Chapter 822 -817: The Last Chance
The Bronze Giant Dragon agilely weaved through the steep mountain peaks and quickly arrived in front of Bai Qi and the others.
“Bronze Dragon Mkoado, pays respect to the two deities.”
The Bronze Giant Dragon bowed respectfully to the Sun Beetle and Anubis, and they, evidently used to such treatment, gave slight nods in response.
However, none of these three transcendent creatures noticed Bai Qi’s disappointed look.
“Mkoado? Isn’t it supposed to be the Cowskin Snake?”
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
Bai Qi looked at the Bronze Giant Dragon, which although similar in appearance, had a completely different look and aura, and he sighed in disappointment.
He had thought he would finally have the chance to meet face to face with the Cowskin Snake and quietly inquire about the exact reasons for his recent experiences, but it turned out it still wasn’t the Cowskin Snake.
“Mkoado, where is your father? Why isn’t he here?”
The Sun Beetle sensed around but didn’t find the presence of the Cowskin Snake, so it immediately asked.
“Father has temporarily stepped out and specifically asked me to wait here for you all,” replied Mkoado after a pause, looking towards Bai Qi and the others, “Father insisted that if the two deities were to bring three humans over, I must immediately take them to the Red Dragon’s territory.”
“The Red Dragon? What has Nozdormu seen this time?”
The Sun Beetle and Anubis looked at each other, both seeing concern in the other’s eyes.
Nozdormu had long before scheduled their meeting, and with his character, he would never go back on his word.
The only possibility was that he had seen something unusual in the river of time.
“Did he say what he was going to do before he left?”
Anubis asked the Bronze Giant Dragon.
“Father didn’t go into details, but it must be something to do with the Guardian Wheel,” said Mkoado after another pause. “It’s better you go directly to the Red Dragon territory to ask Father. If we delay, there might be new developments.”
“Hmm.”
The Sun Beetle nodded, ready to depart with Bai Qi when a luminous, colorful portal suddenly appeared in the sky, and a massive Elemental Creature that encompassed all attributes stepped out from behind it.
“Elemental Spirit, why have you come as well?”
The Sun Beetle looked at the Elemental Spirit, somewhat surprised.
“Nozdormu invited me here, but it seems now that we have all been played,” replied the Elemental Spirit, clearly annoyed and about to vent to the Sun Beetle when it suddenly noticed Bai Qi on the beetle’s back, sparking its curiosity.
“What species are these three creatures? I’ve never seen them before. And this one, why does he have an aura that I’m very familiar with?”
The Elemental Spirit moved closer to Bai Qi, wanting to grab him for a closer look, but the Sun Beetle apparently didn’t have the time to explain to the Elemental Spirit and flew straight for the Red Dragon territory.
“We’ll talk in detail when we get there; we must hurry to find Nozdormu now, as I suspect new changes have arisen.”
Hearing the words of the Sun Beetle, the Elemental Spirit could only put Bai Qi aside for the time being and follow the Sun Beetle forward.
Because of the speed of the Sun Beetle, after flying for a while, Anubis and the Elemental Spirit both settled on the beetle’s back, one on each side, sandwiching Bai Qi in between.
“The Sun Beetle, Anubis, the Elemental Spirit… How come they all seem to have gathered, the Mythical bloodlines that Husky and the others absorbed?”
Bai Qi cautiously observed the two Mythical Creatures by his side, which had reduced their size, feeling inexplicably nervous.
The bloodline of the Sun Beetle could be fooled, the bloodline of Anubis could be fooled, but now with the Elemental Spirit added, he feared that any further deception would lead to disastrous consequences.
“Little guy, what exactly are you? Your shape looks somewhat like a gorilla’s offspring, but aren’t you a bit short on hair?”
The Elemental Spirit, not fond of the quiet, initiated conversation shortly after.
“I’m sorry, but the gorilla you mentioned probably doesn’t have anything to do with me,” Bai Qi replied, forcing a smile on his face. “Gorilla? How would that be related to him? If they really needed to trace the lineage back, it would be to a monkey, no, a divine monkey!”
“Is that so? I thought you might be related,” said the Elemental Spirit with a hint of disappointment, then suddenly asked, “But how come you have the scent of the Element Rules on you? Hmm? And there are the Great Sun Rules, Space Rules, Time Rules… How could a being have so many rules?”
The more the Elemental Spirit looked, the more surprised it became, while Anubis was already accustomed to this strangeness.
“He must be the ‘human’ from Nozdormu’s prophecy. All will be clear once we see Nozdormu,” Anubis stated.
“Right, that guy always likes to hide things and never tells the whole truth until the very end,” remarked the Elemental Spirit with a shrug, turning to begin a conversation with Zhuge Chen and Bai Qiucha.
So Mythical Creatures can be overfamiliar too…
Bai Qi smacked his lips, once again revising his understanding of Mythical Creatures.
Having seen many myths and historical records, he always thought that Mythical Creatures were those who cared greatly about their image, even managing religions to gather the power of faith.
Now it seemed that these Mythical Creatures weren’t much different from other beings; they were just a bit more powerful.
Yeah, just a bit.
The Sun Beetle traveled quickly and before long, the group arrived above a vibrant red valley teeming with life.
This was the Red Dragon’s territory. No matter what type of creature approached, whether capable of flight or not, all would choose to land and go around.
This wasn’t just because the Red Dragon was one of the largest of the dragon tribes in the world, but mainly because no one wanted to offend a species that might one day save their life.
Yet today, the sky above Red Dragon Valley was crowded with several colossal beings.
The Life Guardian, Red Dragon.
The Earth Guardian, Black Dragon.
The Elemental Guardian, Blue Dragon.
The Nature Guardian, Green Dragon.
The Time Guardian, Bronze Dragon.
The first generation of the five Guardian Dragons, rarely seen together, unleashed their power without restraint, aiming at a five-colored disc at their center.
“The Guardian Wheel?!”
Bai Qi couldn’t help but exclaim upon seeing this, instantly drawing the attention of all the mythical creatures present.
“Do you recognize this thing?”
The Elemental Spirit curiously approached Bai Qi to inquire, while the Sun Beetle and Anubis wore expressions that seemed to say ‘I knew it.’
It wasn’t surprising that a creature personally admonished by Nozdormu would know about these things.
Perhaps, like Nozdormu, these three “humans” were also time travelers?
“You could say… I recognize it.”
Bai Qi looked at the Guardian Wheel before him, and the last bit of hope in his heart shattered.
Boom!!!
A massive shockwave suddenly erupted from the Guardian Wheel, but it was quickly suppressed by the five-colored Guardian Dragons and transformed into five gems embedded in it.
“It’s finally complete.”
The Red Dragon scrutinized the Guardian Wheel closely before asking after a while, “Nozdormu, can this truly defeat death?”
“It cannot.”
Nozdormu shook his head, and the other four dragons, including the mythical creatures like the Sun Beetle that had arrived late, were all taken aback.
“However, it can change the course of the future to the greatest extent, at least, we won’t end up with the worst outcome.”
Nozdormu beckoned lightly and took the Guardian Wheel into his hand to look at it, then approached Bai Qi.
“Bai Qi, I’ve finally met you. I didn’t expect you to actually make it.”
“Mhm.”
Bai Qi nodded slightly, looking at Nozdormu’s familiar yet foreign appearance, and understood the situation.
The Cowskin Snake was indeed the legendary founder of the Guardian Dragons, the Time Guardian, the Bronze Dragon, Nozdormu.
But it wasn’t the one before him.
Or to put it another way, he knew the Cowskin Snake that had traveled through countless times and met him in the future, not the current Bronze Giant Dragon who could see all of time but had not yet traveled to the future.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you when you needed me. Going against the current consumed too much of my future self’s strength, and I am unable to offer you much help.”
Nozdormu disregarded all the mythical creatures around and started to chat with Bai Qi.
“No need, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to meet so many characters that only exist in history, and Alpha and the others wouldn’t have received such an enhancement,” Bai Qi replied, shaking his head and managing a slight smile. “But I want to know, are you… still alive?”
Upon hearing Bai Qi’s question, Nozdormu fell silent before responding after a long while, “I live eternally within time.”
“Understood.”
Bai Qi sighed and did not press further, while a hint of sorrow involuntarily flashed in Zhuge Chen and Bai Qiucha’s eyes.
“I’m not quite sure what you two are talking about, but Nozdormu, perhaps you should explain to me first,” the Sun Beetle interrupted their conversation, and the other Guardian Dragons and mythical creatures also gathered around, staring intently at Nozdormu.
After thousands of years of acquaintance, they held absolute trust in Nozdormu. Especially the five-colored Guardian Dragons, who, upon only a rough understanding of Nozdormu’s thoughts, spent their Origin Power to forge this Guardian Wheel.
But it seemed to them that, according to Nozdormu, it was still futile?
“You will soon be aware of the specifics, but for now, we need to quickly restore our Origin, or else we might die in the upcoming great battle.”
“We don’t have much time left.”
Nozdormu released the Guardian Wheel, which slowly descended to the ground, and then summoned the river of time to begin restoring his power with all his might.
“Nozdormu, what exactly are you trying to do?”
The Elemental Spirit, growing impatient, intended to step forward and demand an explanation but suddenly sensed something and abruptly looked up at the sky.
In the distant horizon, an elongated black line had appeared out of nowhere, rapidly spreading and gradually eclipsing the once azure sky.
“Death… Nozdormu, are you trying to kill us? Choosing this time to have us forge the Guardian Wheel?!”
The hot-tempered Black Dragon couldn’t help but curse in anger but still returned to the Earth, striving to recover his strength.
“I’ve said, we don’t have much time, and now…”
“Is the only, no, the last chance.”
