Blood Nemesis-Chapter 133: Ex plo sion
Chapter 133: Ex plo sion
By the time the elder and Lin Yue appeared beside him, Oliver was fighting a desperate battle.
To avoid being eaten alive, he moved around the dragon’s body, latching onto it with his golden tentacles. Fortunately, with the help of his armor, he could precisely control and mould the golden mana to any shape and size he desired, allowing him to sling around the dragon’s mouth, barely avoiding its snapping jaws by a hair’s breadth.
However, even with all his efforts, his attacks barely damaged the ferocious beast. Its thick outer scales were like chainmail, deflecting every one of his strikes.
If he could use blood, Oliver might have employed other tactics, like suffocating the beast, covering its eyes, or even weighing it down to slow its movements. But this was not a situation where he could fight uninhibited; the watchful eyes of those he considered enemies were upon him.
So, he continued to distract the giant beast with the abilities bestowed by his golden armor. His body swayed and moved with precision, capitalizing on his impeccable spatial awareness. The tentacles became his arms and legs, helping him maneuver through the air.
When he made a mistake or when the dragon made unexpected moves to bite him, the light flickered on and off, helping him evade.
All in all, it was a battle of wits. The maddened flood dragon failed to grasp this, continuing its mindless attacks. Yet, Oliver could occasionally see its movements change as sparks of sanity returned to it.
He knew the dragon wouldn’t attack him mindlessly forever. When its sanity fully returned, it would either attempt a hidden attack to kill him or flee in fear to recover.
Oliver would have let it escape if he could, but the first option would spell disaster for him. If he died, his revival ability would be revealed. He didn’t want that.
That’s why he had asked the Lin clan to step in. Luckily, the Lin clan members were happy to comply; they desperately wanted the dragon’s core, giving them ample reason to fight.
As Oliver moved through the air, the dragon chased him. Oliver was like bait dangling in front of the dragon, always visible, always attached to its body, and always just a step away.
Lin Yue and the Earth Manipulator Elder appeared next to Oliver, floating silently. Oliver noticed them and led the dragon towards their position.
Immediately, a giant boulder formed before the elder. Oliver understood what he was attempting to do. Meanwhile, Lin Yue was focusing mana into a red crystal in her palm.
’I see,’ Oliver thought.
He manipulated the dragon to fly downwards. They were about 100 meters in the air, above the tree canopy. He had to make the dragon go near the ground.
As Oliver thought, the boulder grew larger. But the elder found it difficult to control its immense weight; his body dropped, forcing him to channel more mana to stabilize himself.
Lin Yue continued to focus, creating a small red crystal in her hand.
Without hesitation, a plan formed in Oliver’s mind, and he executed it.
He understood that Lin Yue was trying to repeat her attack, and the elder was attempting to pin down the dragon with a boulder. So, to make their lives easier, Oliver brought the dragon to the ground, using himself as bait.
When his golden glowing body plummeted to the ground, the dragon chased him with frenetic excitement. Its huge body curved like an upside-down ’U’ and followed him.
The elder noticed this change. He understood what Oliver was trying to do. Controlling the boulder was not easy, so the chance of it hitting a moving dragon was slim. But when gravity was added to the equation, the chances increased exponentially. The elder only had to guide the falling rock towards the dragon.
As Oliver forced the dragon to the ground, he positioned himself with the rock above them. Oliver twisted his tentacles into a thumbs-up signal. The elder nodded excitedly in the air. Both knew what they were going to do. With only visual cues and signals, they shared their ideas in the heat of battle.
Excited, Oliver guided the dragon into the trees. Once there, it became much harder for the dragon to move; its giant body became a weakness, slowing it down. Meanwhile, Oliver found it easier, as he had other objects around him to grasp with his tentacles.
In this way, he patiently lured the dragon to an open area on the ground. The trees were sparse, making it the best place to drop the boulder. Oliver signaled to the elder with a wave of his tentacles.
The elder gazed at Lin Yue. She nodded. A small, but mana-dense crystal had formed in her hand. Although it was weaker than the first one she had made, it still glowed bright red.
Oliver noticed this and jumped to the ground, running like a madman in a straight line, with the flying flood dragon chasing behind him. He was running in the direction of the elder and Lin Yue.
The straight motion allowed the elder to predict the dragon’s position. So, he positioned the ten-meter-wide boulder he had conjured directly above it. Then, taking a deep breath, he hurled it down.
His attempt to manipulate the rock, combined with gravity, propelled the boulder to the ground at a frightening speed. Due to its speed, air friction caused the front surface of the boulder to heat up, much like a meteor burning up in the atmosphere. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Oliver was not in a position to gaze at it and enjoy its beauty. Within three or four seconds, the boulder fell just behind him.
"THUMP!"
The thunderous sound of the huge boulder slamming against the ground echoed as splinters of trees, dirt, dust, and mud slammed against his body. When he turned around, he saw the dragon squirming beneath the boulder, half its body forced into the ground.
’It worked!’ they all thought simultaneously. Even Root, flying above in the boat, felt his blood boil with excitement.
However, they weren’t done yet. The dragon was still alive. Like a worm, it squirmed under the heavy boulder, trying to push its body out. Although it was a powerful attack, the dragon seemed to have resisted most of the damage.
’At the critical moment, it must have protected itself,’ Oliver considered. He looked at the ground. The boulder had made a small crater and dug into the soil below. From the tail end, half the body of the serpentine dragon was submerged within this crater.
If the dragon instinctively used mana to protect itself, it must have dug into the ground instead of being crushed under the boulder’s weight. The ground was softer than the boulder; it would have dissipated the force instead of crushing the dragon’s body to mush.
With the attack completed, Oliver noticed a glint of sanity return to the dragon. Although startled and wounded, it didn’t roar as before. Instead, it dug its tiny claws into the ground, trying to push its body forward. It was trying to escape.
Oliver realized they wouldn’t get any more chances. Without hesitation, he ran towards it. There was one last thing he could do. He had no idea if it would work, but it was a good bet. Before the dragon escaped, he had to act.
Like a glowing beam of light, his body moved towards the dragon, and he grabbed its mouth. The furious dragon looked into Oliver’s eyes, where he saw pure hate.
Instead of retreating, he channeled almost all the blood in his blood sac into a golden coin. Immediately, almost thirty thousand units of mana flooded his body. This time, the golden mana didn’t wreak havoc because of the armor; instead, it bent to his will.
Oliver channeled every last bit of it and used his tentacles to pry open the creature’s jaw. The weakened dragon found it difficult to stop him. Its mouth opened.
Then Oliver gazed up at Lin Yue. She understood what he was trying to convey. She flicked her arms and threw the red crystal into the dragon’s open mouth.
The task of opening the dragon’s mouth alone was difficult. Almost all his mana was used up, and the tentacles were about to disappear. But as a final move, he plunged one of the five tentacles he was using to push the red crystal deep into the dragon’s mouth, possibly into its stomach.
"Thud!"
Suddenly, Oliver felt the golden armor and the tentacles flicker and disappear. The wide-open mouth of the dragon closed with a thud, its razor-sharp teeth colliding against each other, expelling a horrendous breath. Oliver squinted and scrunched his nose while jumping away.
When he was a few meters away, he saw a red glow appear inside the dragon’s body, ballooning its visible underbelly. Then he heard the desperate cry of the dragon. From its mouth, burning red crystal and fire were expelled.
The flood dragon, with its affinity for water, momentarily became a fire-breathing one.
Then...
"BOOOOOM!"
The enlarged belly exploded.
