Chapter 135: Chapter 135: The Hidden Cave

"Let’s see what’s at the end of this path fire, we can figure out other things later." Chu Miao said as she started to use her spiritual power to scan the path ahead.

Apart from some insects that don’t pose any danger to them, she didn’t ’see’ anything else of concern. This alleviated some of the nervousness she felt caused by the quietness in the cave

However, she was still vigilant. Just because she didn’t ’see’ anything doesn’t mean that there was nothing.

After walking for fifteen minutes, the path became wider and two people could walk side-by-side. As such, Chu Miao stopped walking behind her brother and started walking beside him.

"This path seems to be man-made." Chu Hao shone his flashlight on the walls and ceiling that seemed to have been carved by hand.

"Let’s get to the end and see what’s inside. This shouldn’t have been a cave belonging to a demon beast. It should be a cave abode left behind by a senior." Chu Miao replied as the light started to appear ahead.

Soon, the space in front of them expanded and a room measuring thirty square meters presented itself. What was shocking was that the room was very clean without even a speck of dust on the limited furniture inside.

At the center of the room, there was a stone bed surrounded by crystal clear stones that resembled mutton jade. Except that these stones had a slight fluctuation of spiritual energy and were obviously used to set up a formation around the bed.

There was nothing on the bed but Chu Miao could feel a certain attraction towards it. She was sure that there was more than meets the eye when it came to that simple-looking stone bed.

On the right side of the room, there was a stone table. From its appearance, it should have been made using the same material as the bed. Except that the jade-like stones were missing.

On top of the table, there were several scrolls and books covered in beast skin. One look and one could tell that the owner of this cave was an organized person.

The scrolls were arranged on one side and the books on the other. In the middle, there was a set of the four study treasures placed in a row.

Just like everything else in the cave, the things on the table were clean without any blemish or dust.

"There must be a kind of formation here that keeps dirt away. It doesn’t make sense that everything inside this cave, which has obviously not been visited for centuries or even thousands of years is so clean." Chu Miao said.

"Then the person who set up the formation must be quite knowledgeable in arrays." Chu Hao added as he walked towards the table.

He didn’t touch anything and just examined the things on the table with his eyes. Unfortunately, he couldn’t understand what they were for without opening them.

Chu Miao, on the other hand, didn’t have so many thoughts as she picked up one of the scrolls and opened it. Fortunately, it didn’t have a seal.

Inside the first scroll were insights on the path of cultivation. It had some details on what to do when one could not overcome a barrier and breakthrough.

Another scroll talked about the art of dual cultivation. However, unlike the dual cultivation that Chu Miao remembered that some cultivators practiced before, the process described in the scroll was clearly different.

In the ancient era, where half of her soul came from, some cultivators were termed evil cultivators because they would imprison female cultivators and use them as cauldrons to improve their cultivation.

The practice was perverted and evil because it would siphon the spiritual energy and cultivation of the woman and turn her into a useless person over time while the man became stronger.

Because of the implications of such practices, the emperor had passed a rule that gave citizens and other cultivators the right to arrest and present any person found to be practicing this kind of cultivation in court for trial.

Unfortunately, people just learned how to hide their insidious deeds better. Moreover, women also found a way to turn the tables on men and harvest the benefits of dual cultivation while turning the men into useless tools.

She had always hated anything that had to do with dual cultivation. So, seeing the scroll there, at first she thought that the Chu family also had ancestors who had practiced something so despicable.

Fortunately, after reading a little, she realized that the dual cultivation mentioned in the scroll was different. Not only does it not harm one party while benefiting the other, but it also helps to improve the cultivation of those involved.

Even though the process was basically the same, there was a cultivation technique that the couple involved must use so that both could benefit and not harm the other.

She decided to take the scroll and study it in depth later when she had time.

Another scroll had insights into array formations, detailing some of the arrays that had been challenging her. Such resources were not available even in the ancient era she came from.

She didn’t look at the other scrolls as she assumed that they were just as useful. She picked up the book at the top of the pile and the first few pages had a message for the person who got the recognition of the space ring.

The gist of the message was that everything inside the ring was prepared for their use to protect the Chu family and preserve humanity.

From this, it was obvious that the creator of the space ring knew about the apocalypse even though it came to happen thousands of years later.

Chu Hao was also standing next to his sister and reading the scrolls and books with her. Upon seeing this message, he was amazed.

"How did our ancestors know what would happen thousands of years into the future and prepare so many things for the apocalypse?" He asked as he read the rest of the message that told of some of the challenges the descendants would face while surviving the apocalypse.

Even human-beasts were mentioned which he assumed was referring to zombies. They were humans, after all, who turned into flesh-eating monsters, thus passing them as beasts.
