Chapter 220: Chapter 220 Contact

“Where are you?”

Roger asked directly.

He knew that a guy like Henrik would never agree outright if asked for help directly. He was 100% certain of that.

But if he did the opposite and said he was in trouble, Henrik would definitely be the first to jump out to help.

Henrik took a couple of breaths.

“Where am I? Where else could I be?!”

He roared somewhat in a fit of anger.

It was at this moment that a woman’s voice came through the phone.

“Are you still moving or not?”

“If you’re not moving, I’m leaving. There’s a cruise party to get to shortly.”

“Go, go, go! Hurry up and leave!”

Henrik said impatiently.

“Pay up!”

“The job isn’t even finished, what money?!”

“Do you have no shame?!”

The woman’s voice over the phone was full of disbelief.

Henrik muttered a few words under his breath, his voice gradually fading as if he was looking for something.

“Why is there only half?”

The woman screamed.

“Heh, you should be thankful we’re on the 17th floor right now!”

Henrik sneered.

“Bang!”

After the rustling sound of clothing, the door was slammed shut.

“Damn it!”

Henrik picked up the phone.

“Where were we?”

“Where are you?” Roger asked again.

“What’s the point of asking that, didn’t you say you were in trouble?”

“What’s going on?!”

Henrik’s voice became serious.

Roger roughly recounted the events of the past few days to Henrik, of course polishing up many of the details.

He added a lot of coincidences and surprise attacks to make his own combat abilities seem less conspicuous, while also hiding Anna’s existence.

He hadn’t yet figured out how to explain Anna’s origins to Henrik.

“That’s the situation.”

“That really is big trouble!”

Henrik’s voice was grave.

“You can’t stay in Bordeaux any longer; you need to get out of there first.”

“Your actions were very timely. Those who saw you have been dealt with, and you were in a closed environment. The Voodoo Association probably doesn’t even know about what happened in Cursed Land yet.”

“Now that you’ve left there, the trail is broken, and the likelihood of tracing it back to you isn’t high.”

“If you’re lucky enough, you’ll just need to lay low outside for a while before you can return to Bordeaux.”

“Come to Kazhen.”

“It’s a port city, extremely convenient for travel, and the Voodoo Association’s influence can’t reach here.”

“I’ll give you an address; leave immediately, and we’ll meet soon!”

As he spoke, Henrik was about to hang up the phone.

“Wait a minute!”

Roger spoke up.

“When something like this happened, you were the first person I thought of. Likewise, if you ever get into trouble, I hope to be able to help too!”

There was silence on the other end of the phone, followed by Henrik’s voice, feigning nonchalance.

“Haha, what trouble could I possibly have?”

“My only troubles are money and women; too little of the former, and too many of the latter falling for me.”

“Ah, my life is so hard.”

“Henrik, I think you know what I mean.”

Roger said earnestly.

This time, Henrik retracted his earlier demeanor, “I knew it, women’s mouths are unreliable.”

“It was Ingmar who told you that, wasn’t it? That blabbermouth woman!”

“Since you already know, I won’t keep it hidden from you any longer, this is different from the missions we usually carry out, it’s a personal vendetta.”

“Moreover, facing such an enemy, having more people might not necessarily be of any help.”

“As a man, I am very aware of that thing’s ability to enchant; involving you would be tantamount to harming you.”

“I don’t want you to become another me.”

Henrik’s voice trembled a bit.

“That feeling is too painful.”

“Did you find any clues?”

Roger asked.

“A little, get out of Bordeaux first, we’ll discuss the details when we meet up.”

After hanging up the phone and checking the time, Roger made a call to Amanda.

“Where have you been recently? I couldn’t reach you at all.”

Amanda asked, sounding a bit worried.

“I ran into a bit of trouble, it’s related to the Voodoo Association; be careful these days,” Roger said.

Roger didn’t go into detail but still reminded her that as Margaret’s student, Amanda was relatively safe for now.

“By the way, do you know why Adeline was sent to Rivervalley Town?”

“They said it was a temporary deployment to carry out a special mission, but I don’t know the specifics.”

“However, there seem to have been some incidents at Rivervalley Town lately, and I heard that the whole town is under martial law.”

“I wanted to take leave to go there and see for myself, but my teacher told me to focus on my studies and not to worry about that place.”

“Were those Miss Margaret’s own words?”

Roger paused, pondering the implications. It seemed likely that Margaret might know something—had the Voodoo Association caused some trouble there?

“How’s your study progressing?”

Roger still remembered the issue of awakening a Magician.

“Everything’s normal, the teacher says I’m very gifted, and as long as I accumulate knowledge methodically, I should be able to awaken very soon.”

“According to them, once awakened, there will be a big difference compared to ordinary people; they call this level ‘Transcendent.'”

Amanda said excitedly.

“By the way, Roger, you’ve been exposed to this knowledge longer than I have, have you entered the Transcendent Realm yet?”

“Haha…”

Roger grinned.

Heaven knows how much effort he had put into passing the Green Grass Trial; bloodlines beat everything. While he thought this, of course, he couldn’t admit it out loud.

“Of course!”

“The Transcendent Realm is quite simple; I reached it a long time ago. You need to step up.”

“Nowadays, ordinary Transcendent Witches are no match for me.”

“Really?”

“You’re amazing!”

Hearing the female sorceress’s praise, Roger felt strangely odd for some reason.

“They said that it’s very difficult for an ordinary Demon Hunter to enter the Transcendent Realm. Do you also have a special bloodline?”

But Amanda didn’t dwell on this topic further and, after speaking a few more words with Roger, ended the call.

By this time, Roger had already left the nearby alley and decided to directly find a car to take him to the train station.

Before departing, he dialed Adeline’s number again. To his surprise, someone picked up quickly, whereas his previous attempts had always met with a busy signal.

Adeline told Roger that their mission was over, but she didn’t share any details about it with him.

At this moment, she was en route back to Baytown.

Adeline sounded like it had been a regular mission, and coupled with Margaret’s assurance, Roger was immediately much reassured.

Just as Roger was leaving Bordeaux, at a villa in Rivervalley Town, Ashley drove to the central hospital, entered an isolation room, and appeared to be engrossed in some research, working late into the night without leaving.

But what no one knew was that at midnight, a shadow crossed mountains and hills to arrive at a tall peak.

Whatever he did there, he disappeared from the spot shortly afterward.

As time ticked by, two hours later, the same shadow reappeared at the same location.

But just then, a somewhat cold voice rang out from the mountaintop.

“Is this your secret?”

The shadow turned, revealing Ashley’s shocked face.
