377 Settling the Affairs

Vincent was quick enough to make the necessary preparation to take Tilla to his mansion. He could have carried her since his mansion wasn’t that far away from the Kilerth Castle.

However, he wanted to make sure that Tilla wouldn’t feel uncomfortable and cold, even if it was for a short while. That’s why he preferred taking her in a carriage that was meant for the transportation of the castle’s guests.

After asking the coachman to prepare the carriage for the short travel, he went to find Caspian in the punishment room.

‘Oh, did he already send that maid to the Isolation Center?’ he asked himself when he found the punishment room to be empty.

‘Is he already back in his workroom?’ Vincent decided to check there before going to inform Tilla of the arrangement.

However, when he was about to climb up the stairs, he stumbled upon Zenon.

“Zenon! Did you see His Majesty by any chance?” Vincent asked the advisor who looked like he was in a hurry.

Zenon gave a nod and quickly replied, “Yes. He is in his workroom at the moment. But he needs to be at the courtyard in front of the servants’ quarter shortly. So, don’t take much of his time.”

“Courtyard?” Vincent asked while slightly knitting his brows.

.....

Instead of entertaining Vincent though, Zenon tapped on his shoulder and said, “I’m in a hurry. Talk to you in a bit.” He then instantly swooshed towards the backdoor of the central wing.

Vincent couldn’t help but feel like something big was about to go down in front of the servants’ quarter. If that was the case then he also wanted to hurry and take Tilla away before the paths were blocked.

Without wasting any more seconds, he quickly rushed towards the King’s workroom. He wanted to see Caspian before leaving the castle.

“Your Majesty,” Vincent bowed his head and greeted Caspian upon reaching the King’s study.

“Oh, you’re here already.” Caspian lifted his gaze from the papers on his desk and looked at Vincent. “So, what did the Queen say?” he asked, guessing that Vincent was there regarding the matter with Tilla.

Vincent gave a subtle smile and said, “Her Majesty agreed to my request. I wanted to see you before returning to my mansion. I probably will be visiting less frequently, that’s why.”

Caspian had already guessed that this would happen. So, he nodded his head and acknowledged Vincent’s words. “Okay. But don’t be a stranger to the castle. And definitely don’t do any harm to Tilla in any way. I don’t want to see Anastasia getting all sad because you broke Tilla’s heart and her trust.”

Vincent scoffed and quickly said, “Hey, I won’t be breaking anyone’s heart, and neither will I break anyone’s trust. I am a man of honor.”

“I know,” Caspian said in a serious tone.

Vincent smiled and clasped his hands together before saying, “Alright then. I will leave you to your work. I will take Tilla to the Queen’s chamber before heading out.”

“Okay.” Caspian nodded in permission.

Vincent immediately ran towards the servants’ quarter after taking a leave from the King. When he reached there, he was a bit surprised to see the maids and servants slowly gathering in the courtyard. He instantly guessed what was about to happen.

‘They are going to announce yesterday’s incident to everyone, huh?’ And when he saw Beatrice tied up in one corner of the courtyard, he knew that they were going to announce the punishment for breaching the law, especially the trust of the King as well.

‘It’s a good thing they are doing this in front of everyone and not just letting them find out later through gossip,’ Vincent thought to himself as he passed by the maids and servants and made his way toward Tilla’s room.

“Hey, how are you doing?” Vincent asked when he knocked and entered Tilla’s room.

Tilla smiled and replied, “Unfortunately, same as before.”

Vincent instantly took Tilla’s hand and leaned down to plant a kiss on her knuckles. Since the vampires were gathering outside, he didn’t want to delay taking Tilla out of her room any further and said, “Tilla, I asked both the King and the Queen. They are okay with you going to my mansion. So, let’s head out right away.”

Tilla was, however, not prepared to hear that news and definitely not ready to jump at the opportunity to go with Vincent. “They agreed to send me with you?” she asked somewhat skeptically.

“Yes!” Vincent replied excitedly. “Now, now. Let’s not wait for the paths to be blocked by all the vampires gathering outside. Let’s go before we get stuck here for another few hours.”

Vincent immediately shifted the blanket away from Tilla and slipped his arms under her head and her thighs.

“Wait, wait, wait!” Tilla pressed her palm on Vincent’s chest and looked at him with a questioning gaze. “You’re being serious?” she asked while displaying her confusion.

Vincent gave a nod. “Yes, you silly! Did you think I was joking the whole time? We are heading to my place right away. The carriage is ready in front of the main gate. The Queen wants to meet you before we go. So, I will take you to her chamber first.”

Vincent then carefully picked Tilla up in his arms without waiting for her to protest again.

Tilla also gave in once she was in his arms. She was already well aware by now that once Vincent was determined to do something, he would do it anyhow. Although she was a little worried about leaving Anastasia on her own, she knew that she wouldn’t be of any help even if she was to stay in the castle.

“Umm…” Vincent looked at Tilla and then warned her before opening the door, “I am going to take a run. So, brace yourself.”

Rather than wanting to take Tilla with him as soon as possible, he wanted to run so that Tilla wouldn’t hear any gossip about them. Since they were going to head out right through the mass of vampires, Vincent was sure that there would be gossip and speculations going on about the two of them.

“Alright.” Tilla stiffly grabbed Vincent’s coat and mentally prepared herself for the run.

In no time, the couple ran right past all the vampires, making almost everyone turn their heads and look at them.
