Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 163: Accepting Qi Long’s Team
Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Accepting Qi Long’s Team
When Qi Long heard Ye Xuan agree, he was overjoyed and told him that he and his brothers were going to submit their resignation letters that day and would leave as soon as possible.
After giving him the exact address, he was about to hang up his phone when he walked to the window and looked outside, only to realize that the building had flooded almost to the third floor.
He knew where the second military base was. It was in relatively higher ground and most likely wasn’t flooded yet. They could leave in a vehicle, but won’t get far.
By this time, City A was completely under water. They would need boats to navigate their way to his side. But he doubted that they could get one.
After thinking about it, he asked him to complete the discharge procedures first then call him before they leave. He would find a way to meet them with a boat.
Qi Long was overjoyed when he heard that and immediately said goodbye and went to give the good news to his comrades.
The others also felt happy and each started to prepare to leave as soon as their discharge was processed. They didn’t care that it was still raining heavily and were only concerned about leaving.
Everyone went to write and submit their resignation letters.
Since he had already agreed to take them as his subordinates, Ye Xuan wouldn’t let them suffer. After hanging up the phone, he started to think about how to go and get them before they encounter any accidents.
But first, he needed to talk to Chu Miao first. He wondered whether she was free at that moment?
Dialing her number, the phone rang twice before it was picked up. It was as if she was waiting for his call.
"Ah Xuan. Have you advanced to the second Qi refinement level?" An excited voice came from the end causing Ye Xuan’s serious face to crack into a warm smile.
"Yes, do you have time to come over for a while?" Ye Xuan replied with a gentle tone.
That voice that sounded like a cello to Chu Miao made her heart beat a little faster than normal.
"Of course, I have time. I’ll be there in a second." Chu Miao replied before hanging up the phone.
Ye Xuan looked at the now quiet device in his hand and shook his head, only to hear a knock at the door. He wondered if his brothers had come after getting his message?
Walking through the living room to the front door, he opened it and to his astonishment, the person standing there was his very girlfriend who had just hung up the phone five seconds ago.
"Did you teleport here?" He asked with certainty.
"Yeah, why walk all the way when there is a shortcut?" Chu Miao replied as she took a step forward and walked into the house. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Ye Xuan didn’t mind her behavior and was even happy that she wasn’t so restrained around him anymore.
He closed the door behind him and took two large strides arriving behind her and wrapping his arms around her from behind.
He lowered his head and sniffed her natural warm rose scent, and the smile on his lips widened. For some reason, her scent had a calming effect on him.
His emotions that had been stirred by what Qi Long had said calmed down.
Chu Miao held the hands in front of her stomach and leaned slightly back. Snuggling on Ye Xuan’s wide and firm chest and soaking in his warmth.
"What’s the matter?" Even though they hadn’t been together for long, somehow she could tell that something was bothering him.
"Let’s sit down first." Ye Xuan said as he let go of her and only held her hand, leading her to the sofa in the living room.
Once they were seated, he recounted the phone call he had received from Qi Long and everything he had said, including his request to join their team.
Just as he had expected, Chu Miao didn’t even need to think about it and agreed without hesitation to have those soldiers join them.
"It’s just as Grandpa Li had said, those people no longer care about protecting the country or citizens anymore. It’s as if the apocalypse had turned them into upright military men into bandits fighting for territory. Even the oaths they took have been long forgotten.
I can only imagine the situation common people will face once those bases are completed and people move in." Chu Miao said with a heavy heart, thinking that another portion of humans would probably be wiped out by those cold blooded leaders.
"That’s what I thought when I heard what Qi Long said. To have an entire team of elite soldiers almost wiped out for meaningless missions when they could have sent reinforcements to prevent such carnage is already inhumane.
And these are people who are useful to them. I can only imagine what they would do to those they deem useless for their intentions." Ye Xuan replied with some apprehension. He could help those few soldiers who requested to join his team, but what about the vast number of people scattered in the country?
He couldn’t protect all the people on the planet, but his country was his responsibility. Whether he had retired from the military or not, his oath had never expired. Which was why he had gone on missions even after retirement.
Looking at him thinking so deeply with a frown etching on his face, Chu Miao stretched her hand to smoothen the frown and asked in a light tone, "Are you worried about other citizens suffering at the hands of these people in the name of protecting them in the base once completed?"
"You know me well." Ye Xuan replied with a smile surfacing on his previously frowning face. "Even though protecting those leaving soldiers is easy, what about other citizens?"
"I told you about building a base before, right? My idea is to adopt an ancient-style base like a sect.
