Chapter 396 - 352: ZAGE's First Ever Event - Part 1

Saturday, 8 November 1992

At the ZAGE Event Building (ZEB), the atmosphere was electric. The excitement buzzing in the air was undeniable. Rows of seats filled the wide hall, snack stands lined the sides offering everything from soda to hot dogs, and colorful decorations of ZAGE's iconic characters were placed everywhere, creating a vibrant and lively environment. For many attendees, it was like stepping into one of their favorite games brought to life.

Players, fans, families, and curious newcomers filled the venue, their faces lighting up in amazement at the incredible design and energy. Friends, families, and nearly all of the ZAGE employees were in attendance, buzzing with pride and excitement. Even a TV Tokyo news crew had arrived, their cameras ready to capture the momentous occasion.

Event staff were dressed up in colorful costumes, bringing ZAGE characters to life. Some wore iconic outfits like Mario and SpongeBob, while others represented different ZAGE characters' favorites. The venue was also packed with decorations, including adorable Pokemon plushies placed throughout the hall, adding even more charm to the scene.

Kids and adults alike pointed excitedly, their voices carrying through the air: "Mom, look! It's SpongeBob!" "Oh wow, there's Mario!" "Look, a Pikachu plushie! I want one!" — only to be disappointed when they realized the plushies were for decoration only and not for sale.

The chatter quieted as the lights dimmed slightly. A moment later, the spotlight hit the stage, and the crowd erupted in cheers as Zaboru himself stepped forward, donning his now-iconic Z-Helmet.

"Zaboru! Zaboru!" the crowd chanted, the building practically shaking with energy.

Zaboru struck a dramatic pose, a confident grin on his face inside the helmet. Activating his special ability, Aura of Influence: Zabo-Man Persona, he immediately captivated the audience, drawing every eye and every ounce of attention toward him.

"Hello everyone!" Zaboru shouted into the microphone. "I'm Zaboru! Thank you all for coming today! Today is a historic day—this is the very first official ZAGE event! And from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of you for playing ZAGE games, for supporting us, and for believing in what we do!"

The crowd roared in response, clapping and whistling. Some even waved homemade ZAGE banners.

With the energy reaching a fever pitch, Zaboru walked to the center of the stage and picked up a sleek electric guitar. Behind him, members of his trusty band, Zankoku, filed onto the stage to take their places. The crowd's cheering intensified.

"Now, for the first event—I'll sing for you!" Zaboru declared, his voice full of excitement.

The first song he launched into was none other than the "Z-Man Theme Song," an energetic, fist-pumping anthem dedicated to one of ZAGE's most beloved characters. The audience sang along, clapping in rhythm, some even dancing in their seats.

After the Z-Man theme song, Zankoku seamlessly shifted into a series of energetic covers—ZAGE game soundtracks reimagined with a roaring rock twist instead of the usual 8 bit musc. They tore through electrifying renditions of the Mario theme, the intense Mega Man soundtrack, a lively SpongeBob OST remix, and many more fan favorites. The crowd went wild, headbanging, clapping, and singing along, completely swept up in the music. The energy in the room reached new heights, and the event felt less like a simple gathering and more like a full-blown celebration of everything fans loved about gaming and ZAGE.

Music filled the room, uniting everyone under the shared love of the worlds Zaboru and his team had built.

Zaboru grinned mischievously inside his helmet and shouted into the microphone, "Do you guys want more!?"

The crowd roared back, "YES!!"

"Alright let's rock!" Zaboru yelled, raising his guitar high into the air.

With no hesitation, Zaboru and Zankoku kicked off a fiery rock song of "GO!!". The crowd went absolutely wild as Zaboru belted out the lyrics with infectious energy:

"We are Fighting Dreamers takami wo mezashite

Fighting Dreamers narifuri kamawazu

Fighting Dreamers shinjiru ga mama ni

Oli Oli Oli Oh! Just go my way!"

The audience jumped, clapped, and sang along, their voices blending into a thunderous chorus that shook the entire ZEB building.

Zaboru's girlfriend, Ayumi, watched from the crowd, grinning proudly at her man as he dominated the stage though she felt a twinge of jealousy whenever she noticed the female guitarist female vocal, Miki Tachibana, sneaking glances at Zaboru. However, Zaboru had already reassured her—he knew Miki was interested, but he had no intention of letting it go anywhere. Trusting him completely, Ayumi relaxed and simply focused on enjoying the performance.

Meanwhile, Zaboru's sister, Sanika, joined in from the audience, singing along enthusiastically—she knew every single Zaboru and Zankoku band song by heart! The ZAGE employees, too, looked on in amazement, surprised and impressed by just how talented their boss was at performing.

Meanwhile, Akechi stood quietly among the crowd, wearing a face mask and glasses to hide his identity—after all, he was the Yakuza Prince. Despite his cautious disguise, he couldn't help but grin inside his mask, thoroughly enjoying Zaboru's electrifying performance. Nearby, Yugo, ZAGE's enthusiastic Head of Quality Control, couldn't contain himself and shouted, "BOSS-SAMA! I love you!" causing his twin sister Yuna, ZAGE's Head of Game Development, to sigh deeply. "My brother's really a lost cause," she muttered under her breath, shaking her head with an exasperated smile.

And with that, ZAGE's first-ever official event roared into full swing, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration. The festivities were just beginning, with many more thrilling events, competitions, and surprises still to come, promising a day that would be etched into everyone's memories.
