244 Ch. 244 The Intruder’s Identity

When Anxia first noticed the arrival of an intruder, Anxia was confident that it was not her husband who had come here. She remembered Richard’s ability to sneak in, nor was his fighting ability any better than when Anxia was fighting seriously.

Tonight Anxia fought seriously because she thought the person who had intruded was her mother’s man who wanted to eavesdrop on their conversation.

She had no idea that her husband had entered the room!

Anxia only became convinced when she saw the brown eyes shining with a mischievous gleam and looked at her with interest when he saw Anxia’s frustrated expression.

For a moment, Anxia was relieved to recognize her husband, but the relief vanished instantly to be replaced by utter annoyance. If Richard had known from the start that Anxia was in this room, why didn’t that man stop their fight and continue acting like he was attacking her?

Plus, at the end of this room, their son is hiding. That was why Anxia was irritated because there was a chance that Elliot would feel traumatized by seeing their fight.

And when Anxia managed to push Richard away and was relieved that her husband had decided to stop their fight, the man uttered words that a child didn’t deserve to hear.

“Well, you look sexier from down here.”

Anxia didn’t plan to slap the man, but her hand reflexively shot up and smacked her husband on the cheek. Her brain had remembered that her son was there, and her entire nervous system had entered mother mode to protect her child physically and mentally.

.....

And Anxia doesn’t want her child to learn inappropriate words, especially from the father.

“Ouch.” That was Richard’s reaction the first time he received that slap. “That really hurts. What was that for?”

Anxia felt guilty and stroked her husband’s cheek in place of Richard’s hand. “I’m sorry. You scared me.”

“Are you now?” Richard was astonished to hear this. “What are you afraid of? No one can beat my wife in this world.”

Even though Anxia couldn’t see her husband’s smile because the black cloth still covered his face, it was as if Anxia could see a proud smile adorning her husband.

“I have reason to be afraid.” She was afraid of failing to protect her son and was also scared that this intruder would accidentally injure Elliot in the middle of their fight.

Anxia only feels afraid when she has a weakness. But when Anxia has no disadvantages, even if the world is about to end, this dauntless woman will never shake standing on her two feet.

Richard knew his wife very well and knew that something was bothering his wife’s mind. He got up from his lying position without pushing Anxia off his thighs. Then his arms wrapped around his wife tightly.

Anxia sighed deliciously when she smelled her husband’s signature scent. The feeling of fear and worry that she felt disappeared instantly when she felt her husband’s tight embrace.

Meanwhile, Elliot, who saw the two adults’ intimate scene, frowned in confusion. He couldn’t hear what the adults were saying as the couple said in a whisper-like voice. The boy couldn’t understand why his mother let a stranger hug her and was curious about this man’s identity.

“Xia Xia, have you found your parents yet?” asked Richard when he felt his wife’s body relax in his embrace.

“Yes. The person lying unconscious is indeed my father. As for my mother...” Anxia took a deep breath before continuing her words. “My mother is the boss of this place.”

“What?” Richard already suspected that his mother-in-law was the mastermind that made Anxia leave him. “What happens?”

But when he heard from Anxia that his father-in-law was still alive, he thought that Loraine Shu was also one of the prisoners to lure Anxia out.

Since then, Richard had not thought much about the possibility that Loraine Shu would try to separate him from his wife.

“A very long story. But I am suspicious of something, and I need your help.”

“What kind of help?”

Anxia broke free from her husband’s lap and took a plastic bag filled with three things. Then she gave it to Richard making the man look at it in confusion. The things that Anxia gave him were two different sides and a red toothbrush.

“What’s this?”

“I wonder if these three things are related by blood or not.”

“Blood relations? Who owns these?”

Anxia shook her head. “I’ll let you know once the results come out.”

“Alright. I’ll have my team investigate it.”

“Your team? Do you mean the Cerberus team? Why do you say Cerberus is...” Anxia’s question stopped when she saw a symbol on her husband’s black collar.

The symbol was a dog with three heads, and she only realized Richard was wearing transparent glasses that were almost invisible if Anxia didn’t look closely.

“You... You’re the Guardian Angel?? You’re the legendary Cerberus?” Anxia couldn’t hide her surprise when her husband’s happy eyes flashed.

So all along... She’s been the wife of a legendary hero??

Imagine... A trained assassin got married to the superb hero. What kind of logic is that?

“You… you tricked me?”

“I didn’t trick you. You never asked me.”

Anxia gasped in disbelief upon hearing that. This man… really this husband of hers… Anxia could no longer debate over her unreasonable, shameless husband.

She should’ve known it, recalling how Richard always helped her to communicate with Ling Meng when her friend decided to join the team. They had discussed the Cerberus team countless times, but Richard never told her when he had so many chances!

“Xia Xia, don’t be mad at me, hm?” Richard sulked as he hugged his wife’s waist and buried his face in his wife’s slender belly.

“I’m not angry, just irritated.” Anxia couldn’t hide her amusement as she felt Richard’s head moving in front of her belly like a puppy begging for mercy from its owner. Only when Richard was with her did her dignified-looking husband become like a child.

Richard sensed his wife wasn’t mad at him anymore, so he took this opportunity to take her home.

“In that case, let’s go home.”

“Ah? But…”

“You promised to come home with me whether you met your parents or not. You promised we’d do it together.” Richard raised his head and looked at his wife with a stern expression without wanting to be denied.

Anxia took a deep breath, realizing that her husband had returned to his ‘lion’ mode, ready to fight, making her unable to argue back.

“I had to change our plans. Come here. I’d like to let you meet someone special.”

How would Richard react when he met Elliot? Anxia wondered.
