Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 150: Evolution 2
Yubei City No. 1 Spaceport – Intense Battle!
Beyond the gates and towering walls, an overwhelming swarm of nightmarish creatures and zombies surged forward. It was as if all the horrors within Yubei City had emptied out, converging on this final refuge—No. 1 Spaceport.
Buzz! Boom!
Blinding blue beams pierced the darkness, streaking toward the sky above the spaceport. More than a dozen giant sky jellyfish, large enough to blot out the stars, drifted in. As the anti-air defenses roared to life, countless severed jellyfish tentacles rained down. Some fell directly into the survivor convoys, causing heavy casualties.
"It’s over... It’s over! We can’t hold them off!" a survivor sobbed in despair.
"The climbing elevator isn’t fixed yet! Do we have any other way out?"
"Run!!"
"There’s nowhere to run! We fight! Block them!!"
"Has anyone seen my son? Please! Has anyone seen my son?!"
The plaza was in chaos. Children huddled inside vehicles, crying. Many survivors, faces set with grim determination, gripped their remaining weapons and rushed toward the defensive perimeter.
Rat-tat-tat! Rat-tat-tat!
In Zone A, Luo Shasha's hands trembled as she frantically loaded grenades into her launcher. It was her first time experiencing a siege of this scale, and the sheer terror drained the color from her lips. With each shot, she fired desperately into the swarming zombie horde.
Above, the wind howled as Jiang Yun conjured a localized hurricane, forming a wind wall to block the sky jellyfish from drifting further into the spaceport.
“Divine: Fire Gun!”
From the fortress wall, Lu Xingchen raised both hands, forming sword fingers as white-hot flames erupted from his fingertips, incinerating a grotesque, tentacle-covered humanoid abomination. A towering inferno ignited atop the walls.
Rat-tat-tat!
Luo Ye, positioned nearby, emptied the last rounds from his M556 light machine gun. Tossing aside the spent magazine, he reached over his shoulder, gripping his Steel-Slaying Greatsword, and with a powerful throw—

Whoosh!
The massive blade streaked through the air like a meteor, impaling a black centipede-like creature that had lunged at Shasha, pinning it against the wall. Luo Ye charged forward, stomping down with brutal force to crush the monster’s head, then wrenched his sword free, stepping protectively in front of his sister.
"Brother, be careful!" Shasha called out in alarm.
With their long-range weapons depleted, the fight was about to get even more dangerous. Shasha took cover behind Luo Ye, rapidly firing grenades into the fray.
"B-Class Eerie Entity detected!"
A comms officer from the Iron Guard Battalion shouted the warning just before a spider-like limb plunged down from above, skewering him straight through the head.
"It’s a Fog Spider!"
Gunfire erupted in unison.
The Fog Spider, cloaked in dense mist, had silently scaled the fortress walls.
"AHH!!"
Luo Ye roared as he charged forward, cleaving twice in quick succession, severing two of the Fog Spider’s legs. Shasha fired a grenade launcher round directly at its torso, knocking the creature off balance. As it staggered, its eerie bluish-green body was revealed through the mist.
Swish!
A transparent spear shot through the air, piercing the spider’s abdomen. Its insides spilled out in a disgusting heap.
"That’s not a B-Class! Stay alert!" Ren Huiyan warned.
Her words had barely left her mouth when a shadowy, tentacle-covered silhouette emerged from the fog-covered wall.
Squelch!
A sickening, wet sound echoed as four or five brownish-red, centipede-like appendages shot out from the mist.
Impaled soldiers dangled like skewered meat, lifted into the air as they screamed in agony.
One of the appendages swept through the battlefield, knocking down Lu Xingchen and a wave of defenders like bowling pins.
Shasha’s eyes widened in horror. Her hands trembled as she scrambled to reload, accidentally knocking over her ammo bag. Grenades scattered across the ground.
At that moment—
Two more tentacles lashed out!
One shot toward Jiang Yun, attempting to skewer him mid-air, while the other barreled straight toward Shasha.
This Eerie Entity wasn’t just strong—it was intelligent, deliberately targeting the most dangerous combatants while hiding in the Fog Spider’s mist.
Jiang Yun’s expression darkened. As the tentacle lunged toward him, he kicked out with a wind-imbued blade, slashing precisely at its base.
“Huiyan! Protect Shasha!” he shouted.
Clang!
Jiang Yun’s Wind Blade struck the tentacle, sending a metallic ring through the air.
It was tougher than expected! The furry appendage, deceptively soft, was even stronger than the Red Centipede’s carapace. His attack only carved a shallow wound, failing to sever it.
Below, Ren Huiyan hurled two more transparent spears, detonating with compressed air upon impact—but even those couldn’t halt the tentacle’s advance toward Shasha.
"Shit!"
"AHH!!"
Shasha, still gathering grenades, froze in terror as the tentacle shot toward her at blinding speed.
Splat!
A massive figure suddenly appeared, shielding her with his own body—
And took the hit straight through the chest.
"Brother!!!"
Shasha’s grenades clattered to the ground as she let out a heart-wrenching scream.
Luo Ye gritted his teeth, blood gushing from his mouth. Even so, he grabbed the tentacle with both hands, refusing to let go as he was shoved backward toward his sister.
"RAHH!"
His chest bled profusely, drenching his arms in red. Blood streamed from his mouth and nose, but he held firm, planting his stance—
And yanked the monstrous appendage with all his might!
With a mighty heave, Luo Ye ripped the creature from the mist, dragging it into full view.
A massive, alien leech-like Eerie Entity, covered in writhing tendrils, thrashed violently as it was forcibly pulled into the open.
"YOU’RE DEAD!!!"
Lu Xingchen’s eyes blazed with fury.
With a furious stomp, he launched himself skyward, flames roaring around him as he summoned an enormous inferno—
"Divine: Sunfall Blaze!!"
BOOM!
A pillar of fire erupted, illuminating all of Zone A.
The tendril monster screeched in agony, its tentacles flailing wildly, knocking over ammo crates and vehicles as it desperately thrashed to escape the flames.
But Luo Ye refused to let go!
At the same time, Jiang Yun conjured a mini tornado, fanning the inferno into a blazing firestorm.
"AHHHH!"
Luo Ye, spitting blood, used the last of his strength to hold the creature inside the flames.
The stench of burning flesh filled the air. Within seconds, the Eerie Entity’s movements slowed. Its blackened body stiffened, then—
It stopped moving.
With a final yank, Luo Ye ripped the spear-like tentacle from his own chest. Blood gushed forth as he collapsed to his knees.
"Brother!!!"
Shasha rushed forward, tears streaming.
Luo Ye tried to speak, but blood filled his mouth. His gaze wavered.
"Shasha... I..."
Just as all hope seemed lost—
Lu Xingchen’s expression changed.
He gasped, watching in shock as Luo Ye’s muscles and veins began to glow a deep crimson.
Blood surged toward him.
Even the black smoke from the burned creature was being absorbed into his body.
"He... he’s...!"
Lu Xingchen’s eyes widened in realization—
"Shasha, get back! Your brother’s Ability—it's evolving!!"
