Chapter 50 - 045 Where Did You Stay Last Night? (First Update)
Tong Airui heard footsteps and said without turning his head, "I'm going to lie down in your room for a while."
Yi Luowa paused for a moment, "My room isn't quiet!"
..." Tong Airui pursed his lips and headed straight to Yi Luowa's room. He didn't lie on her bed but went directly to the caregiver's room.
Yi Luowa followed him into the caregiver's room, "What's wrong with you? Are you in a bad mood?"
Tong Airui sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her without speaking.
Yi Luowa pouted, "Want me to help you take off your shoes?"
"What do you think?" Tong Airui frowned slightly. This girl—didn't she say she'd take care of her second uncle for a lifetime?
Yi Luowa sighed quietly to herself. She's a servant now! Put up with it!
Yi Luowa hobbled over with her slightly lame leg to get in front of Tong Airui.
Seeing her staring blankly at his shoes, Tong Airui said in a deep voice, "Help me put the pillow at the head of the bed."
Yi Luowa smiled, This one's doable!
Once Yi Luowa placed the pillow, Tong Airui kicked off his shoes and tentatively got onto the bed.
Seeing how much effort it took him to get on the bed, Yi Luowa lowered her head in embarrassment, "I really didn't mean to kick and hurt you that day."
Tong Airui glanced at her, "Do you know how to tuck someone in?"
Yi Luowa grinned and walked over, "That I know!"
"You seem capable of taking care of yourself, so why does it take me to tell you to do everything before you act?"
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and draped the blanket over him, "I'm just not used to it!"
"You better get used to it! There's still a long road ahead..."
"Huh?" Yi Luowa's eyes widened.
"The doctor said it'll take three to five months to recover."
Yi Luowa scoffed and shot him a disdainful look, "Why not just say you'll never recover in this lifetime!"
Tong Airui chuckled, "Then you've hit the jackpot!"
"Sounds like I've lost big time!" Yi Luowa rolled her eyes dramatically.
Tong Airui pointed to the opposite bed, "I don't feel like arguing with you. Sit down—I have something to tell you."
Yi Luowa shot him a glance and sat down by the bed, casually swinging her good leg, "Go ahead."
Tong Airui felt a twinge of irritation just looking at her, "Put your injured leg on the bed."
Yi Luowa slowly scooted onto the bed, "Even something like this, my master must control?"
"You walked around too much. Leave your leg hanging like that, it'll swell again!" Tong Airui turned his head away, "Don't overthink it. I just want you to heal faster so you can take better care of me."
"See, I knew you weren't so kind-hearted. Why even bother saying it out loud and making my recently warmed heart go cold all over again?" Yi Luowa grabbed a pillow, propped it under her elbow, and leaned against it. "Alright, spill it. Why're you so upset?"
Tong Airui was silent for a while before finally asking, "Do you hate my father?"
"I don't even know him, why would I hate him?" Yi Luowa blurted out, then froze. Tong Airui's father took down the Bai family, indirectly leading to the downfall of the Yi family! But then again, even if Long Che hadn't dealt with Bai Bowen, people like Xi Meichen and Bai Bowen would certainly have never let the Yi family off the hook either.
Tong Airui stared at her intensely, "If you do hate him, you can direct that hatred toward me instead."
Yi Luowa looked back and realized he wasn't joking. She pursed her lips and replied, "One of my greatest virtues is that I don't hold grudges. Besides, your dad didn't do anything wrong. If people bully you at home and you don't fight back, you'd just be an idiot!"
"You don't hold grudges?" Tong Airui let out a cold chuckle.
"Of course not! Just look at the damage you've done to me, and yet here I am chatting with you. That proves my heart is as wide as the ocean!" Yi Luowa smugly shook her head, but her overconfidence got the better of her. Her hand slipped, and her face fell with a "thunk" directly onto the pillow.
"Pfft~" Tong Airui couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"Damn it!" Yi Luowa propped herself back up in frustration.
"Add one more day!" Tong Airui strained to hold back his laughter and turned his head away.
"I wasn't cursing at you!" Yi Luowa angrily punched the pillow.
"Doesn't matter who—it counts as long as I hear it!"
"..." Beast! Jerk!
Tong Airui turned his head and glanced at her indifferently, "Tomorrow, come home with me. I have something to give you."
"What could you possibly have to give me?" Yi Luowa scoffed, remembering the earring she still hadn't returned to him. She hurriedly reached up, removed it, and handed it over, "Here, take it back."
Tong Airui glanced at it, "Keep it. You might need it again someday."
"No way. Wearing this lets you hear and see everything I do. Does privacy mean nothing to you?" Yi Luowa tossed the earring onto the bedside table.
"How do you want Xi Meichen and Bai Bowen to die?" Tong Airui asked, his gaze boring into her.
Yi Luowa looked at him suspiciously, "How they die—is that even up to me?"
"It is," Tong Airui answered firmly.
Yi Luowa propped her chin on her hand, thinking it over. "If it were up to me, I'd let them die in a car accident—because of the seventeen accidents they've already caused, which hurt not just my family but so many innocent people."
"Consider it done," Tong Airui nodded. "Now go find somewhere else to hang out for a while. I need to take care of someone here."
"First you tell me to get on the bed, and now you're telling me to get off? Who do you think you are? I'll go see my second uncle—don't bother calling me unless it's important!" Yi Luowa grumbled as she hobbled out of the room.
Tong Airui waited until she was out the door before picking up his phone.
Yi Luowa had just stepped out of the room when she saw Ai Ni storming over angrily.
"Sister..." So Tong the Beast's target was Ai Ni. Yi Luowa called out sympathetically.
Ai Ni managed a strained smile, "Good girl, go play for a bit."
"Okay," Yi Luowa agreed softly before taking a step and then stopping. "Sister, if he's rough on you, just call me. I'll help you deal with him!"
"You wouldn't be able to help with this. Go on—your leg's still injured. Don't stand around too much." Ai Ni and the others had heard about everything from Yuan Hang, and they all felt deeply sympathetic about Yi Luowa's experiences. Watching her now, Ai Ni couldn't help but feel a sting of heartache.
Only after Yi Luowa left did Ai Ni push open the door to the room. Once she confirmed no one was in sight, she quickly entered the caregiver's room.
Tong Airui stared at her coldly and asked in a deep voice, "Where did you stay last night?"
