Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 105: Celebrating Two Things
Chapter 105: Celebrating Two Things
Abigail tried to understand the situation. Why had the homeowner decided to celebrate something so early in the morning, and how generous was he to share breakfast with her?
"Would you mind if I placed and arranged this breakfast inside for you, Miss?" Paul very politely asked again, realizing that she looked confused.
Despite her confusion, Abigail quickly took the box from Paul’s hand. She didn’t want him to enter her house, fearing her boyfriend might get jealous.
"Thank you, Paul. It’s alright. Having you bring breakfast here is more than enough. Please send my thanks and regards to your master...on your way down," she said, waving awkwardly and subtly signaling Paul to leave the rooftop.
...
Abigail enjoyed the breakfast her homeowner had sent her while exchanging text messages with Sawyer. She decided not to call him because she knew he was busy taking care of his mother in the hospital.
"Good morning, Sawyer! OMG! You won’t believe what just happened here!"
Abigail sent the text message immediately, eager to know his reaction.
A few moments later, Sawyer replied.
"Good morning, my beautiful Abby! What happened? Did something good happen there!?"
Abigail giggled when she saw him add a smile emoji.
She quickly texted him back, telling him about her kind homeowner who had brought her breakfast and how happy she was not having to make it herself.
"Wow! Your homeowner is extremely nice. But, Abby, why do I feel suspicious? Am I crazy if I think your homeowner has a crush on you?"
Abigail’s smile slowly faded as she read Sawyer’s message. The thought had never crossed her mind, but after reflecting on his words, she realized there might be some truth about it.
She remembered that her homeowner had not charged her anything to stay there for a year, and now he was also sending her breakfast. This is indeed suspicious.
Abigail wondered, ’Did the homeowner like me? Seriously?! No way! We’ve never met before. He can’t have a crush on me, right? That’s impossible,’ She dismissed the thought quickly as she returned to her bedroom.
Once inside her room, Abigail rested on her soft bed and typed a reply to Sawyer.
"That’s impossible. I’ve never met the guy before. Besides, I suspect the owner of this house is an old man. Maybe a bit senile. You don’t have to worry, Sawyer. Trust me, I won’t be interested in people much older than me. Hahaha."
After sending the text, she was about to put her phone on the nightstand when his reply made her laugh.
"Oh, Abby, my dearest, did you forget something? Your future hubby is much older than you. I’m ten years older than you!"
She tossed her cell phone onto the bed and chuckled at his response.
This wasn’t the first time Sawyer had mentioned their age difference. He was concerned that he would age faster than her, so he didn’t want to date for too long. Instead, he wanted to marry her soon to spend more time together.
Whenever Sawyer brought up the topic, Abigail could only cheer him up and always distract him from the conversation.
"Relax, Mr. Jones. You don’t look like a thirty-five-year-old man. Not to me. In my eyes, you are more like twenty-nine. Why don’t you ever believe me? You look much younger than your age. Trust me!"
Abigail stared at her cell phone, patiently waiting for Sawyer’s reply. It didn’t take long for his response to come in finally.
"Phew! I’m glad to hear that, Abby. I love you deeper than the deepest ocean. You know that, right?"
"I know!" She replies.
Sawyer’s short message appeared again, "Once I return, I’ll take you to the courthouse to marry you. How about that, Abby!?"
Abigail felt her face warm as she read his message. This man never failed to make her smile, even though they were thousands of miles apart.
Abigail ignored Sawyer’s question, not wanting to fall into his sweet trap again.
Instead, she told him about her schedule for the day. She was grateful that Milan replied to her message this morning and agreed to meet. They planned to meet for lunch so she could discuss the possibility of Milan working at her future company.
With plenty of time before the meeting and no messages from Sawyer, Abigail opened her laptop and sat at the corner desk.
She envisioned Oracle Street as the location for her future office because it was close to her house. However, just looking at the rental prices made her head spin.
"Heavens! Are property owners in this area trying to rip off small business owners like me? How can they charge so much for such small spaces?!" Abigail muttered while continuing to search.
After searching for a more affordable place and finding none, Abigail closed her laptop again. She walked to the kitchen to make some coffee.
***
Abigail arranged a meeting with Milan at the same Japanese restaurant where she had met Andy Bennet the day before. She also reserved a VIP room for a private conversation that would last a few hours.
Having just finished ordering food for both of them, Abigail was interrupted by a knock at the door.
"Come in!" she said softly, her eyes fixed on the door.
"Heaven, Abigail... I was surprised when I stepped into this luxurious restaurant. Is it really okay for you to treat me here?" Milan asked, stepping inside and closing the door behind her.
Milan knew of Abigail’s situation after her breakup with Ryland and her departure from the company. She had been struggling financially, especially since she was responsible for her grandmother’s nursing home expenses.
When Abigail heard Milan’s question, she smiled slightly before standing from her seat and greeted Milan with a warm hug. Then she asked her to settle beside her.
"Don’t worry, Milan. Dining here won’t empty my bank account. Besides, I want to celebrate two things with you..." Abigail smiled when she saw Milan looking at her with a curious gaze.
