Chapter 46: Chapter 45 - Siris.

In every story, there are two types of villains.

One who was born evil or lives committing evil without a reason, and the second who wasn’t born evil but circumstances forced them to turn.

Who do people sympathize with?

The second one, of course.

But even among the second type, some leave an unforgettable mark on everyone.

They are called peak villains.

They suffer and struggle a lot, making them seem so miserable that one would want them to live even if they did something worthy of being killed.

There was a woman like that in this story’s plot—someone even the original Raven couldn’t woo with his superb flirting skills.

If Raven ever failed to get a girl, then it was her.

This girl, however, was essential in defeating a major villain while solidifying Raven’s position in the family.

The problem was that this woman hated the Vaise family.

It wasn’t because they had done something to her, but because they had done nothing for her.

She was a part of the Vaise family, yet no one knew about her.

She was tortured and experimented on, yet no one came to save her.

Every day of her life was a living hell, yet no one came to give her some warmth.

Even her hate for the Vaise family wasn’t her own but forced on her.

She couldn’t do anything to the one who was behind her hell, because by the time she came to her senses, she was under control.

So, all she could do was direct her hatred toward the Vaise family, who ignored her existence.

She was a villain who was supposed to appear in the latter part of the story when she had regained her senses.

’So, why the fuck is she here?!’

Raven, inside the arena, roared inwardly as he stared at the girl who was supposed to be his opponent.

Raven was sure; it was her.

Black hair that flew down her back like silk, her face, despite being cold, was alluring, and her icy eyes that could freeze even the ice—it was definitely her.

She was younger, and her gaze was blank, but she was the one Raven thought she was.

’That’s fucking Siris!’

The best way to deal with her was to kill her—Raven knew that. But that didn’t mean he would kill her.

No, it would be better to say, he couldn’t kill her.

No one could kill her except for her master and her master’s master.

Even if he could kill her, Raven wouldn’t.

Why?

Because—

’Fucking indigo-ranked opportunity? For real? Am I lucky enough to encounter another one so soon?’

—His fate eyes had again activated on their own, showing him something he couldn’t believe he was seeing.

Indigo-ranked opportunity.

One was enough to make Raven this strong, how much would another one affect him?

He didn’t know—he couldn’t know.

But there was one thing he was sure of—

’I can’t miss this opportunity.’

However, he didn’t know when he would see her again after today, so he had to make the best of this opportunity.

"Sir," he turned toward Gerax, his gaze turning cold. "Why does she not look like a student of this academy?"

His question made Gerax frown in annoyance. ’This is why I hate sharp guy—’

"Could it be that you don’t know that people outside of the academy can’t participate in an official duel like this one?" Raven added, intentionally poking Garex’s sore spot.

The guy hated it when someone called him incompetent, and Raven did the same, although he was indirect.

"Watch your mouth," Gerax growled, his grey eyes turning cold. "I know more about this academy than you could ever know."

"Then who is this?" Raven asked, pointing at Siris as he stepped closer to her.

She stepped back instinctively, but Gerax didn’t notice that.

"Why should I?" Gerax frowned. "All you need to know is that she is a new student in the academy."

"Ah, a new student?" Raven turned back to Siris, his eyes momentarily turning golden, his expression shifting as he appeared before her in a flash.

"What are you doing—?!" Gerax’s eyes widened as he lunged toward Raven, but before he could reach him—

"Hello, I am your senior! You can call me Raven."

—Raven’s words echoed through the empty arena as he patted Siris’s shoulder.

’What?’ Gerax paused, his expression shifting between disbelief and shock.

’Did she just let him approach her?’

The Principal knew what kind of creature this girl was.

She was the latest experiment—a perfect masterpiece created by them—but she wasn’t perfect in every aspect.

She, unlike a normal human, couldn’t express her emotions, nor could she feel anything.

She acted solely on her instincts, and to her instincts, everyone other than her master was an enemy.

’So, why did she not attack him? What’s going on?’

Gerax didn’t know that when Raven moved, he had stunned the girl in her spot with a soul attack.

He didn’t use an attack strong enough to kill her, but enough to stun her soul for a few seconds.

After all, he knew she would try to kill him if he approached her.

This was the only option he had.

And now that he was close to her, he proceeded with the next part of his plan.

"Hey," he whispered. "I’m your big brother."

He wasn’t sure if Siris, who wasn’t even completely conscious, could hear him, but in the vain hope that she was, he told her what he needed to.

"Tonight, I will break you out of this hell. Please believe in me."

He still didn’t have a plan, but he was going to make one, and he would make sure to rescue her.

He was given a chance to save one of the few characters in the story whose death looked unjust to Raven, and he wouldn’t let this chance slip by.

’It definitely isn’t because of the indigo-ranked opportunity!’ He justified inwardly before he saw Siris’s eyes regaining their color, and he leaped back in haste.

Whoosh!

The moment he stepped back, Siris’s bagger cut through the spot he was standing in.

If he were even a second late, he would’ve been cut instead of the wind.

’Ah,’ Gerax sighed in relief as he saw this. ’She’s back to normal.’

He was about to stop the match as he thought something was wrong, but since things had turned out as they were supposed to be, he let it be.

"Damn. Why is she so violent?" Raven, on the other hand, frowned, his expression filled with dissatisfaction. "Just because you look beautiful and I approached you first, you think you can attack me?"

’Is he angry?’ Gerax scowled. ’Ignorant brat. You will die soon.’

He stepped forward, glaring at Raven with contempt. "I will disqualify you if you do something like this again."

Both of them failed to notice the subtle clench of Siris’s fists. ’Big brother...?’

It was a word foreign to her, yet it felt warm.

For the first time, she felt warmth, and it was strange, so she attacked Raven the moment she could control her body.

"According to the rule—" Raven, oblivious to her changes, tried to retort to Garex, but the guy had enough of this drama.

"Shut up!" He ordered, his expression as serious as it could be. "If you are so eager to run your mouth, I assume you are ready for the fight as well."

Without even confirming Raven’s opinion about starting the match, he declared. "Fight!"

But before Siris could even move, Raven raised his hands, "I surrender!"

His voice echoed through the walls of the arena as the air itself was still, unable to believe what had happened.

Gerax, wide-eyed, stared at Raven in shock. ’D-Did this guy just...’

He couldn’t believe how the guy who seemed angry a second ago could accept defeat even before clashing blades.

"Are you really a Vaise?"

The question inadvertently left his lips, and Raven, in response, grinned. "Flesh and bones, yeah."
