Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 1711: Transition Portals
"You are two days too late, O’ chosen one."
"!!!" Nathan widened his eyes in shock. As expected, the person lying over there was the chosen one of this continent.
He just didn’t expect that he had died.
"This..." Nathan sucked in a cold breath. "What happened?"
The alien paused for a moment. "Betrayed by a close friend. It’s truly a pity."
"Why? Why would there be a betrayal in this kind of situation?" Nathan frowned.
"I don’t know the details. However, that’s just how it is. He has done a lot of things, but I don’t think he deserves betrayal." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"..." Nathan frowned. He didn’t expect the chosen one of this continent was already dead. ’My luck has nothing to do with this, right? I know that my luck with women is good. While this guy is a man, my luck shouldn’t kill him, right? Or Revon, Neyeid, and other men around me would have died...’
Nathan was worried about his luck, but he couldn’t really see any connection.
After thinking for a moment, Nathan asked, "So, what are you going to do?"
"There is nothing I can do. My role during this opportunity is over. I just want to hibernate here and wait for the next opportunity to come before finding the chosen one of that era."
Nathan frowned. "Do you have any intention of assisting me?"
"Unfortunately, I don’t think I can assist you. I can see that you have also gained another guide. Two guides can’t meet each other, or else something bad is going to happen."
"What will happen?"
"I don’t know. However, that’s the strict rule that we have before coming to this world."
"..."
The alien asked, "Where do you come from, O’ chosen one?"
"You can call me Nathan. I came from Gratzel, but the guide there died. I have the opportunity to find another guide, Crotto."
"I see. I am Etioloite. It may be hard for you to pronounce, so you can call me Olo."
Nathan nodded. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"
"Nothing. My job is to guide you, but you already have another guide. It’s his role to support you. However, if you have anything you want to ask me, I will give you the answer."
Nathan looked down, contemplating. "Do you know about the portals?"
"Portals. Yes. Do you plan to go to another world?"
"Yes." Nathan nodded. He had already learned about the portals from Crotto, but he wanted to see if the information matched.
Olo didn’t know his intention, but he had promised to tell him what Nathan wanted to know, so he answered him.
"Portals... There are only a few of our kin who can use this ability. They are rare. More importantly, there is only one of us who can create a portal this far. Do you know who?"
"Yog-Sothoth." Nathan nodded.
"Indeed. His power was immeasurable. However, the portals weren’t directly linked from our world to your world.
"Even the invincible Yog-Sothoth couldn’t connect a portal this far. Instead, he used what’s called ’Transition Portal.’"
"Transition Portal?" Nathan hadn’t heard about this one from Crotto. Crotto might think that this wasn’t an important detail, or he might not know about it at all. Crotto had more in-depth knowledge about other worlds, though.
Besides, Olo was saying his kin. He wondered if he came from the same species as Yog-Sothoth.
"A transition portal is a portal that is placed strategically on a planet or a star to link two portals together. Depending on the distance from Portal A to Portal B, you may need several transition portals.
"For example, you use a bright star or a planet brimming with energy to create this Transition Portal. By using the star or the planet’s energy, the portal will be maintained forever."
Nathan crossed his arms. "Doesn’t that mean the portals in this world..."
"Yes. The portals in this world are using the world’s own energy to establish."
"!!!" Nathan didn’t expect this point. He wondered if the world was their enemy or if Yog-Sothoth was forcibly draining this world’s power.
At the same time, Nathan couldn’t help but think, ’Now that I think about it, to use a long-distance teleportation circle, I and Evelyn need to stand on either side and connect them both. What if we use a transition portal in the middle? We may no longer need to be on each side anymore.’
"If you go through the portals hiding in this world, you will find yourself entering another world instead of our world. This is because the Transition Portal will be disconnected the moment he finds you.
"However, you can find this disconnected portal and reactivate it to go to the next world. You do that step by step, and you will reach our world."
Nathan nodded in understanding. It looked like there was a job to do when he went to another world, but there was one thing he wanted to know. "The planets or the stars where these transition portals are located... Are there any living beings there?"
"As far as I know, there’s no more living being. The reason is simple. Those living beings might mess with the portals. However, you may find nearby planets with some living beings. It may just be bacteria, but it may be fully grown living beings.
"Unfortunately, don’t expect that all living beings from another world are like humans. Some are like familiars, but some might look foreign to your eyes. All living beings adapt to their own planets after all."
"Don’t worry. I understand that part." Nathan waved his hand. There was no way all planets would have humans. They might be similar to aliens with thin bodies and limbs and oval heads. It would be even worse.
He was already aware that Earth was located much farther away from the habitable zone, causing Earth to be the only one with living beings in the area.
However, this zone was different. There were many more planets with living beings.
That was why Nathan’s next question was, "Do you know any planets that have the strength to resist the aliens? If possible, I want to recruit them along the way."
"!!!"
