Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that Lei Qian was used to following her lead, or else things would have become troublesome. She raised her head and turned to look at Yu Miaomiao, who was still staring at their team, and her eyes flickered with unease.

However, Bai Meiyue ignored the woman and headed back to the car with Lei Qian. As soon as she took a step close to the car in which she came, Bai Jixuan caught her by the wrist and pulled her right inside. Bai Zhan, who was inside the car, was sweating all over. He was a simple farmer and had never seen such a thing before; it made him really nervous.

It was one thing that they had fought and killed commoners, but Bai Zhan wasn’t prepared to go against the army. Not yet, at least.

Thus, the second Bai Jixuan pushed Bai Meiyue inside; he didn’t even think to wait for his second brother to step inside and floored the accelerator, and Bai Jixuan didn’t even ask him to stop. He simply kept up with the car and jumped right inside, but not before kicking the soldier who tried to pull him back.

"That’s dangerous, bastard!" He shouted at the soldier who was now kissing the ground.

He slid inside the car just in time for Lei Qian to drive over and cover their car with his own. He did it to make sure that Bai Meiyue wouldn’t be shot or hit, as she was the one who broke the encirclement and stopped the situation from escalating in the way Yu Miaomiao wanted it to.

When he felt a burning gaze, he lit up his right hand and turned to look at the woman who had tried to make him her pet. Though he didn’t throw the fireball and attack Yu Miaomiao, he made his stance clear. If they tried to stop them, then he was not worried about going to war with them.

"Go! Go! Go! Drive faster!" Yang Chunhua yelled at Wan Guofu. She peered at the soldiers and Yu Miaomiao, whose expression was twisted in a furious scowl. Though Lei Qian made it impossible for the small army that Yu Miaomiao brought with her to attack them, she knew that if Yu Miaomiao wanted them to shoot, they would definitely do it.

Liu Mei used her skills to create a bunch of small metallic soldiers with the melted blobs of the guns that the soldiers were holding. These soldiers stepped between the fleet of their cars.

Bai Meiyue was also quite nervous. She peered past Lei Qian’s car and looked at Yu Miaomiao. Her eyes were moving as she took in the entire scene in front of her and sighed.

There was no way Yu Miaomiao was going to let this go.

Of all people, she had to end up with the trickiest one!

Bai Meiyue knew that even though she had managed to stop a fight from happening, she had still given a blow to Yu Miaomiao. Although Yu Miaomiao didn’t make a move, it was because she was still not as strong and powerful as she was in Bai Meiyue’s past life. But once the base had stabilised enough, she would never let this humiliation go. She would definitely chase after Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian, and that’s when their leisurely days would come to a stop.

Not that there were many left with Lei Qian’s grandmother thrown in the mix.

"What’s going on? Who was that woman?" Lei Qian asked as soon as they came to a stop in the complex’s garage.

"Her name is Yu Miaomiao," Wan Guofu answered as he stepped out of the car. "She is from the army. At least that’s what she told us, and she has been gathering supernatural beings from all over the city." He paused and eyed Lei Qian with some interest before adding, "And she is quite interested in you, Boss Lei."

"How can you say so?"

"Because she sent a special order to recruit to the base," Bai Meiyue replied to Lei Qian with a glare as she stepped down from the car. She was annoyed with the beautiful face of this man, which attracted all kinds of bees and butterflies.

"Did you agree?"

"How could we agree? We are not idiots." Yang Chunhua spat on the floor, and while looking at Grandma Lei, she continued, "Though Yu Miaomiao made it sound really nice, we know that there is no way that woman is going around handing so many good things without a reason. Now that I have seen her, I know that she is a calculating woman. How can she treat ability users well?"

"Only fools will believe in her lies."

When Grandma Lei heard her words, she was furious and couldn’t help but say, "Well, I think that woman is doing nothing but heaven’s work. She is helping those who need it, and everyone keeps doubting her for no reason."

"Please calm down, Old Madam." Lu Yu looked at the elderly woman coldly. He wiped the blood off his face and stated, "We will think this thing through thoroughly; there is no need to rush to make a decision. But first, we need to deal with Old Master’s injuries."

"Bah!" Old Madam Lei spat on the ground just like Yang Chunhua and turned to look at Bai Meiyue. She tipped her chin haughtily at Bai Meiyue and said, "Since she is the one who brought us here, then we will leave the matter in her hands. Listen to me, young woman. If something happens to my husband, I—"

"You will what?" Lei Qian turned to look at his grandmother and narrowed his eyes at her. "Let me tell you, this has nothing to do with Yueyue. The one who doesn’t want to join the base is me. Even if she didn’t stop me, I would have never joined the base. Do you understand, dear grandmother?"
