Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 52: The Ugly Truth
Chapter 52: The Ugly Truth
Lily and her father sat in that room for hours talking about the events of her birth and how he met her mother. However when her father came to the part about how her uncle caused a huge rift with his sister that took the cake. "When I brought her back for the night her brother was waiting in my room. "
"Oh no, that couldn’t have been good." Lily could tell her uncle was a greed god who liked his possessions right where he put them. "No, It wasn’t. He immediately accused me of kidnapping his sister and wouldn’t listen to reason thinking I had convinced her into going with me. But what shocked me the most was when your mother walked right up to him slapping, not once but twice when he tried to speak against me."
Lily’s jaw dropped hearing this shocked her mother would raise her hand to anyone. "Wow good to know where some of this backbone comes from." Magnus smiled at his daughter’s antics happy that they could exchange them freely now, loving her playful banter.
"Yes, and he was not happy when she had him dragged away and barred from her temple. At first, he just thought she needed a cool-down period and left her alone for a week, but when he showed up to try and see her he was refused entry by the barrier she erected."
"So what happened next? Did she...." Lily didn’t get the chance to ask before her mate came in looking as worried as ever. "I have been looking for you for hours. Have you not heard my calls in your mind?"
Lily was at a loss for words as she looked to her father not sure how to explain this. "Nephew, I am sorry she didn’t LEAVE A NOTE telling you I had asked for her. We simply got lost in the conversation. My dear, next time don’t ignore your mate’s calls. After what just happened I’d be worried sick if my mate left me without a note." Lily didn’t think about that before leaving that morning. "I’m sorry, Dimitri. I should have let you know or at the very least answered you."
"What was so important that you had to leave your mate so swiftly?" Lily looked at her father who nodded knowing Dimitri needed to now the truth. Lily took a deep breath to steady herself to explain.
"For the last few weeks I have been having dreams, well more then dreams. I found out who my real mother is and who I am as well. The reason I am here with your uncle is because he is.....my father." The shocked look on Dimitri’s face says it all his mind was blown hearing this. "Wait, wait how do you know this? Uncle is this true?"
Magnus nodded as Dimitri sat down abruptly holding his head dumbfounded at what was being told to him. "So he’s your father? How is this possible?" Magnus went into the cliff notes verse of what he told Lily. As he got to the part when Dimitri walked in Lily paid more attention wanting to know what happened as well.
"Vestis tried hard to break her barrier using threats and various forms of power to bring it down, but none of it worked. Because the reason the barrier was erected was because she was pregnant with you. He knew a barrier would happen if your mother was with child, which threw him into a rage for most of her pregnancy."
"We knew we needed to leave, but we had to wait for you to be born first. I didn’t want to risk you or your mother’s life. And when her pains started I wasn’t there. Vestis had been woth her watching you come into the world. Once i got word your mother was in labor i came dlying as gast as I could. Seeing you in your mothers arms I had never seen anything so beautiful and precious in all my years. Your mother felt the same way saying your skin reminded her of lily petals thus we named you Lily."
Lily was crying by this point having always wondered where her name came from. "Shortly after you were born though the barrier came down. We are still unclear as to how he got to your mother’s side. We assumed it was because there was no more danger, but we were very wrong. Vestis came to us begging for forgiveness after his actions and words before your birth. Artemis believed her brother, always thinking he wished the best for her, let him hold you."
Lily shivered afraid of what he was really saying to her when her uncle held her as a baby. "I took your mother to her room only having left you for a short time, but that moment was long enough. I searched everywhere in the pavilion, but could not find the two of you. Flying over the heavens I tried to see where he might have gone with you when I saw a figure with a bundle heading for the physical realm portal."
Lily gripped her mates hand feeling rage towards the man who took her from her parents. He was supposed to love and care for his sister and when her mother finally made a choice for herself it wasn’t him. Looking up at her father she could see the years of pain and sorrow on his face missing his mate and child.
"I followed him down blocking his path. I tried to get you back from him, but he stabbed me with a deadly blade coated in something that weakened me. It was fast acting so when i went to take you I was paralyzed. He laughed at me telling me he’s make you suffer all kinds of hell before turning you against me and your mother for all the pain we caused him. Walking through that portal I thought we would never see you again."
"But your mother wasn’t to far behind me having seen me land she came as fast as her feet would take her. She healed me giving me the one command a mate can give, "Find our child". So that is what I did, I went out and I found you."
