Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 299: Monkey King (3)
Chapter 299: Monkey King (3)
The clone’s playful demeanour vanished, replaced by a cold, focused intensity. He launched himself at Adrian with renewed fury, his staff moving with blinding speed. Adrian did his best to defend himself, but the clone’s attacks were too powerful and too fast for him to counter.
Blow after blow rained down on Adrian, each one driving him further back. The clone’s staff struck his ribs, his legs, and his arms, each impact cracking his bones and forcing the troll’s blood to work over the limit just to keep up. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Despite that, Adrian’s movements grew sluggish, his vision blurring as he struggled to keep up.
In a final, desperate move, Adrian lunged forward, aiming a stab at the clone’s heart. The clone easily sidestepped the attack, bringing his staff down hard on Adrian’s back. Adrian fell to the ground, his dagger slipping from his grasp.
The clone triumphantly stood over him and announced. "It’s over."
Adrian lay on the ground, gasping for breath, every part of him aching. But even as darkness closed in, he refused to give up. He would defeat this clone, no matter what it took.
Despite his body screaming to stop, Adrian forced himself back to his feet. Sun Wukong’s clone looked at him and was genuinely surprised. Although the mortal lacked strength, his tenacity was something else entirely.
The clone’s eyes narrowed, and his lips curled into a smirk. "You just don’t know when to quit, do you?"
Adrian just glared at Sun Wukong before turning his attention to the colosseum manager. "Do you not have a barrier to protect the spectators?"
"Y-Yes, we do. But we haven’t used it in a while-"
"Then raise the barrier or ask everyone to leave," Adrian cut him off, turning his attention back to the clone.
The manager clicked his tongue. Raising the barrier would cause him to spend some money. Although it was the last thing he wanted to do, the manager agreed to Adrian’s request. After all, the longer they fought, the more spectators he would get.
"Using the barrier is an investment... just an investment."
A moment later, the arena separated from the spectators’ stand. With the safety of the tower’s residents ensured Adrian could go all-out with no worries.
With a deep breath, Adrian focused on summoning the primal energy that lay dormant within him. A moment later, his body changed, muscles bulged and wounds healed rapidly.
Even his skin took on a faint, almost imperceptible glow, and his eyes glowed with a fierce, bestial light. There it was, Adrian’s secret move, [Beast Form].
The transformation was quick, and as Adrian stood up, he felt the pain recede, replaced by a surge of raw power. The clone, sensing the change, took a step back as his playful grin returned.
"Oh, now this is getting interesting," the clone said, twirling his staff with renewed enthusiasm for their fight. "Show me what you’ve got, beast boy."
Adrian didn’t waste any time indulging the clone. With a roar, he launched himself at the clone, moving faster and hitting harder than before. His first punch caught the clone off guard, sending him wobbling back.
He kept pressing to his advantage, following up with a flurry of blows that forced the clone to defend himself with his staff.
The sudden change in the fight left even the crowd shocked. It was like Adrian and Sun Wukong’s clone had changed their positions.
"This is more like it!" the clone exclaimed, a wild grin spreading across his face. "Let’s see how long you can keep it up!"
"..."
Adrian’s attacks were unrelenting. At one opportune moment, he kicked the staff out of the clone’s hands, then followed up with a powerful uppercut that sent the clone sprawling.
The crowd roared with excitement when Adrian landed his first hit on the clone. However, the excitement was short-lived. The clone quickly regained his footing, summoning his staff back to his hand with a flick of his wrist.
"Not bad, but I’m just getting started!"
Upon hearing those words, goosebumps appeared all over Adrian’s body. Something about the clone felt different to him. For the first time, Adrian felt the intensity in the clone’s eyes, which made him instinctively step back.
Adrian looked up once he put some space between them. Unfortunately, the poison from Adrian’s attack did not work on the clone. It was more or less expected.
Although he was facing a clone, it was a clone of a literal god. He expected the darn fucker to have immunity to status effects.
At that point, Adrian knew he had to end it quickly. He feinted left, then spun right, catching the clone off guard. With a powerful roar, he unleashed a devastating punch that connected with the clone’s jaw, sending him flying across the arena.
The clone crashed into the ground, dust and debris flying up around him. He lay still for a moment, then got to his feet, shaking his head to clear the debris.
"Impressive," he admitted, wiping a trickle of blood from his mouth. "It has been a while since someone made me bleed. Now I’m even more fired up!"
The fight escalated into a brutal exchange of raw strength. Neither one cared about techniques or grace. All they wanted was their opponent’s head.
Adrian’s fists moved with blinding speed, delivering a barrage of punches and kicks. The clone met him blow for blow, his staff blocking and striking Adrian simultaneously.
The arena shook with the impact of their strikes, each collision sending shockwaves through the ground. Adrian’s Beast form gave him the edge in power, allowing him to withstand the clone’s attacks and retaliate with crushing force.
But the clone’s thousands of years of fighting experience and his immense strength thwarted Adrian’s every move. The two combatants danced around each other, neither willing to back down.
With a roar, Adrian unleashed [Soul Devourer] and leapt at the clone, aiming to end their fight. The clone parried with his staff, but Adrian’s momentum was unstoppable.
He landed a crushing elbow to the clone’s ribs, followed by a swift uppercut that snapped the clone’s head back. The clone retaliated with a spinning strike from his staff, catching Adrian across the shoulder and sending him flying backwards.
The fight continued, with both of them pushing themselves to their limits. Adrian’s enhanced stamina from the [Beast Form] began to fade as he had used up most of the mana to sustain his form.
But he fought on, driven by sheer willpower. The clone, though enjoying the challenge, was also showed signs of fatigue. It was a strange feeling, something he hadn’t felt before. The excitement of everything fuelled the clone as he struck Adrian.
Adrian ducked under a horizontal strike from the clone’s staff and closed the distance, driving his knee into the clone’s midsection. The clone grunted in pain but responded with a fierce headbutt that sent Adrian staggering back.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the clone launched a rapid series of strikes, its staff mercilessly hitting Adrian repeatedly. Although he blocked as many as he could, the sheer speed and force of the attacks were overwhelming.
With a final, desperate burst of energy, Adrian lunged forward, grabbing the clone’s staff and twisting it out of his hands. The clone raised his hand, summoning the staff back, only for Adrian to intercept and block it. Now weaponless, the clone grinned wider.
"Fine, hand-to-hand combat it is," he said, and the two warriors clashed once more.
They grappled, exchanged punches, and unleashed their remaining strength in a brutal melee combat, much to the crowd’s enjoyment. Adrian’s [Beast form] totally faded away, and the clone was visibly exhausted. But neither was willing to give up.
The crowd watched in awe as the two titans battled on, each strike shaking the Colosseum with their raw power. Bloodied and battered, Adrian and the clone fought until their bodies could no longer keep up with their unbeatable spirits.
Finally, with one last powerful punch, Adrian struck the clone square in the chest. The clone stumbled back, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Adrian, too, was on the brink of collapse. His vision blurred and his body screamed in protest. This time, Adrian was completely exhausted and couldn’t even stand properly.
Both fighters stood for a moment, swaying on their feet, before simultaneously falling to the ground, totally spent. The arena fell silent as the dust settled around them, yet no one moved from their spot.
The manager rushed into the arena, shocked by the outcome.
"A draw," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "I never thought I’d see the day."
The crowd was stunned into silence for a moment before erupting into cheers and applause. They couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed. A mere mortal had fought toe-to-toe with a Sun Wukong’s clone and held his own. Sure, he didn’t win, but the feat he pulled was praiseworthy.
Adrian lay on the ground, staring up at the sky. His breath came in shallow gasps. He had given everything he had, and despite the gruelling battle, a sense of satisfaction washed over him.
Despite facing one of the toughest opponents imaginable, he did not allow himself to be defeated. In a twisted sense, he was happy. Sure he wouldn’t get the organ he desired. But honestly, the experience taught him more about the gap between him and the entities.
"Not bad, human," the clone, lying nearby, let out a chuckle. His voice was weak, but filled with genuine respect. "Not bad at all."
As the medics rushed in to tend to both fighters, the crowd continued to chant Adrian’s name. The once-bored spectators were now on their feet, praising the incredible display of strength and tenacity they had just witnessed. Adrian had proven himself in the eyes of many, and many would remember his name.
But that wasn’t all as he exited the arena. The floor admin appeared before him with a smile.
"Congratulations, player. You have achieved quite a feat there," he said, hovering before Adrian’s eyes. "Rewards are in order!"
A screen popped up in front of Adrian, showing his list of rewards. He was stunned. The admin grinned at Adrian’s bewildered face before flying away.
