Chapter 1337: Almighty Insect Tide

"Have you found out which two of the Reincarnation Envoys did it?" Xuanyuan Jie asked.

"It was Yan Zhuo and Xuan Yu. They made no attempt to hide their identities, and they even demolished the ancestral hall of Tong Qiu's sect, so it looks like they don't fear retaliation from the Heavenly Court," the divine official replied.

"Find out where they are, kill them, and bring their souls to me," Xuanyuan Jie ordered.

The divine officials were just about to respond when Xuanyuan Jie's expression suddenly changed slightly, and all of them instantly fell silent as their hearts leaped into their throats.

All of a sudden, Xuanyuan Jie burst into laughter.

"I didn't think you would be able to make it back to this point. Let met see how you're going to get away this time!"

The divine officials had no idea what was happening, so they remained in a fearful silence.

"Lu Qingshan, Zhao Yao, go and find out Yan Zhuo and Xuan Yu's whereabouts. Everyone else, come with me," Xuanyuan Jie ordered, and the divine officials immediately gave a collective affirmative response.

......

Dragon Abyss Immortal Region, Azure Abyss Continent.

There was not a single cloud anywhere in sight in the clear, blue sky, and the sea down below was just as clear and vibrant.

Two streaks of light were racing through the air, leaving a long, golden trail in their wake.

Within the streaks of light were none other than Han Li and Nangong Wan, and the former had disguised himself as a man with bushy eyebrows and a large beard, while Nangong Wan remained without a disguise.

"Once we get to the Azure Abyss Continent, you'll enter the Flower Branch domain, while I go into the teleportation pagoda on my own to travel to the Middle Earth Immortal Region," Han Li said.

"Isn't it going to be too dangerous for you to travel to the Middle Earth Immortal Region using the Heavenly Court's teleportation array?" Nangong Wan asked with slightly furrowed brows.

"It'll be fine. I have a Bodhi Token in my possession, so they won't scrutinize me too closely. On top of that, I'm sure they would've never expected that I would dare to do this," Han Li reassured.

"I suppose," Nangong Wan replied with a nod, but it was clear that her concerns hadn't entirely abated.

Shortly thereafter, the coastline of the Azure Abyss Continent came into view on the horizon, and right at this moment, a burst of peculiar energy fluctuations swept through the air from up ahead.

Han Li immediately stopped in his tracks and positioned himself in front of Nangong Wan as he cast his gaze forward.

In the sky above the coastline was a vast expanse of black light, within which was a chaotic gathering of spirit insects.

A perplexed look appeared on Han Li's face upon seeing this.

Within mere moments, the expanse of black light had already flown several hundred kilometers closer to them, presenting a harrowing sight to behold.

The entire expanse of black light was crammed full of spirit insects of all descriptions ranging from several inches to thousands of feet in size.

An insect tide of just a single species wouldn't have been much cause for interest, but there were millions of spirit insects of all types of species intermingled together here, and that was very strange.

"Something's not right," Han Li murmured.

"What's wrong? It's just an insect tide, is it not?" Nangong Wan asked.

"Normally, insect tides only contain a single species of spirit insects. However, there are countless species here, some of which are natural enemies of one another that would've normally been sure to fight to the death on sight, so it's very strange that they're coexisting so peacefully together," Han Li explained.

All of a sudden, the swarm of insects parted as a giant, golden beetle flew out from within their ranks, and it was a Gold Devouring Immortal that was close to the pinnacle of the High Zenith Stage.

"Wait here for me for a second," Han Li said with slightly furrowed brows, and before she had a chance to reply, he had already vanished from the spot.

In the next instant, he appeared directly before the swarm of insects, and it looked as if he were about to be inundated.

However, a golden spirit domain then erupted out of his body, encompassing the entire surrounding area within a radius of close to a hundred thousand kilometers.

All of the spirit insects were instantly immobilized within the time spirit domain, while even the sea down below had fallen completely still.

Han Li made his way through the insect tide, quickly arriving in front of the Gold Devouring Immortal, then pressed a finger against its glabella to send a streak of translucent light vanishing into its head.

After taking a moment to examine the Gold Devouring Immortals memories, his eyes sprang open as he exclaimed, "How could she have not told me about this! She's always so reckless!"

Immediately thereafter, he returned to Nangong Wan's side in a flash.

"What's wrong?" Nangong Wan asked.

"It looks like Jin Tong is about to make a breakthrough, and these spirit insects are traveling to her side," Han Li replied.

"Is she about to reach the late-Great Encompassment Stage?" Nangong Wan asked.

"No, she's going to attempt a breakthrough to become a Dao Ancestor," Han Li replied with a shake of his head, and Nangong Wan was stunned into silence upon hearing this.

"Jin Tong was split off from a Dao Ancestor to begin with, so she's able to progress in her cultivation simply by devouring her brethren. As a result, she doesn't need to sever any corpse souls, and the speed of her progression depends solely on how quickly she's able to encounter and devour other Gold Devouring Immortals," Han Li explained.

"Isn't that a good thing? Why do you look so worried?" Nangong Wan asked.

"Similar insect tides to this one are most likely arising across all of the immortal regions, and that's inevitably going to attract the attention of the Heavenly Court," Han Li mused.

"What are you planning to do then?" Nangong Wan asked as a look of concern appeared in her eyes as well.

"I have to go help her," Han Li said.

"I agree, but do you know where she is right now?" Nangong Wan asked.

"I don't have to, I can simply follow this insect tide," Han Li replied.

"That's a good idea. I'm sure it'll make for a spectacular sight once all of the insects tides from all of the immortal regions combine into one," Nangong Wan said.

"Let's go. Time is of the essence," Han Li said, then latched onto Nangong Wan's hand before flying onto the Gold Devouring Immortal's back.

After that, he withdrew his time spirit domain, and the insect tide was instantly able to advance as normal again.

Somewhere in the Extraheavensphere.

There was an incredibly dark and pure expanse of space that was filled with spatial storms, which would occasionally clash against one another to produce spectacular light displays.

On the edge of a massive spatial storm was an even more enormous black cloud that was moving as if it were a living creature, and beams of light were shining out of it in all directions as if it were a light tower.

The black cloud was formed by Extrarealm Heavenly Devils, but for some reason, it was currently pressed tightly against the spatial storm, unwilling to stray even a single inch from it.

Hovering in the boundless space several hundred thousand kilometers away was a golden beetle that was hundreds of thousands of feet in size, and it was giving off an unfathomably powerful aura alongside a vast expanse of dazzling, golden light.

Any asteroids that dared to stray too close to it were instantly wiped out of existence by its aura even tens of thousands of kilometers away, and laid out around the golden beetle were numerous spatial rifts that resembled windows in a dark room.

The smallest of those rifts were hundreds of feet in size, while the largest were thousands of times more massive, and they were connected to countless immortal regions.

At the moment, there were countless spirit insects surging into the Extraheavensphere through most of the spatial rifts, but the spatial pressure in the Extraheavensphere was so immense that most of the spirit insects were completely pulverized as soon as they arrived.

Even so, countless more spirit insects continued to fly in without any regard for their own safety.

There were some powerful beings among them that were able to withstand the spatial pressure, and they flew over to the golden beetle's side, where they were able to enjoy the protection of the golden light radiating from its body.

There were also many Gold Devouring Beetles interspersed among them, and they instantly disintegrated into bursts of pure power that surged into the giant golden beetle's body after flying into the golden light.

As more and more spirit insects flew into the Extraheavensphere, the swarm of insects around the golden beetle grew larger and larger, forming an asteroid-belt-like structure around it.
