Betrayed by Husband, Divorced when Pregnant-Chapter 167 Rain, Rain
Chapter 167: Chapter 167 Rain, Rain
Kelly’s POV
I held my breath as I entered Anderson’s mansion. Snow immediately greeted me with a kiss and hug and I did the same. She’s going home with me tonight because she called me yesterday using her father’s phone and told me she misses me.
I still can’t remember how shocked I was yesterday when I received a text message from Pierce.
“Let his ass go crazy looking for me.” Emily said while lying on the long couch and eating an apple.
I was cooking our dinner when she came home looking so happy and satisfied. I don’t know what happened, but I realized it’s because of Klay. News about Klay’s syndicate organization was exposed to the authorities and some members were already arrested.
Emily was obviously involved but I don’t think it all just because of her. I remember what Klay said to me in the fast food restaurant. He told me he needs to do something before he surrenders to the police. I think he’s trying to bring down his own organization and I know it involves a lot of powerful people.
I turned the stove off and sat on the single couch beside the long couch. I saw an unread message on my phone and my heart skipped a beat after seeing Pierce’s name on the screen. Distracted, I glanced at Emily before opening the message and I choked with my own saliva when I read the message.
‘I miss you...’
My heart started hammering inside my chest and I became even more distracted. Emily noticed it and stole my phone worriedly, but when she read the message, she shot her brow up and smirked at me.
“What is this behavior?”
My cheeks flushed and I didn’t know how to answer her. Pierce and I are not on good terms so I don’t know why he sent that message. Is he...drunk or?
Emily suddenly scoffed and shook her head as she handed me back my phone. “Stop daydreaming, Kelly. It’s not from your loverboy.”
“Huh?” I accepted the phone and saw a new message.
My lips parted and I blinked multiple times, trying to redeem my embarrassment when I realized that Emily’s right. The message wasn’t from Pierce
‘I miss you, mommy...’
I cleared my throat and pressed my lips together.
“Mommy, I messaged you using daddy’s cellphone.”
Embarrassment washed over me as I spotted Pierce walking down the stairs carrying Snow’s small bag. The pink colored and Barbie printed bag doesn’t suit the aura surrounding him. His presence was too strong and dark and his slightly wet hair makes him more attractive.
“Mommy, why did you not reply to me?”
I bit my bottom lip and glanced at Snow before I bore my eyes at Pierce again. I don’t know but I want to stare at his face.
“Mommy, don’t stare at daddy. Talk to me.”
Snow’s much higher voice and palms on my cheek woke me up.
I bore my eyes at her and smiled nervously. My heart skipped a beat when Pierce’s gaze landed on me.
“Let’s go, pumpkin. Do you wanna go to the park first?”
Snow’s eyes twinkled. “Yes! Daddy, we’re going to the park. Come with us.”
I looked at Pierce as he started walking towards us. I was so confident that he’d decline because I know he’s angry at me but I was shocked when he carried Snow and smiled at her as he answered... “Of course, princess. Daddy would love to go to the mall with princess.”
Snow clapped her hands as she looked at me. “Mommy?”
Their gazes were on me and I was pressured to nod even when I’m not really sure if I want him to come with us. I won’t be able to act freely because I would think of him and that would be so awkward.
I flinched when Pierce’s eyes dropped on me.
“I’ll drive you home.”
I tilted my head, hesitant. “I...brought my car.”
He nodded. “Give me the key. I’ll drive it.”
I stared at him. “What about later? When you’re going home?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “I’ll ask someone to get my car or I’ll just take a cab.”
“Why don’t you sleep with us, daddy?”
We both turned to Snow. I can feel it. She’s still pairing me up with her daddy.
“Daddy can’t stay with you tonight, princess. But soon, we’ll live in the same house.”
Snow gasped excitedly. “Really? With mommy?”
Pierce smiled and kissed her cheek. I bit my bottom lip while watching them. It didn’t take long until we decided to leave but before that, I went greet Mrs. Anderson who’s watching us with softness in her eyes. I was so engrossed by my daughter and her father that I forgot to greet her.
“Take care, Kelly. I hope you can spend time with us soon.”
I smiled at her and nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
She nodded and kissed my cheek again before I followed Pierce and Snow to the garage. Mrs. Anderson sent me to the door and watched us as Pierce opened the door of the passenger seat for me.
I was actually shocked because I thought he’d want Snow on the passenger, but it’s safer for her this way, so I believe that’s the reason.
“Which park?”
I looked at him as I locked my seatbelt. “Uh... The Greens.”
He nodded and started the engine. Snow started singing at the back and I can’t help but to sing along with her. She was enjoying it and I was too. We reached the park and stayed there for almost two hours when it suddenly started raining. Emily’s condo unit, where I’m staying, is closer, so we went there. It’s still awkward but I invited Pierce in.
“Rain rain go away...” Snow sang sleepily until she completely fell asleep. Pierce carried her to the bedroom and went back to the living area where I was waiting.
The rain hasn’t stopped and I think it won’t stop tonight. I failed to check the weather but there was a warning about a sudden heavy rain tonight.
“I’m going.”
I immediately pulled myself up. “Stay for tonight.”
I saw him stiffen as I stared at his back. I pressed my lips together and cleared my throat. “Emily’s not going home tonight. You can...sleep with Snow and I’ll sleep in Emily’s room.”
I was expecting him to decline, but when he slowly faced me, I felt my breathing hitch. He stared at me darkly as he clenched his jaws. “On second thought...I think I’m gonna stay. You have a lot of explaining to do, my ex-wife.”
