Chapter 127 - Miracle

Lin Jia was an ordinary survivor in City S’ safety zone. She is fifteen years old this year. Before the end of the world, she just graduated from junior high school.

Her father had awakened a fire ability. At the emergence of the apocalypse, the family was allocated a nice house that was close to the center of the city.

Life was good for the family at the beginning. Her father often went out of town and brought her and her mother plenty of food. When other’s couldn’t afford to eat meat, she still had chocolate as part of her snacks.

As the apocalypse advanced this slowly changed.

Her father wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about why. However, he began to talk about things related to the last days of the apocalypse. He told Lin Jia and her mother that the last days would occur after the descent of the God of Darkness on earth. He claimed that earth would be shrouded and overwhelmed into the void.

At the origin of the behavior, she refuted her father with a few playful words. She said there wasn’t any dark god in this world. But because of that, her father went into thunderous rage and slapped her with his own hands.

That was the first time she was beaten. It was only then that she realized her father had changed.

However, her father’s changes went unnoticed by the man himself. He went out with others often to kill zombies and finish tasks. At times he left them for days on end. Each time he would come back, his respect for the dark god grew a little more. Eventually Lin Jia’s mother began to believe in this God of Darkness.

But Lin Jia disliked the God of Darkness more and more. Her animosity began to grow. After living in the apocalypse for a while she wasn’t a materialistic person any longer. But unlike her parents she didn’t think that the God would be able to save her from becoming a zombie.

Perhaps it was just out of anger for her father, but she just refused to believe it! She just hated the Dark God!

Gradually, Lin Jia began diverging and was incompatible with those in her surroundings. Fortunately, despite her parents’ beliefs, they refused to hand over their daughter. Instead, they stayed by her and preached their beliefs to convert her.

Lin Jia agreed on the surface. But the disgust in her heart only grew.

On the other hand her parents became more and more zealous. They were afraid of the zombies outside. They didn’t want to be zombies. They didn’t want to be the food for zombies. All they wanted was to become god envoys or dark shadow guards.

“Although those dark shadow guards have no will of their own and are insensible, how good is it that their souls are by the side of the Dark God and their bodies are immortal?”

Lin Jia’s mother said so, shocking her immensely.

Lin Jia thought her mother went insane, but found out there were more than a handful that thought like her!

Many people in the apocalypse lived a painful life. They felt that they would die sooner or later. Even without the will to live on, they also don’t dare to kill themselves, so they consider becoming a dark shadow guard as a better option…

Her mother believed in this. Her father was more ambitious and wanted to become a god envoy.

The transformation process is dangerous so the number of envoys is still very small. Only those without family members and have powerful abilities are able to be chosen.

As a result, Lin Jia’s father actually began to dislike his wife and daughter, often cursing at them. It was fortunate that he didn’t kill them like some chose to.

Lin Jia remembered her father’s warmth and affection in the past. The change caused her heart to despair…but beyond her desperation, she could only admit to her own identity as a woman, a frail underage woman without powers. Even if she chooses to take over manual work everyday, she could only afford to feed herself until she’s only half full.

She still has to rely on her father to live, so how can she go against her father once more?

At first, Lin Jia didn’t want to come to today’s envoy handover ceremony, but her father insisted.

The ritual of cutting flesh caused her unbearable terror. She worried one day she would also suffer through the process as a nonbeliever. Since there was no way out, should she simply believe in the God of Darkness?

As she was pondering about converting, Lin Jia saw several helicopters come to the site.

The people were from the safe area of City B, along with some foreigners…seeing them, Lin Jia couldn’t help but pray silently. She hoped they would get rid of the cult.

However, the two parties did not fight like she expected. The newcomers instead sat down and began overseeing the ceremony.

Lin Jia was indescribably disappointed. She didn’t want to watch the meat cutting any longer and wanted to leave. At that moment, a dark-skinned youth stood up in the crowd.

Lin Jia knew that young man. Two days ago, this young man stopped her and asked her to point him in the direction of the inner city.

His bright eyes were pleasant to her. She then reminded him not to go past…

The boy seemed nondescript. However, when he stood up a white light appeared around him!

Lin Jia was relatively close to him. When she encountered those white rays of light, she felt it surround her. It gave her the comfort of a hot bath after a month of grime and dust collected over.

Lin Jia didn’t understand what was going on. However, she subconsciously began to develop a crush on him despite her father’s reaction. After the young man expressed his powers, her father chased after him in anger. He did it in the name of the saint– who proclaimed that the followers should do their part and kill the boy.

Lin Ji wanted to hold her father back. It was possible for her. In the end, she could only watch helplessly as he ran up the sides of the tall platform and huddled together with the dark shadow guards.

The situation terrified her. Soon, there was something else that frightened her even more– a bomb fell beside her father!

Lin Jia screamed in fear. She was worried her father was injured. But after a moment, her father walked back slowly. He was safe and sound.

“What is that white light?” Lin Jia heard her father ask this question. He was wounded by the blast, but it already healed.

“It’s light energy! It should be light energy that can purify dark energy!” Lin Jia immediately said this. She has read a lot of novels.

Lin Jia’s father fell into silence. The family of three looked to the high platform.

On the large platform, the envoys gradually lost their strength and momentum, and the dark shadow guards around the platform rose up to help once more… Father Lin’s face showed signs of worry. “The saint should be alright– right?”

As soon as his worry was expressed, a change occurred on the platform A thick black mist enveloped the entire platform. Fog rolled in.

“I should’ve stayed there…” Father Lin couldn’t help but say.

The people around them were already kneeling on the ground at this time. They chanted “miracle” with every ounce of their devotion.

They believed it to be a miracle of the Dark God to swallow their opposition. No matter how powerful the person with white light was, they believed he would die fruitlessly at the hands of their god.

The hope that Lin Jia carried faded away once more.

The dense black mist frightened her from the bottom of her heart. Her subconscious cried out in surrender before the God of Darkness.

But at this moment, another incident occurred!

A piece of white light rose from amidst the black mist. The mist that was once overwhelming in great power was washed away! The white light soared into the sky with a holy visage. It made the “miracle” of the dark god seem terrible in comparison.

They didn’t see the situation clearly until the fog was gone.

The dark shadow guards fell to the ground. The saint was injured. However, the assailants were well off…

“This is a miracle…” In the beginning, some said the black mist was a miracle. Now others believe that everything that occurred was a miracle…

After the words left the mouths of the people, the man…
