In the video Mira showcased, Kevin had died almost instantly without any time to resist.

This video made Broken Sword’s eyes twitch in anger.

He was very familiar with Kevin’s combat standards. Theoretically, it was impossible for the young man to blunder so severely even if the other person was a major realm higher. If Kevin had not fallen into a daze for that brief instant, he could’ve survived that attack using some of his treasures.

"Mira, what happened during that instant?" Broken Sword asked as he turned to the priest with a serious expression.

Although Mira had made a recording of the battle, many things could not be felt through simply watching a video. He also did not think Kevin would die such a foolish death.

Following which, Mira relayed the events that had occurred in the corridor, particularly emphasizing the moment when Moon attacked Kevin.

No matter how much she wanted to, she could never forget the feeling of that intense mental oppression. Even the oppression she felt from the Guild’s old monsters could not compare to Moon’s. There had also been that sudden burst of mental oppression she had felt when Moon launched his attack. In that instant, that oppression had far surpassed even that of second realm demons. During that moment, she felt as if she had become an ant waiting for some monster to crush her to death.

"Mental oppression of that caliber?" Broken Sword’s expression turned somber.
