Chapter 48: Tease

After a brief shock, He Yan seems to be so energized by Xing Ren’s words that his eyes light up and he immediately grins like a happy puppy in front of him.

"Call brother!" He Yan shamelessly demands which made him speechless.

Call brother? Which eyes made them think that someone like him can call brother casually?! What is appropriate?! What 3 years older than him? What youngest?!

Qin An, who’s actually more than thousands older than them, grips his vest tightly for fear of confessing his real age to shut them up.

Qin An looked at everyone who’s eyes lit up like flashlights at night.

Qin An: "..." They are also thinking that he’ll bark at them, right?

"Pfft!" The silent atmosphere broke and Xing Ren laughed loudly. "Hahaha! An, I didn’t think you’re so cute until today!"

Others also snicker at him while He Yan didn’t. But even so, looking at his bright eyes, Qin An would rather see him laugh at him. This kid is clearly waiting at him to bark!

Qin An was about to turn away in disgust but He Yan quickly grabbed him.

"Did Shen Lou ever have a pet?"

Everyone looked surprised at what he said. What kind of question is that?! Qin An knew they thought his question was weird but he just looked at He Yan faintly.

Although He Yan was suspicious, he still answered seriously upon seeing his eyes. "Well, yes."

He raised his brow. "What about it?"

"Brother Lou once had a cat when he was a kid. That cat is a black maine coon and it was really big. Its name is Black. I remember he used to be with it wherever he goes. Even when we went out for an outing, Brother Lou always brought his cat." He Yan chatted but sigh regrettably. "It’s a pity that Black was sick. I couldn’t remember what happened anymore but it was too late to bring him to the vet hospital. Therefore, we failed to save him."

Qin An pause. "It’s dead?"

He Yan nodded sadly. "Well, it’s been 18 years. After that, Brother Lou never had a pet anymore."

Qin An was silent. 18 years? That cat died for too long yet its soul is still here? In the past, that time was enough for a soul to naturally dissipate. But after all, Qin An saw resentment on its body so it cannot leave. Something must have happened but according to He Yan, was the cause of his cat’s death was sickness?

"What kind of disease?" He asks again.

"I don’t exactly remember but Black’s immunity was getting lower and lower. His body grew weaker and he couldn’t even drink properly. Unfortunately, because Brother Shen was not allowed to bring cats into the house because his sister was allergic, we couldn’t ask for help. We were too young too." He Yan answered with a tone of regret in his voice.

If Shen Lou couldn’t bring the cat into the house, does that mean he cannot monitor the cat, right? No one will know what truly happens because the cat lives outside.

But Shen Lou clearly cares for the cat or else the cat won’t stay for such a long time.

Guarding Shen Lou for almost two decades, he really admired animal loyalty more than humans.

Qin An is thinking. That cat died when Shen Lou was young so he was exposed to resentment in his younger years. Qin An thinks that time was very crucial for Shen Lou’s future changes.

What happened to his cat must have resulted in something. However, Qin An couldn’t think about anything. He’s not familiar with this world thus he couldn’t come up with possible results.

If it was on Blue Star, a person who has been entangled with souls with resentment will gradually become someone who’ll be easily tempted to do evil. They will likely be more irrational and do things beyond their control and gradually develop illness for no particular reasons.

Their luck will also worsen which results in unfortunate things that make them lose their minds quickly.

These resentment are like demons around so as grim reapers, they are the one who’s capable of helping humans. They live to give balance.

If this happened in the past and he was still a reaper, it’s easy to solve because of his spiritual energy. The cat’s resentment is also light and it didn’t grow, that’s why it stayed sane and didn’t attack Shen Lou or others even if it died with injustice. Just a casual move from it, it’ll be resolved right away.
