Chapter 902: Difficult Mission

4th Zone-Special Base

Jeremy Night found a corner and sat down. Then he started having his food. At the same time, he perked up his ears to listen.

There were 50 or so Beast Tamers. But each floor had 20 rooms. He thought the rest of them had come from other floors.

He shook his head and began to pay attention to the conversation. They were discussing him and a few other newcomers.

They were wondering which faction they would choose. Jeremy Night had heard the warnings earlier. He had always preferred to do solo missions.

It was going to be the same here. Elder John had assured him that no one would force him to do anything here. He then finished his food before leaving.

20 minutes later,

He came to the ground floor. Elder Leah was not there. He then left the building and went to the administration building. He was going to select a mission.

When he came to the place, the staff behind the desk recognized him. There were a few other people there.

"Are you here for a mission?" the middle-aged man asked.

He was the same man who had registered Jeremy Night’s name yesterday.

"Yes," Jeremy replied.

The middle-aged man then took out a device. He showed the mission details to Jeremy Night.

Seeing that, Jeremy began to browse the missions.

[Mission 1: Hunt Tier-5 Worm to get 100 credit points and 50 points on the leaderboard.]

[Mission 2: Wipe out a small team of Tier-5 Hyenas. Location: Small Hill near the base. 500 Credit points and 200 Leaderboard Points.]

Like that, Jeremy Night continued to browse the missions. He didn’t want to waste much time. In the end, he made a decision to wipe out the hyena team.

He didn’t take the easy choice. He could have hunted the single Tier-5 Worm beast, but it would not be very helpful to him.

He decided to go with the hyenas. He then told the staff. When the middle-aged man saw the mission choice, he was surprised. He didn’t expect the young man to select a difficult mission.

He then said, "My name is Smith. If you have any doubts, you can ask me. I will register the mission for you."

Jeremy Night then received a notification on his device. He saw it was sent by the staff member here. He opened the device and saw it was a map of the special base and the terrain surrounding it.

"The small hill is located not far away from us. If you go straight, you will see the hill. The hyenas were spotted there last time. But you can only go find them at night," Smith shared some details.

Jeremy Night was shocked. He didn’t expect the person to help him out. Staff Smith then told him to check out the huge digital board above.

The digital board displayed the rankings of the first years.

[1. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Wade - 11,213 points]

[2. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Irene - 10,578 points]

[3. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Luthor - 9,897 points]

The top ten names were listed on the board. But he only took a look at the top three. He was shocked inwardly.

He didn’t expect the points to be this massive. He wondered how many of the Corrupted beasts had been killed. He then thought about whether it was a monthly ranking or a yearly ranking.

There were two other digital boards side by side. They were for the second and third years. He didn’t even look at them. He turned toward Staff Smith and asked his questions.

Smith smiled and said, "It’s a 6-month ranking."

Hearing that, Jeremy nodded his head and asked about the time limit. No time limit was mentioned in the mission.

"There is no time limit. It’s a special base camp. Missions are given to you for training. You can take your time to complete the mission."

"Even if you fail, there is no penalty," Smith added.

Hearing that, Jeremy Night thanked him once again. Smith was really helping him out. He then left the administration building.

"Why are you helping him?" another staff member who had been watching for some time asked.

"Elder John recruited the kid. So, I’m helping myself," Smith replied.

Hearing that, the other staff member nodded his head in understanding.

Meanwhile,

Jeremy Night went toward the exit. He was familiar with the exit. He followed the previous route to leave the special base.

He then entered the barren land. It was a battlefield a couple of days ago. The ground was covered in dry blood.

The carcasses of the Corrupted beasts were everywhere. Jeremy then started heading in a straight direction.

15 minutes later,

He sat down under a tree. He took his device out and checked the map. Staff Smith was right. He was not deceiving him. The small hill was located straight ahead from here.

It was just that he had to cover more than 500 meters. He then resumed his journey after putting away the device.

Office room

Elder John was in his office. He quickly received a message on his device. It was from Elder Leah. He opened the message to read it.

His eyes flashed with surprise. The message said that Jeremy Night had left the building. There was only one place he could go: the wilderness.

Elder John then contacted Staff Smith. From him, he learned that Jeremy Night took the mission to hunt the hyenas down.

His eyes flashed with appreciation. His efforts were worth it. He was glad that Jeremy Night was targeting the leaderboard rankings right away. He didn’t choose the easy path.

On the other hand, the other newcomers had started taking missions as well. If they wanted to make a name for themselves, they had to get their names on the rankings.

They understood the principle as well. At the same time, the Beast Tamers in the various factions had decided to raise their ranks as well. So, many beast tamers left their buildings to do missions.

This was witnessed by many elders, and they wanted this to happen. Only then would the special base return to normal.
