Apocalypse : Transmigrated With Milf System-Chapter 23: A Humble Welcome
Chapter 23: A Humble Welcome
The aftermath of Ruel's attack was a scene of utter destruction. Twisted metal and shattered remains littered the road, a testament to the RV Battleship's raw power.
"Well," Ruel said, taking a deep breath, his voice slightly hoarse, "that was... decisive." He glanced at Mei Feng, who was still processing the carnage. "You okay?"
Mei Feng nodded slowly, her expression a mixture of awe and unease. "Yeah... I think so. You... you really took care of them."
"They asked for it," Ruel said, his voice hard.
"They asked for something that wasn't in their fate. So as a merciful budhha, i had to send them on their way to enlightment."
He put the RV Battleship back in motion, the powerful engine rumbling to life once more.
As they moved forward, however, the consequences of their actions became apparent.
The noise of the battle, the explosions and the crushing of metal, had attracted unwanted attention.
"Uh oh," Mei Feng said, pointing ahead. "Looks like we've got company."
A small horde of zombies, drawn by the commotion, was converging on them from all directions.
They shambled and clawed, their grotesque forms filling the road.
"Great," Ruel muttered. "More of these guys."
But the RV Battleship was more than a match for the undead.
Ruel expertly maneuvered the vehicle, plowing through the horde with brutal efficiency.
Zombies were crushed beneath the massive wheels, their bodies pulverized into a bloody paste. The RV plowed through them.
As they continued their advance, smashing through the relentless wave of zombies, a structure loomed in the distance.
It looked like a fortified settlement, a human base surrounded by walls and watchtowers.
"Looks like civilization," Ruel said, a note of cautious optimism in his voice. "Maybe they are the Eagle base, in the mouths of that monkey face? "
As they got closer, a figure on the wall spotted the approaching RV Battleship.
His eyes widened in disbelief at the sight of the massive, futuristic vehicle. He grabbed his radio, his voice urgent and panicked.
"Patrol team to command! Patrol team to command! We have a... a situation! A massive vehicle is approaching the base! "
"It's like nothing I've ever seen! It's... it's tearing through the horde!"
Another voice crackled back through the radio. "Repeat, patrol team! What kind of vehicle? Hostile intent?"
"Unknown!" the patrolman yelled, his eyes glued to the approaching RV Battleship.
"It's... it's heavily armored, some kind of futuristic design! And it's covered in... in zombie guts! I don't know their intent, but they're not slowing down!"
"All units, alert!" the voice on the radio barked. "Prepare for potential hostiles!"
"Seal the gates! I want every weapon trained on that thing! And someone get the Boss... or whoever's in charge up here, NOW!"
The patrolman on the wall watched as the RV Battleship continued its relentless advance, a mixture of fear and awe gripping him.
Whatever this vehicle was, it was unlike anything they had ever encountered, and it was heading straight for their base.
-
As the RV Battleship rumbled closer to the fortified base, Ruel decided to take a more... diplomatic approach.
He activated the external holographic projector, a feature he hadn't had occasion to use until now.
A shimmering, life-sized image of his face appeared above the vehicle, hovering in the air like a colossal, disembodied head.
"Greetings!" Ruel's voice boomed from the RV Battleship's external speakers, amplified and slightly distorted by the holographic projection.
"We come in peace! Well, mostly. We're interested in having a look around your... establishment."
"So, if you could be so kind as to open the gates, that would be just swell." He gave a friendly, if slightly unsettling, smile.
The patrolman on the wall nearly jumped out of his skin.
He recoiled, his eyes widening in sheer terror as he stared at the giant, floating head.
He fumbled with his rifle, his hands shaking so badly he could barely hold it.
"Wha... what the...?" he stammered, his voice barely a whisper.
He swallowed hard, trying to regain some semblance of composure. He had to follow orders, but this was beyond anything he had been trained for.
"Y-you... you want to come in?" he squeaked, his voice trembling.
He glanced nervously at the massive RV Battleship looming behind the holographic projection, its size and futuristic design sending shivers down his spine.
Ruel, seeing the patrolman's obvious distress, softened his tone slightly.
"That's right. Just a friendly visit. We're not here to cause any trouble. "
"We're just... passing through, and your base if the first, in the past 3 days, that we saw on the way.."
The patrolman fidgeted, his eyes darting between Ruel's giant holographic face and the imposing vehicle.
"I... I don't have the authority to... to let you in," he stammered, his voice barely audible. "The... the Boss... or whoever's in charge... they'll have to decide.
" He took a shaky breath. "Can... can you wait? Please? Someone... someone will be here soon to... to welcome you."
He said the last part with a forced, weak smile, trying to sound more confident than he felt.
Ruel sighed, the holographic projection of his face flickering slightly with his exasperation.
"Wait? Seriously? We've been through a lot to get here, and you want us to just... wait?" He rolled his eyes, the patrolman was frightened till his legs trembled lightly.
Mei Feng, standing beside Ruel inside the RV Battleship, placed a hand on his arm.
"Ruel," she said gently, her voice calm and reassuring, "it's okay. A little longer won't hurt. We don't want to start any trouble."
Ruel grumbled, but nodded in reluctant agreement. "Fine. But if they keep us waiting too long..."
A tense silence descended as they waited, the RV Battleship looming large and imposing before the fortified gates.
After what felt like an eternity, the gates creaked open, revealing a heavily armed welcoming committee.
A convoy of vehicles, modified and menacing, rolled out of the base:
Humvees and trucks bristling with mounted machine guns and grenade launchers.
The weapons were all pointed directly at the RV Battleship, a clear display of force.
At the head of the convoy was an armored luxury car, its opulence a stark contrast to the grim surroundings.
Seated inside was a man who could only be described as... large.
He was grossly overweight, his flesh overflowing the confines of his tailored suit, his face a mass of jowls and arrogance. This was Boss Fatty.
Boss Fatty emerged from the car, his movements slow and deliberate, as if every step was a monumental effort.
He strutted towards the RV Battleship, his eyes narrowed, his expression a mixture of suspicion and disdain.
"So," he boomed, his voice surprisingly high-pitched for his size,
"you're the ones with the... the car. It's not every day we see outsiders, especially with something that... big."
He gestured dismissively at the RV Battleship but his eyes still glued to it, trying to downplay his obvious curiosity and unease. "What's your business here? This isn't exactly a tourist destination."
Ruel activated the external speakers again, his voice clear and steady.
"We're just passing through."
"We were hoping for a brief respite, maybe mingle with some fellow humans."
"It's been a while since we've seen a proper settlement." He tried to sound casual, but there was an underlying tension in his voice.
Boss Fatty considered this, his small eyes studying the RV Battleship with a mixture of fascination and suspicion.
After a moment, he nodded slowly. "Fine. You can come in. But understand this: we're watching you and the car" he gestured to the RV Battleship,
"stay outside. And you follow my rules." He puffed out his chest, asserting his authority.
The machine guns and grenade launchers remained trained on the RV Battleship, a constant reminder of the precariousness of their situation.
Ruel and Mei Feng exchanged a look. It was a risky move, but they had little choice.
Inside the RV Battleship, after the tense encounter with Boss Fatty and his welcoming committee,
Ruel and Mei Feng spoke in hushed tones, trying to make sense of the situation.
"Well, that was... welcoming," Ruel said dryly, leaning back against one of the plush, futuristic seats. "I felt the love."
Mei Feng sighed, running a hand through her hair.
"They're on edge, Ruel. You can't blame them. We rolled up in a giant, heavily armed... thing. We probably look like we're about to invade."
Ruel frowned. "But we said we were just passing through! We just wanted to rest!"
"I know," Mei Feng said, her voice gentle but firm, "but they don't know that. "
"All they see is a massive war machine. We were targets the moment they laid eyes on us. Anyone would be vigilant."
She paused, then looked at him with a thoughtful expression.
"We need to think about how we approach other settlements. "
"We can't keep showing up in the RV Battleship like this. It's too... intimidating. It puts everyone on the defensive immediately."
Ruel considered this, his initial annoyance giving way to a grudging acceptance.
"You're right," he admitted. "I guess I was just... excited to finally have a decent ride. But I see your point." ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"Next time," Mei Feng suggested, "we leave the RV Battleship outside. Somewhere hidden, if possible."
"We approach the base on foot, like... normal people. We can say we're travelers, looking for supplies or a place to rest."
"We need to seem less... threatening."
Ruel nodded slowly, a plan forming in his mind.
"Okay, I get it. Low profile. More... friendly. We can do that." He glanced around the luxurious interior of the RV Battleship.
"It's going to be hard to leave this thing behind, though."
Mei Feng smiled wryly. "We'll manage, Ruel. We always do. But if we want to survive out here, we need to adapt."
"And that means... maybe not showing off our giant, futuristic RV to every Tom, Dick, and Fatty we meet."
