Chapter 531: +Chapter 531+

Silvia snagged up the sweetsmelling package of pastries and headed inside alone. Cain was welcome to join them but the Alpha preferred the solitude of his room.

She expected to find Angelo in his room so it took her a moment to notice that he was seated in the living room. She paused, a smile blooming on her face.

"Angelo, you came out of your room."

Angelo’s pale green eyes were fixed on the colorful bag in her hand. He hadn’t just come out because of the pastries she always got for him, but after Silvia left he got to thinking.

He didn’t have to outrightly ask, there were other ways of finding out information. "Did you have something important to discuss with Mafia King Asher?" He asked seriously but the tone didn’t match the impatient look he had on as he stared at the bag of pastries.

Silvia slowly walked over to hand it to him, she had bought them all for him after all. Her pleasant surprise over seeing Angelo in the living room was quickly washed away by his question, dread filling her up.

"Why?" She asked lightly, trying to divert the conversation. "Starting to think you should have tagged along?"

Angelo immediately rifled through the bag, taking out a pack of freshly baked milk cookies. "If there’s a next time. So what did you two discuss?" He doubled down, staring intently at Silvia.

Silvia had a difficult time keeping a smile on her face, sweat gathering at her nape. She had been a little disappointed when Angelo decided to play hermit but she was mostly relieved because it meant that keeping her massive secret was easier.

Right then, she was quickly regretting ever feeling bad when Angelo was too busy moping to do any prying. She knew he was studying her intently for anything that would rouse his suspicion.

"He invited me to dinner," Silvia lied, her mouth coming up with a bullshit reason before her brain could catch up. freeweɓnøvel.com

Angelo’s eyes widened in genuine surprise, completely caught off guard. He had just been trying to glean some information about Nikolai. "I didn’t know you two were that close." He mumbled, stuffing a milk cookie in his mouth.

Silvia closed her eyes slowly and opened them again, she was about to owe Asher so many favors. "Do you want to tag along?" She kept digging her grave.

Angelo seriously thought about it. If Silvia had asked him earlier that morning, he would have turned her down without hesitation but right then, he was ready to leave Silvia’s house.

He was scared of finding out more information, not sure he would like what he found but at the same time, he needed to know.

"Will that be fine?" He asked after a brief moment of contemplation.

Silvia swallowed down her panic, mentally cursing herself for putting her foot in her mouth. What happened to Angelo in the short time she was away? She had beeen expecting him to turn her down.

"Absolutely," She said even though she didn’t believe her words.

"Can I come with you to the company?" Angelo struck while the iron was hot.

Silvia’s expression turned worried, "I was just thinking of taking a break from work for a few weeks," She started scrambling for excuses.

Angelo frowned, Silvia never went on breaks in the years he knew her. "Are you coming down with somethng?"

Silvia knew better than to pad on more lies so she denied it, "I’m not... I just think it’s about time we both took a well deserved break, and seeing as you’re here, why not?"

Angelo deflated at Silvia’s words, reminded again of why he was here. "That’s nice," He muttered absently, rising to his feet with his barely eaten bag of pastries. "I’ll be in my room if you need me."

Silvia watched him leave with a troubled expression, reminded of what Cain had told her on the drive back home. She had to tell Angelo sooner or later, and with how haywire things were going, it was more likely to be sooner.

For now, she had to somehow find a way to convince Asher to invite her to dinner.

Lake woke up at mid-morning, looking up at the side profile of his mate to find him deep in thought. Usually, even though Davian was already awake, as soon as he woke up, his mate knew instantly.

"What has you so worried?" He asked after studying him for a few minutes, snuggling closer.

"How did you sleep?". Davian asked instead, relaxing at Lake’s presence.

"Fine, fine..." He answered impatiently, looking up at Davian. "What’s wrong?"

"The High Council made a move," Davian went right into it, there was no reason to stall. "Asher called me a few hours ago, they’re already making a mess on Nikolai’s turf..."

Lake was instantly alert, secretly pleased that he had gotten so much sleep in the past week. He sat up and demanded a detailed explanation, one that Davian was all too happy to give.

The details of the matter weren’t clear yet but a rough summary was enough to capture what was going on.

"I didn’t know that Nikolai had dealings with the High Council’s executioner." Lake mused.

Davian was also in the dark about that but he was sure they would figure everything out pretty soon.

Lake rose to his feet and stretched, a happy smile on his face. "We had better start packing up. Does Rosie know about this?"

Davian was disgruntled, Lake had taken the news much better than he had. "Rosie already moved into the mansion."

Lake’s expression brightened at that, he had been trying to convince his secretary to move in for a while now and Rosie hadn’t wanted to bother them.

"How about you make us a quick breakfast while I deal with our luggage?" Davian rose to his feet, pulling Lake in for a kiss.

The Omega melted into the kiss clinging to him, it made Davian pissed off all over again that their vacaton was coming to an abrupt end. He didn’t let Lake cook if he could help it, but right then, it was the only way to stop his mate from packing up their things with him.
