Chapter 189: Chapter 189: I’m Not Jealous, You Don’t Need to Explain Anymore

The woman’s face stiffened for a moment. Was Mr. Si really indulging Sang Qiao like this?

"Cleaning the floor is so sexy, and you even have hickeys on your neck?" Sang Qiao obviously didn’t believe a word.

Si Chenli glanced at her and only then realized that this assistant looked completely different from when she had first come in; his brows furrowed tightly, "Get to finance to collect your pay and leave."

The woman’s complexion grew even worse. Just a few words from Miss Sang Qiao and Mr. Si was going to fire her? Weren’t powerful men supposed to detest such jealous women?

She admitted that she had intentionally torn her clothes, including the marks on her neck that she had made herself, all to make people in the company think they had something going on.

She was very confident in her own appearance; it wouldn’t be long before Mr. Si was eating out of her hand.

And now, all her confidence was utterly shattered.

"Mr. Si, I..."

"Get out." Si Chenli’s dark eyes were cold, a sign he was on the brink of anger.

Reluctantly, the woman walked out of the door.

Now only the two of them were left in the office.

Si Chenli then looked towards Sang Qiao who was not quite happy and couldn’t help but curl his lips into a faint smile, "Was Qiaoqiao feeling jealous just now?"

Sang Qiao’s face froze slightly when asked; her reaction just now was indeed unlike her usual self.

She frowned slightly, "No."

"I have nothing with her. At the very least, she was dressed appropriately when I went to the break room. There’s soundproofing in there, so I had no idea when you arrived."

As Si Chenli spoke, he pulled out a large bag of snacks from under the coffee table and placed it on the surface.

He patted the couch beside him, indicating for her to come and sit.

"I’m not jealous; you don’t need to explain anymore." Sang Qiao stood still, feeling strangely odd inside.

"Alright, I wanted to say it," the man chuckled softly, adopting an attitude that whatever she said goes.

Sang Qiao’s ears tinged red, "Mhm."

"I’ll take you out after I finish the last contract."

"Okay."

When Si Chenli said it was the last one, it really was just one. He quickly glanced at it, signed it, and took her downstairs to leave the company.

Although the two had been together for a while, they hadn’t actually been on a date, so today he took her to the movie theater.

Si Chenli reached for her small hand and laced his fingers through hers. Sang Qiao’s fingertips twitched, but she didn’t pull away. The man’s broad and powerful palm was warm, and she didn’t reject the feeling.

Before entering the theater, Si Chenli also bought popcorn and milk tea for her.

Sang Qiao held a cup of milk tea, her fair face glowing with a hint of red, and her bright eyes sparkling with life.

"Aren’t you going to drink?"

"No drink." Si Chenli replied softly, one hand holding hers and the other carrying the popcorn, standing by her side waiting for the movie to start.

What they didn’t notice was a man in full gear following behind them, his eyes flashing with jealousy as he observed their tightly clasped hands.

As the movie theater gradually opened, the man pulled up his mask and walked towards them.

"Hello, are you Sang Qiao? There’s someone named Meng Jiahe looking for you over there; she seems to be in a bit of trouble and can’t answer her phone. Could you come with me? I’m a fan of yours."

As he spoke, he even took out his phone to show her his impressive ranking in supporting her on some fan chart.

Sang Qiao glanced at the phone screen and relaxed somewhat. This was, after all, the first time she had encountered a fan on the street. Plus, she was so well disguised, yet he recognized her—it had to be the mark of a true fan.

But how did he know she was here? And what sort of trouble could Ah He have gotten into that she’d send someone else to find her instead of calling?

Moreover, Ah He, with her injured leg, shouldn’t be going out.

The man was a fan of hers, and she didn’t want to say anything too harsh before getting the full picture. She chuckled lightly, "Maybe Ah He is just playing a joke on you. Let me give her a call and ask."

The man, seeing how polite she was, couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious, his eyes darting around.

As Sang Qiao reached out to dial the number, the man suddenly lunged at her to take hold of her.

Si Chenli’s actions were even quicker, as he pinned him to the ground.

The man struggled, yelling, "Sang Qiao, I’m your fan! I love you, make this man go away, let’s be together. I’m the one who truly loves you. I’ve even kept all the trash you threw away at home, I’d do anything for you!"

Si Chenli raised his hand and started pounding the man’s face repeatedly, each punch forceful and swift.

"Let me go!" The man struggled frantically, his hand sneaking into his back pocket to pull out the sulfuric acid he had prepared in advance, throwing it at her, who was standing above him.

His movements were too fast; even though Si Chenli tried to block it, some of the acid still splashed on Sang Qiao’s arm.

The man laughed triumphantly, "Hahaha, once you’re disfigured, he’ll abandon you. Then when the whole world forsakes you, you’ll be with me, I won’t despise you. Sang Qiao, I love you."

Sang Qiao clutched her arm as security quickly arrived to subdue the crazed man.

The bystanders took out their phones to capture the scene while Si Chenli immediately scooped up Sang Qiao and ran towards the car outside.

His face was grim, and he drove at breakneck speed.

"I’m okay, don’t be afraid, it’s just a little bit," Sang Qiao said, seeing his severe expression for the first time and couldn’t help but try to reassure him.

Her lips were a bit pale, her forehead beaded with cold sweat, and her arm was burning with pain.

She realized something was wrong the moment it happened. She had let her guard down, not expecting a fan to do something so crazy. After all, it had been a long time since she worked on any project, and she did not expect there to be such fanatical sasaeng fans.

"I should never have let him get close to you," Si Chenli still looked upset.

They arrived at the hospital, and he carried her upstairs to the emergency room, kicking open the door to the ward.

The doctors quickly came to treat her wounds, and after her wrist was bandaged, her left arm was temporarily unable to bend.

Technically she didn’t need to be hospitalized, but Si Chenli, worried about infection, insisted on admitting her.

Sang Qiao: "..."

He placed a chair by her bedside and stayed close, constantly sending messages on his phone to his assistant, dealing with the issue of the sasaeng fan.

The scene of their peaceful coexistence was all witnessed by another figure outside the door.

Mrs. Sang looked at Sang Qiao’s fair face, her indifferent expression, and the man guarding by the bedside. She silently turned and walked downstairs, then sat crying on the stair landing.

Her emotions had become more stable lately, watching Sang Qiao’s news on Weibo every day.

When she received the trending news of her daughter’s accident, her first reaction was to know she would come to the hospital. As Sang Qiao’s mother, she easily inquired about Sang Qiao’s ward number.

This was the first time she seriously looked at her own daughter. She realized she had been wrong all these years; Sang Qiao had grown up and reached the age where she could be married off.
