Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 58: Continuing Their Journey
Chapter 58: Continuing Their Journey
Lily explained what the book had showed her, the events of the past before her father was injured until now. There had been more involvement from the Dragon Clan Elders and nobles than was talked about. The scene only showed that they had fought for the nobles not how they came to be with the nobles. Wondering why more wasn’t shown she tries to put her hands on the book again, but nothing happens.
"I guess we have to go off of what we have. So the darkling dragons and the locations were on purpose we just need to figure out what they were after and who created them?" Dimitri nodded following her logic also curious. He tried to think of who might have been involved and there was a few names that came to mind. "What if it was the queens faction? She has more than enough to cause chaos. And she has wanted ultimate power for years it was why she married my father."
"Yeah and your father needed the money at the time. Do you know what was going on to cause the Dragon Clan to go bankrupt?" Dimitri tried to think of what was going on than, but he was a child so his memory would be spotty about the details. "Mother would know. Lets go and speak with her." Closing the book they made there way back coming out the doors they came from.
Once outside the servants had cleaned up half the area and still working to clear the rest as they passed by. She was hopeful that his mother would have answers as she was the other dragon god of the Clan. Walking into her room she looked to be resting, but turned her head toward them when she heard someone entering the room.
"My son, I am doing well. Still sore, but healing just the same. Lily it is good to see you. Thank you again for the Dragon moss. I would have died without it." Lily knelt down to her side checking her vitals and wound area. She was doing well and the healer had changed the dragon moss to a small stripe with the sides looking red, but not irritated.
"You are most welcome, my Lady. I’ve seen wounds like the one on you and if not treated properly the person has little chance of survival. I am glad you pulled through. I finally get to tell you who I really am." The woman smiled up at Lily with a knowing smile. "You think I didn’t know who you were? My brother maybe the headmaster, but he could never hide from me. Young lady I have known about you from the beginning."
The news of this hit both her and Dimitri surprised that all this had been set up. *Fate must have her way.* Was all Lily could think knowing a balance must always be met for the worlds to stay in harmony. Seeing all the history like she did it was meant to be. Dimitri had a pained look on his face wondering why he she never told him.
"Did you always know she would be my mate?" Lady Kyoka looked to her son seeing the hurt look on his face. "I knew it was a possibility. It was always up to you about finding her. Somethings must be left to chance because freewill is the right of any sentient being. It was always your choice." Dimitri took a breath of relief, happy to know he wasn’t pushed into a decision unknowingly. He had grown up with too many people deciding things for him.
Lily was glad to hear that her father wasn’t alone and in some way they were able to be civil with each other. "Where you mad at my father for what he did, like my uncle?" Lady Kyoka had a distant look on her face for a moment before she answered Lily.
"I was, but honestly I couldn’t be to mad since I went and had you, Dimitri. While circumstances were different for both of us we chose not to judge each other for those choices. When he told me how Vestis reacted to everything I knew adding to that fire would only cause more harm. War helps no one but the one in power, and I was not going to be apart of something like that."
Lily understood why since her father went missing the last time a war broke out that she was involved in. "So is there any other surprises I should know about? Maybe a hint?" Lily was curious if the Lady would know of anything about the darkling dragons. "Yes, after last nights attack I am sure that those dragons were cursed in some way. There are only a few gods that have that kind of power, and even fewer that know how to use it."
"I felt dark energy coming from them when I cut them down out of the sky a few days ago. I didn’t think anything of it, but Ive felt similar with the slug too. Could they be connected?" Dimitri thought about this as his mother spoke up. "It is very likely. Did the book show you anything?"
Lily told Lady Kyoka what she saw giving her all the details she could. "Hmm, it sounds like my clues then answers. I am on the mend and this expedition seems more important now then ever. Go I will be fine. My brother will be here soon anyways after hearing about what happened to me. I’m sure Trinee told him."
Lily looked to Dimitri who hesitated for a moment, but nodded yes kissing her hand. "Alright, mother we will go. Don’t strain yourself and rest well." Lily stood as well moving to wait at the door for him. Most of her things were still packed so they could leave within the hour. One of the priest’s opened the door as they went to the room they were staying in. as she was putting her first aid kit away Trinee came in the door with two bundles. "Oh good, I was hoping you would come before we left. Is that the Dragon Moss?"
Trinee nodded yes handling one to Lily. "Yup, I wanted to be sure you had some for your journey having used what you had for Lady Kyoka. The dragon moss in your lab is going crazy. Should I cut it back?" Lily’s eyes got really big, but then had a great idea for the excess.
"Take it to the healers in the city and if you can send some to the healers in the country side do it. If it looks like its going to over take my lab let it. I didn’t leave anything that I would worry about. Healers need that moss so give it to them." Trinee shook her head yes happy with this idea. "Keep using the water distiller in my lab if need be move it to yours. I understand why."
"I have been using it for some of my experiments as well and can see what you mean about needing real clean water. Find what you can I’ll join you when I can." Trinee hugged her friend hoping she came back in one piece. Lily never had a friend like Trinee and was glad to know someone had her back like a sister.
Stowing the Dragon Moss away she slung her pack on her back ready to go. Dimitri had left them say their farewells before walking over to Lily. "Ready?" She looked to him a determined look about her. "And steady. Let’s go."
