Betrayed By My Mate, Claimed By His Lycan King Uncle-Chapter 32: That Heartless Monster!
Chapter 32 - That Heartless Monster!
Sorayah swallowed hard, her heart pounding violently against her ribs as her gaze landed on the corpse's hand. A bracelet encircled the wrist, one that looked eerily familiar.
Her breath caught in her throat.
No... it couldn't be.
"It's... it's Lily," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Without thinking, she rushed forward, collapsing to her knees beside the lifeless body. The terrible stench of decay burned her nostrils, but she no longer cared. Tears blurred her vision as her trembling hands reached out, fingers brushing against the cold, stiff skin.
The gathered servants gasped, their faces a mixture of shock and horror. Some turned away, unable to bear the sight.
Liam stood a few feet away, his expression unreadable at first. Then his eyes narrowed, and his lips curled with impatience.
"What are you talking about?" he demanded, his voice edged with irritation.
Sorayah clutched the corpse's hand in hers, ignoring the filth and the grotesque state of the body. "This bracelet," she whispered, her voice shaking. "It's Lily's. I gave it to her myself."
The guards exchanged uneasy glances, shifting uncomfortably. None of them dared to speak.
Liam's face darkened, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his gaze before his usual cold indifference returned. "Fine," he muttered. "But for now, let's get the body out of here before it causes any more commotion."
"No!"
Sorayah's scream rang through the courtyard, sharp and raw. The guards flinched, halting in their tracks as she shot up to her feet, placing herself protectively in front of the corpse. Her entire body trembled with anger, with grief.
"Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on her!" she spat, her voice cracking. "Who did this? Who killed her?!"
Liam exhaled sharply, his patience wearing thin. "How the hell are we supposed to know that?" he shot back, his tone filled with irritation. "You're just as confused as everyone else." He crossed his arms, glaring down at her. "Now step aside and let the guards take the body before you get punished for ruining the mansion's air with this spectacle."
Sorayah's head snapped toward him, her blood boiling. "What?!"
Her chest heaved as she took a shaky step forward, her gaze locking onto his with pure fury. "My sister dies here, and all you care about is the mansion's air?" she hissed. "She was murdered, and I need answers! You have to investigate this!"
Liam let out a scoff, his lips curling into a mocking smirk. "Investigate? Over the death of a mere maid?" He shook his head, as if the idea itself was ridiculous. "Have you forgotten where you are, human?" His voice dripped with condescension. "This is the werewolf capital, the heart of the Full Moon Pack. Human slaves are nothing but insects beneath our feet, crushed without a second thought. Their lives or deaths mean nothing to us." His gaze turned icy, his tone sharp as a blade. "You actually expect me to waste time investigating the death of some pathetic maid when there are far more important matters at hand? Such disrespect!"
Sorayah's body trembled with rage. Her fists clenched at her sides as fresh tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Lily wasn't just a maid!" she cried. "She was my sister! The only family I had left!" Her voice broke as the grief clawed at her chest, threatening to consume her.
She shook her head, blinking rapidly, as a horrifying realization struck her like a bolt of lightning.
A thought that sent a fresh wave of dread crashing over her.
Her breath hitched.
"The Beta Lord..." Her voice quivered. She turned toward Liam, her eyes wide with accusation. "Does he know about this?" Her hands balled into fists. "He's the one who killed her, isn't he? That heartless monster!"
SLAP!
The impact was brutal.
Sorayah gasped as pain exploded across her left cheek, sending her crashing to the ground. Her vision blurred from the force of the hit, and a ringing sound filled her ears.
Liam loomed over her, his expression murderous. "How dare you?" he snarled. "How dare you raise your voice at me and accuse His Highness of such a crime?" His canines lengthened slightly as his rage flared. "You seem to have forgotten your place, Sorayah." His tone was deadly, his eyes gleaming with warning. "Just because you're the Beta Lord's personal maid doesn't mean you're untouchable."
Sorayah clutched her throbbing cheek, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps. But she didn't look away. She met Liam's gaze head-on, her defiance burning brighter despite the tears streaming down her face.
Liam crouched, his face inches from hers. "I don't know why His Highness keeps you alive despite your constant disobedience," he sneered. "But let me make one thing clear..." He grabbed her chin roughly, forcing her to look at him. His fingers dug into her skin, his grip bruising. "I'm not as patient as he is." His voice dropped to a low, dangerous whisper. "And if you keep running that mouth of yours, I won't hesitate to slit your throat."
Sorayah's stomach twisted, but she refused to back down.
Liam released her with a sharp shove, standing to his full height. He brushed his hands together, as if ridding himself of filth. "And even if His Highness did kill your pathetic sister, she should consider it an honor," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. "To die at the hands of such a powerful figure is a privilege. She should be grateful."
Sorayah's breath shuddered as she stared up at him in disbelief.
Liam is just as ruthless as Dimitri. What does she expect though? He is Dimitri's right hand man anyways.

Her fingers dug into the ground beneath her, her nails scraping against the cold stone floor. The pain in her cheek, the ache in her chest, it all paled in comparison to the rage building inside her.
Liam turned his cold gaze back to the guards, his expression impassive.
"Now, take the corpse away from here," he ordered, his tone devoid of emotion. "Throw it into the wild. It's just a slave, after all. Let the animals feast on her flesh before she rots completely."
A cruel smirk tugged at his lips, as if the sight of Sorayah's despair amused him.
