Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 100: Suspicious Email
Chapter 100: Suspicious Email
At Solhaven City.
When Abigail arrived home, she checked her cell phone to see if Sawyer had contacted her. Finding no missed calls and only a few brief messages, she decided not to make a video call immediately. First, she needed to wash up and get something to eat.
Abigail believed that if she called him now, Sawyer would sense something was wrong. She didn’t want to make him worry when he was a thousand miles away. She intended to tell Sawyer about Kian’s odd behavior when he returned to the country.
She placed her cell phone on the table and undressed as she walked to the bathroom.
Cupping her face with both hands, she looked at herself in the mirror.
Seeing her exhausted reflection, she was happy with her decision not to call him now.
"Gosh, girl! You look so unpretty. Your boyfriend might be disappointed if he saw you like this..." she laughed softly to herself as she stepped into the shower.
She needed a cold shower to calm the worry and anger that were starting to fill her mind again as she remembered what had happened in the café.
Abigail stands under the cold shower, trying to distract herself from what happened earlier at the café. She closes her eyes and imagines Sawyer’s hand caressing her skin.
A few seconds later, she feels her body heat rise, and her heartbeat begins to race. Instantly, her eyes fly open wide.
"Oh my lord, Abby! Stop it... Why are you imagining Sawyer here with you?" she scolds herself. She can’t believe how cold she has such sultry thoughts.
The cold water cascades over her, but it does little to cool her down. Instead, she feels her blood boiling. She didn’t know why, but since meeting Sawyer, her love and passion for Sawyer felt so different from her previous relationship with Ryland.
This time, Abigail felt she couldn’t resist meeting him. Not seeing him for a few hours had unsettled her heart, and she wanted to video-call him immediately.
But first, she needed to eat something; otherwise, she might forget dinner again.
Abigail quickly prepared a simple meal. While enjoying her dinner, she opened her laptop to check her email, hoping that Andy Bennet or his secretary had sent her something he needed to design his house—he had mentioned it earlier that day.
However, instead of receiving an email from Andy Bennet, Abigail was stunned to see a message from an unfamiliar address with an intriguing subject that was hard to ignore.
"Abigail, This is One of Your Mother’s Inheritances"
She sighed deeply, knowing it was her father again.
"Adam Snow? Why are you still shamelessly bothering me after I said I didn’t want to talk to you anymore? And you still tried hard to get my attention. What a shameless old man!" Abigail couldn’t help but express her annoyance. She immediately set aside her empty plate before opening the email.
Instantly, Abigail felt goosebumps when she noticed a photo attached to the email. She quickly skimmed over her father’s message.
It didn’t take long for a dark cloud of confusion to fill her mind. She couldn’t think clearly after seeing a land ownership certificate with her name listed as the owner.
"Mom, you bought land in my name? Why didn’t I know about this? Is this certificate even real?!"
Abigail wanted to check the certificate but couldn’t; Adam Snow had only sent her a copy of the certification with her name on it without any other info she could read.
"This must be fake!" Abigail muttered to herself.
She wanted to ignore the email, but her heart insisted she shouldn’t. If the property truly belonged to her, she needed to reclaim it.
However, she was wary of falling into her greedy father’s trap. Whatever his motives for telling her this, she wouldn’t take the bait.
After pondering for a moment, Abigail’s mind began to clear. She picked up her cell phone and searched for her Grandma’s name but paused when she checked the time.
’Grandma must be asleep at this hour, right?’ Abigail thought to herself.
For a few more seconds, she only saw her Grandma’s phone number without making a phone call. Not wanting to wake her, she decided to send a text instead, just to check if her Grandma was available for a call.
Just before Abigail wanted to put her cell phone, the phone rang, filling Abigail with both happiness and worry. It was almost ten at night, and her grandmother was still awake.
"Grandma, did I wake you up?" Abigail asked worriedly.
"No, dear. I’m just about to sleep, but your text came in. What is it, Abby!?" Sophie Lewis’s concerned voice came through the phone.
"This is almost ten, Grandma. Why are you still awake?"
"Oh dear, Abby. I always go to bed around this time. After dinner, the older folks here usually watch a movie or do some activities, and we typically head back to our rooms by nine," Sophie said with a hint of amusement. "I already told you about this. Oh my, little Abby has forgotten!"
Hearing her grandmother tease her lifted Abigail’s moods. "I remember, Grandma. I’m just worried because you’re still recovering," she replied.
"Oh dear, even though I can’t walk properly, I can still get around in a wheelchair. Besides, I need some entertainment, too, right?"
Abigail couldn’t help but laugh. She felt relieved that her Grandma was enjoying her daily life, and she no longer pressured her to leave the nursing home. What mattered most to her now was that her Grandma was happy with all her friends there.
"Alright, I won’t keep you for too long, Grandma. But before I hang up, I want to ask you something about my mother." Abigail then explained the email she received from her father regarding a land certificate under her name.
She was now doubtful of her father because she had never heard of her mother earning enough money her entire life, let alone owning any property. Yet, he showed her a land certificate issued in her name.
Sophie was surprised to hear that.
