Chapter 52: No Longer Innocent

Late at night, the entire production crew was kept awake because of Yi Ran causing trouble. Although the staff tried to convince Yi Ran to switch to a different room with polite smiles on their faces, they were already cursing him in their minds, wishing they could just cut ties and walk away.

What a fucking drama queen!

It wasn’t that no one tried asking Fang Minghui for help, but Fang Minghui intentionally responded with indulgence: "Instead of convincing Yi Ran to compromise, wouldn’t it be better to ask Lin Qin to surrender his room? Lin Qin looks like he’s easier to talk to, doesn’t he?"

What else could the staff say? They couldn’t really go and ask Lin Qin to give up his room, could they? Poor Lin Xiaotu—what kind of bad luck brought Yi Ran upon him? First, Yi Ran deliberately fell earlier, trying to blame Lin Xiaotu, and when his actions were exposed, he couldn’t even manage an apology. Now, tonight, he was even more shameless, demanding the host give up the master bedroom for the guest? What sort of guest behaves like this?

The staff were beyond fed up.

Finally, the director himself stepped in, persuading and reasoning with Yi Ran. But Yi Ran refused to listen and behaved like a three-year-old child demanding whatever he wanted with zero accountability. No, even three-year-olds are more polite than that.

While Fang Minghui hadn’t tried to persuade Yi Ran, he watched the chaos unfold from the side, clearly enjoying the spectacle. What he was truly waiting for was Lin Qin to emerge and figure out how Lin Qin would handle the situation.

Sure enough, after nearly ten minutes, the door to Lin Qin’s room opened.

However, it wasn’t Lin Qin who stepped out, but Meng Chao.

What was Meng Chao doing in Lin Qin’s room so late at night! Fang Minghui couldn’t help but recall the ambiguous moments between Meng Chao and Lin Qin earlier, which had already sparked his suspicions. Now, those suspicions were merely confirmed.

Fang Minghui narrowed his eyes. So this is why Lin Qin managed to land such a golden opportunity with the film *Twin Feelings*. He had latched onto Meng Chao all along.

Although Meng Chao’s background in the industry remained mysterious, those at Fang Minghui’s level more or less had an inkling. If it was the Meng Family pulling strings, then Lin Qin landing the lead in *Twin Feelings* and earning the Cannes Award wasn’t anything surprising.

"Ha." Fang Minghui chuckled softly. He thought after all these years, Lin Qin would still retain the arrogance of their high school days. Turns out, even he couldn’t resist the grinding stone of time; his edges had been completely worn down.

Is Lin Qin really any different from Yi Ran, a shameless freeloader who spreads his legs and begs to be fucked?

Standing with arms crossed in the hallway, Fang Minghui watched Meng Chao stride purposefully toward Yi Ran, radiating an oppressive aura so palpable that even standing at a distance, Fang Minghui could feel it.

Of course, no one from the Meng Family could ever fully shed their air of dominance, even if they had fallen to the status of a mere performer.

Meng Chao’s presence was overwhelming. The once-noisy Yi Ran immediately went silent as he watched Meng Chao approach, swallowing words that had been halfway out of his mouth, choking on them until he coughed a few times.

Meng Chao stopped beside Yi Ran, and Yi Ran instinctively retreated several steps.

The director looked at Meng Chao like he was a savior coming to rescue them. He hesitated for a moment as his hand reached out to pat Meng Chao’s shoulder but was intimidated by Meng Chao’s imposing aura and drew it back. "Meng, we’re counting on you. The crew’s hope of getting any sleep tonight rests on your shoulders."

Meng Chao nodded slightly at the director before finally turning his gaze to Yi Ran.

"Do you believe that if I want you gone, you’d be out of here this instant?" Meng Chao asked, his voice steadied, not rising or falling in volume, yet imbued with an undeniable sense of pressure.

Yi Ran couldn’t help but swallow his saliva. Even though he had stood up brazenly to the director earlier, before Meng Chao, he immediately cowered.

He could disrespect Lin Qin. He could disrespect the production team of *Together*. But even if he was stupid, Yi Ran realized he couldn’t afford to offend someone of Meng Chao’s stature, known as a legend in the entertainment industry. Not even with Fang Minghui backing him.

Realizing he had angered Meng Chao, Yi Ran—being the kind of person who knew when to submit—immediately bowed and apologized, "Senior Meng, I truly didn’t mean any trouble. It’s just the mosquitoes in my room were unbearable, biting me all over. Look, I’ve got several bites on my arm." Saying this, he started pulling up his sleeve, attempting to show Meng Chao his arm as proof.

"Let him stay in Mr. Fang’s room tonight. I’m sure Mr. Fang won’t mind," Meng Chao replied to the director without sparing Yi Ran another glance.

The director agreed immediately, and Yi Ran couldn’t help but perk up, delighted at the thought of staying in the same room as Fang Minghui. Despite knowing Fang Minghui had been a passive observer of events, the director still exaggerated the details while reporting the situation as they escorted Yi Ran to Fang Minghui.

One could only say the director was a true master of storytelling, spinning things so effectively that Fang Minghui almost felt guilty for not letting Yi Ran bunk with him tonight—it seemed like a heinous crime not to do so.

Ultimately, the matter wrapped up satisfactorily. Yi Ran went off to sleep in the sponsor’s room. Although Fang Minghui outwardly showed a bit of reluctance, once Yi Ran moved in and started teasing him a little, Fang Minghui quickly lost his composure and pushed Yi Ran down onto the bed.

Yet, in the throes of passion, Fang Minghui found himself calling out Lin Qin’s name.

The production crew, finally finding a moment of peace, collectively breathed a sigh of relief and yawned as they went back to their rooms to get some rest.

...

Lin Qin nestled in his blankets. Seeing Meng Chao walk in and shut the door behind him, Lin Qin let out a breath of relief, poking his head out and asking, "Is it resolved?"

Meng Chao walked over, lifted the blankets, and lay down beside Lin Qin. Lin Qin rolled over and burrowed into Meng Chao’s arms, where Meng Chao held him tightly. "Resolved. Get some sleep."

Lin Qin shifted around in Meng Chao’s arms, finding a comfortable spot, and let out a yawn. Before long, he drifted off to sleep.

Meng Chao lowered his gaze to Lin Qin’s sleeping face, his expression unbelievably tender. He thought back to earlier when Lin Qin had tugged at his hand, blushing fiercely as he asked Meng Chao if they could sleep together tonight. Meng Chao felt a mix of amusement and heartache.

Even though Lin Qin hid it well and appeared strong, the fear brought about by Fang Minghui’s presence couldn’t possibly dissipate so quickly. During the day, Lin Qin could mask it with his excellent acting skills.

But in the deep of night, the fear resurfaced, enveloping Lin Qin and making it impossible for him to sleep.

Lin Qin was aware of his vulnerability and willingly exposed it to Meng Chao. Earlier, before they returned to the room, Lin Qin had quietly tugged on Meng Chao’s hand, his face red as he asked if they could sleep together tonight.

Meng Chao’s answer was obvious. Although sharing a bed with Lin Qin was a kind of torment for Meng Chao, it was also a sweet torture.

Meng Chao lowered his head, kissed Lin Qin’s forehead, and softly murmured, "Goodnight. Tomorrow will be better."

In response to Meng Chao’s words, Lin Qin shifted again in his arms, completely exposing himself to Meng Chao, without an ounce of fear.

Indeed, Lin Qin now trusted Meng Chao wholeheartedly. While he had once instinctively resisted Meng Chao’s touch, he now relied on Meng Chao and especially enjoyed their subtle, intimate exchanges that were reserved only for the two of them.

Meng Chao naturally welcomed this development, waiting for the right moment—the moment when he could finally devour his little bunny whole.
