Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 108: Ye Xuan’s Injury
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Ye Xuan’s Injury
He didn’t want her to find out that he was hurt because he didn’t want to worry the girl or make her feel guilty.
However, Chu Miao seemed to have guessed his thoughts and insisted on seeing his back.
"Let me see how bad the injury is. You don’t need to pretend or hide, I know that you’ve gotten hurt.
If you don’t let me check then I will feel guilty and won’t be able to sleep. It was my fault that you got hurt." Chu Miao said when he saw the resistant look on the man’s face.
It was obvious that he didn’t want her to see the injury, but she had to see it and determine how to treat it.
Seeing how worried and anxious she was, Ye Xuan had no choice but to turn around and let her look.
When Chu Miao saw the blood oozing out of the three obvious gashes, she felt her eyes turn sour and tears glimmered in them.
It was her fault for being distracted while fighting. How could she forget the rules of war just because her soul had transmigrated to a different time and space and merged with the other part that had never fought?
In this apocalyptic world, she didn’t have the luxury of being an innocent little girl. Her momentary distraction had already caused someone to suffer, it wouldn’t happen again.
She sniffled quietly and tried to move the clothes at the place where the wounds were but found it difficult.
To see the extent of the wounds, the clothes at the back had to be cut open.
She looked around the building they were in and saw a discarded chair in one corner. She went over and took it to test its sturdiness. Finding that it was a good chair just covered in dust, she used her water superpower to clean it and brought it over for Ye Xuan to sit on.
"Sit here and let me take a look at your wound." She said as soon as she put the chair down.
Ye Xuan looked at the girl who was moving around him like a busy bee and felt touched.
He had seen her red eyes and heard her sniffles but said nothing. She was a proud girl and wouldn’t want anyone to see her at her weak moment. Especially since their relationship hasn’t crossed the barrier of friendship yet.
So, he pretended not to see her vulnerability and comforted her.
"It’s not a big deal, you don’t have to worry too much." He said as he lowered himself and sat down.
"What do you mean not to worry? And what do you mean by not being a big deal? Will it only be a big deal if you got scratched by a zombie?
Luckily, it’s just a mutated rat and not a zombie rat. But we still don’t know what consequences there is to being scratched by mutated animals either." Chu Miao reprimanded Ye Xuan for taking the issue so lightly.
At the same time, she took a dagger strapped to her boots and started to cut away the fabric around the wound.
"We’ll find out if there are any implications later. But for the moment, apart from some burning sensation in the wound, I don’t feel anything else." Ye Xuan decided to be honest because he knew that if he kept saying he was fine, Chu Miao would worry even more thinking that he was covering up his injuries to not worry her.
"You better stay still and let me check your wound. Don’t hide your real situation only to develop further problems later." Chu Miao replied to Ye Xuan in a domineering tone.
Ye Xuan felt that he shouldn’t argue with a worried woman and wisely kept quiet.
He let her cut off the fabric at the back and expose the three gashes caused by the rat claws.
When Chu Miao finally saw the condition of the skin at the back, she gasped in shock. She had expected a large wound since so much blood was oozing out of it, but she had not expected to see the sight in front of her.
Just how sharp were those rat claws? Looking at the wound that was formed after being scratched through layers of clothes, she didn’t want to imagine what would happen if those claws were swiped at a person’s neck.
There wouldn’t be a chance for treatment. Those claws had the potential to separate the head from the rest of the body.
Now looking at the wounds that had the skin and flesh almost turned inside out and the bones visible, she felt that sour feeling surface again and this time the tears fell.
This man was so stupid. Why did he use his body as a shield for her? Didn’t he know that she could protect herself? She didn’t need him to sacrifice his life for her.
Luckily, that wound was on his back and didn’t touch anything fatal. If it had been on his chest, she could imagine that even his heart would be beating in an open chest.
Ye Xuan could tell that Chu Miao was crying and even though he was happy that she would shed tears for him, he didn’t like to make her sad.
Hearing her cry felt as if a knife was stabbed into his chest and twisted in his heart. It was more painful than the wound on his back that was burning.
He couldn’t care about her dignity anymore and stood up from the chair then turned around.
Seeing the tears falling from her eyes made the pain in his heart even more severe. It was so painful that he almost couldn’t breathe.
He hadn’t experienced that kind of searing pain even when his grandfather passed away. He couldn’t even begin to describe it.
He moved forward a step and enveloped Chu Miao in his arms again. The same way he had done when he protected her before.
He didn’t even care about the pain on his back that had doubled from the wound being stretched.
