Chapter 80 - 075: Pursue a Girl with Proper Restraint (Part 1)
"Funny, isn't it?" Tong Airui lowered his gaze and asked Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa held back her laughter and nodded.
Tong Airui pursed his lips tightly, stared at her for a good while, and then said in a deep voice, "One of these days, you lot are going to drive me to an early grave. Not a single one of you knows how to stay out of trouble!"
Mai Zekai acted as if he hadn't heard a word, focused on removing the stitches.
Yi Luowa looked around innocently, glancing here and there, deliberately avoiding Tong Airui's eyes.
Seeing her darting glances, Tong Airui felt his anger dissipate all at once.
After tidying up the wound, Mai Zekai said slowly, "Don't let it get wet for the next few days, limit your physical activity as much as you can, and apply the ointment three times a day."
"Thank you, Dr. Mai." Yi Luowa smiled sweetly at Mai Zekai. "Why don't you help my master check his injuries? I'm going to rest now."
"Hold on a second." Tong Airui grabbed her arm as she was about to leave. "Did your Second Uncle get any results yet?"
"Not yet. He said he's got a conference call later tonight." Yi Luowa pulled his hand away. "Mind your manners! Stop grabbing at me."
Mai Zekai, who was standing nearby, chuckled. "Don't bother pretending around me. Ever since my Fourth Brother asked me to give my all to save you, I've known there's definitely something between the two of you. Oh, and make sure to apply the ointment to your neck tonight. You won't need a scarf tomorrow."
Yi Luowa froze, then quickly tugged at the scarf around her neck. Puffing up her cheeks in frustration, she glared at Mai Zekai and shouted, "Why are you looking at my neck for no reason?"
"Exactly! Why are you staring at my wife's neck?" Tong Airui kicked Mai Zekai.
Mai Zekai looked at him disdainfully and slowly brushed off his pant leg.
Yi Luowa tilted her head and looked at Tong Airui with mock menace. "Who's your wife? Don't go claiming ties that don't exist. If you ruin my chance at marriage, we're not done!"
"I'll settle your lifelong happiness for you. That's a bonus package!" Tong Airui chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Go lie down for a bit. I'll call you when it's time to eat."
Yi Luowa tugged his hand away, pouting as she said, "Don't bother calling me. I'm having dinner with my Second Uncle tonight."
"Have you forgotten your identity?" Tong Airui raised an eyebrow slightly.
Mai Zekai glanced at him and lifted his shirt hem.
In the brief moment Tong Airui was stunned, Yi Luowa took the opportunity to turn and leave the treatment room.
Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Old Seven, my sentence wasn't finished yet! Why are you pulling up my shirt?"
"Pursuing a girl is all about balance—you need to give and take. If you pull the string too tight, it will snap!" Mai Zekai glanced at Tong Airui's waist. "I knew Yuan Hang was bluffing, but you still need to be careful. It's too hot outside—don't go wandering around. If you keep wearing the support belt for another day, Yuan Hang's scare tactics might come true."
Tong Airui looked at him suspiciously. "You've pursued a girl before?"
Mai Zekai adjusted his glasses and slowly shook his head.
"Then how do you know about giving and taking?"
"Haven't eaten pork, but I've seen pigs run! Stop acting so clueless. You're exactly the type to scare off the girl with your antics."
"So experienced, yet why haven't you brought anyone home yet?" Tong Airui scoffed at him. "With your personality, my son will be running around the place before your wife even shows up! Just look at yourself—you've driven Aunt Xixi to the brink of despair!"
"Old Third isn't settled yet. Why should I be in a rush?" Mai Zekai pouted.
Tong Airui gave him a disappointed glare. "You're comparing yourself to Old Third? He's not actively searching, but if he were, there'd be no shortage of people trying to throw themselves at him! The number of people wanting to climb into his bed could form an entire battalion!"
Mai Zekai glanced at Tong Airui with deliberate slowness. "Whereas the number of people trying to climb into your bed might form an entire division?"
"Which eye of yours saw that?" Tong Airui nervously glanced at the doorway. If the little girl overheard this, she'd flee even faster.
"Don't need eyes for that. You could figure it out with your knees!" Mai Zekai chuckled. "Anyway, I'm still young. I'm not in a rush. I'll wait until you all settle down first, and then I'll find someone."
Tong Airui burst into laughter. "Slowpoke, if I recall correctly, aren't you only a few hours younger than the three of us siblings?"
"Born even just one second later, I'm still younger." Mai Zekai grunted defiantly. "Get Foolish Xuan back here already. You can't go without anyone by your side."
"Are you implying you're not a person, or Yuan Hang isn't? Besides, everyone inside and outside this hospital works for me. Why do I need Foolish Xuan here? Let him train well at the camp—it'll benefit him for the future." As Tong Airui spoke, he turned and walked out the door.
Mai Zekai followed him out. "You need to keep a family member close! If I get super busy, I might not see you for ten-plus hours. I won't feel at ease."
"I'll be fine."
"That's Sister's order!"
"Aunt and Uncle are back. Sis won't be in the hospital for the next few days."
"Well, when Sis does come, you explain yourself to her!"
"Got it..."
"Dr. Mai, the emergency department just called. They need you immediately," a nurse said, walking over quickly before Tong Airui could finish his sentence.
"I'll be there right away." Mai Zekai glanced at Tong Airui. "Go back and rest. Take it easy!"
Tong Airui gave him a nod. "Don't worry about me. Go ahead."
Mai Zekai gave him one last look before hurriedly walking toward the elevator.
Once Mai Zekai had stepped into the elevator, Yuan Hang chuckled and remarked, "Slowpoke isn't very slow today."
"When it comes to saving lives, he doesn't mess around. He was born to be a doctor." Tong Airui grinned and returned to his hospital room.
