BOOM!

The eerie entities surrounded the entire train. In that instant, it seemed as though the monsters had sensed the fear inside the train. With a shrill screech, one of the creatures charged directly at the front window's grating armor of the Infinite Train’s cockpit.

~!

Some of the creatures began to crash into and tear at the train's steel plates.

"Raaah!!"

A gigantic head-spider emitted a sharp screech as countless pale human arms flailed from its feet, shaking violently, sending chills down the spine of anyone watching.

"Ahhh!"

In that split second, Lin Xian’s first reaction was to take control of the Infinite Train and accelerate furiously.

"Attack!" Lin Xian’s heart raced, knowing these creatures had finally been provoked. He immediately gave the order for everyone to take action.

WHOOSH—!!

The Mechanical Heart roared to life, and the engines of the Whale 03E Heavy Gas Turbine Locomotive and the nuclear-powered train hummed with power. The train surged forward as Lin Xian raised his hand and initiated mechanical manufacturing. A long, spiked, heavy protective plate emerged outside the front window.

BOOM!

The head-spider slammed into the protective plate with immense force, sending blood and flesh splattering everywhere with a painful shriek.

Lin Xian wasn’t sure what this monster’s capabilities were, so he decided to create some initial protection for the window.

At that moment, KIKI dashed forward, raising her hand to unleash a powerful psychic wave, pushing the spiked protective plate along with it. The head-spider’s claws scraped across the side of the train, emitting sparks, while a massive black centipede atop the roof rolled off with a screech.

BANG BANG!

"Everyone, fire!!"

In a critical moment, Lin Xian immediately ordered.

Rat-tat-tat, BOOM, CRACK-BOOM!

At his command, the convoy members in the living carriages began firing their guns through the shooting holes, unloading a torrent of bullets onto the creatures’ limbs and feet. The bullets tore into the monsters, showering a mess of unidentifiable meat chunks.

In the 5th carriage, Da Lou, holding a Gatling gun, stood ready in front of the automatic door, while Lu Xingchen opened the rooftop platform. BANG BANG BANG! As the roof opened, a serpent-like head and numerous black insects scrambled inside.

But in that moment, a pillar of crimson flames erupted into the sky!

“God·Burning Heaven!”

“Demon beasts, all of you, make way for me!”

BOOM!

The searing flames shot out from the combat window, with such force that the circular window’s fire eruption speed doubled. The flames reached up to several meters high and incinerated the black insects, blasting them out of the window. The strange serpent-head howled and retracted back.

The automatic door opened, and in an instant, Da Lou began pulling the trigger. The K23 Gatling Gun roared to life, its high-speed firing shredding the squirming tendrils. The stench of gunpowder filled the air as the fiery blast obliterated one of the furry, scorpion-tail-like appendages.

BANG BANG BANG — A barrage of ferocious creatures began to collide violently with the train's armored exterior, with the roof shaking.

The giant black centipede clung to the train's side, trying to gnaw at the armor. Hundreds of insect feet clinked against the metal, sending shivers down one’s spine.

Lin Xian, standing in the cockpit, felt the train being pulled and slowed by the creatures. His eyes sharpened, and he clenched his jaw.

"So you like climbing the train, huh? Fine, I’ll give you something to hold on to!"

The Mechanical Heart activated! High-voltage electricity surged through the sides of the Infinite Train, and the silver blades of energy began to hum with a faint electrical charge. Meanwhile, the blades started to glow, and arcs of electricity flashed!

With the appearance of these hundred-meter-long electric blades, the strange entities clinging to the sides of the train screeched in agony. Their limbs shattered, and the centipede's abdomen was sliced open. The creatures screamed as they rolled off the track guardrails.

Finally, the Infinite Train accelerated as planned. The flames from the explosion caused by Lu Xingchen’s actions spread to the roof, setting it alight. From a distance, the train's roof appeared to be burning with a raging fire. The train’s speed increased, and the sound of explosions rang out as they tore through the night.

“We’ve shaken them off! KIKI, put out the fire!”

As the train picked up speed, Lin Xian worried that the flames might spread through the armor to the carriages, so he ordered KIKI to take care of the fire and the remaining strange entities.

"Okay!"

BANG CRACK—BANG CRACK!

KIKI swiftly flew toward the rear of the train and used her psychic wave to knock the flames off the roof, sending the burnt remains of the strange entities flying off with it.

"Screech! Ahhh!"

The shrill cries of the creatures echoed as they relentlessly pursued the Infinite Train. In the pitch-black forest, an overwhelming number of black insects emerged, crawling toward the tracks.

“How can there be so many monsters? Could it really be because of the predator effect?” Chen Sixuan said, incredulously, watching the road ahead as more unknown black insects continued to emerge from the forests.

Lin Xian's expression was grim. Whether it was due to the predator effect or the dark tide from the three Abyss Zones, the situation made it clear that the night was much more dangerous than before.

The continuous emergence of monsters seemed to be a direct pursuit of the train. They kept pouring out from the forest, as though they had been tracking them the whole time.

They had originally believed that having more daylight would improve the survivors’ safety and survival chances, but little did they know, the dangers of the night had increased exponentially. Just earlier, the train had been overrun by strange entities, and just the thought of it made everyone’s skin crawl.

In the deep forest, the ground trembled with more monstrous roars. The train hurtled forward at full speed. Lin Xian couldn’t afford to be careless at all.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The fierce collisions continued to echo as the train’s exterior armor took the brunt of the impact. Thanks to the electric blades on the armor, no monsters could climb the train, but the smaller black insects managed to get up there quickly.

"Dammit!" Lin Xian cursed under his breath. The nightmarish creatures in the darkness reminded him of the chaos they faced back in Yubei City, where groups of monsters had rushed at them.

Lin Xian couldn't help but feel a mix of anger and relief. At least, he had made the most of the daylight hours, preparing the carriages and armor in time. Otherwise, if night fell too soon, the casualties would have been severe.

The night seemed endless, as though there were always terrifying creatures lurking, waiting to spring out from the shadows.

"Lin Xian, look!"

Suddenly, Chen Sixuan called out in surprise.

Lin Xian lifted his head and noticed a light in the distance along the track.

"There... it looks like... someone?"

Chen Sixuan’s eyes narrowed as she saw a figure standing in the middle of the track up ahead.

"A zombie?"

"It doesn't look like one."

Beep beep beep.

The train's responder machine suddenly rang, and a mechanical voice echoed from inside.

"Up ahead, please merge onto Track 3."

"What?!" Lin Xian exclaimed in shock, quickly pressing the responder button, "Who’s speaking?"

There was no answer.

The mechanical voice seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

At that moment, Chen Sixuan patted Lin Xian’s shoulder. He looked up, only to realize the figure on the track had disappeared, and in its place, a new track junction had appeared. The junction had been altered!

“The track’s been changed!”

“No time to care about that, just push forward!”

At this moment, countless eerie entities rushed out from the darkness, and the swarming black insects crawled onto the tracks, making a noise like rain pouring down.

Lin Xian didn’t have time to worry about the track junction. With no other choice, he drove the Infinite Train onto a side track, pushing through with all his might.

The side track, illuminated by the train's lights, seemed to lead into a dark forest. The trees loomed overhead, casting shadows, and steep mountain rocks filled one side of the train’s view.
