Dungeon of Niflheim-Chapter 786: Freyja (2)
As Frost witnessed the love and still heated passion between the husband and wife he couldn't help but remember the faces of Maya and Daki, missing them once again.
'It's been too long since I last felt their touch on my skin, the peace of waking up with them by my side.' He could sense his heart twisting as remembered their smiles, their laughter, their welcoming and tantalising embrace.
Resisting the urge to dwell in his own despair Frost shook his head and forced a smile, focusing his gaze on the woman that was still standing atop his teacher's back.
He could see a strong resemblance between the mother and daughter. Khione had much of her father's beauty in her facial structure but almost everything else came from her mother. Her almost black skin, her silky white hair, her prominent backside and her buxom chest. Her figure was the spitting image of her mother's if you toned down the muscles.
Unlike Khione, Freyja sported a more minimalist toning, an athletic build rather than that of a bodybuilder. She was also a little shorter than her daughter and far less open when it came to showing off her bare skin.
Currently she wore a rather ravishing azure dress adorned with shining silver crystals arrayed in a pattern that was reminiscent of the night sky that closely hugged her prominent curves. Freyja gave off the allure of a mature woman, her every movement easily eclipsing the efforts of a young girl like Khione. A woman with experience and great skill….Shivali was a lucky man.
Eventually after forcing her to let out an apology to all those present for her unbecoming behaviour Freyja allowed her daughter to stand back up.
From what Frost had come to understand about Khione after interacting with her for many hours and from what he had seen earlier when her father had frozen her in place he half expected her to flip out, to double down on her cursing and aggressive behaviour but instead she was quieter than a dormouse. Her shoulders were slumped forward, and her head was lowered in a submissive manner, a very strange sight to see from someone so normally outspoken and jacked to the high heavens. Clearly her fear towards her mother ran deep.
The group of four took their seats before a large table fashioned out of some crystal ore that Frost couldn't even begin to identify, all he knew was that it must be rare and expensive.
Freyja sat beside Shivali on one side of the table while Frost sat next to the silent and slightly trembling Khion on the other.
"Are you alright?" He couldn't help but quietly ask, finding the whole situation awkward.
"…..I'm fine" Khione didn't want to respond to him but a sharp glance from Freyja corrected that rude behaviour. She even straightened her posture, sat more ladylike and put a strained smile on her lips. Internally however she was screaming, hating on her father for not giving her any warning, badmouthing Frost for daring to see her in such a submissive manner and also bemoaning herself for getting cocky. Her mother however never entered this list of blame as doing so would only worsen her situation, a fact she had come to painfully learn in her formative years.
Freyja was someone she was completely powerless against, even her elder sisters cowered before her wrath. While she had the moniker of Raging Valkyrie her mother had Judge, Jury and Executioner.
Khione was obviously uncomfortable and annoyed by the current situation but held everything in because of her fear towards her mother. It was clear that this little get together was intended to foster a relationship between her and Frost otherwise the rest of the family would be joining them.
"Nephew how was your time with my daughter, I hope she didn't cause you too much trouble." Shivali asked somewhat bravely, knowing full well that his daughter would have flipped out if he asked this question if wasn't Freyja by his side.
'Damn old man what do mean by that? What kind of trouble could I have caused him?' The best Khione could do in response was glare at her father while loudly thinking what she would have liked to say. Freyja allowed her to do this much as restraining her actions any further would only backfire. Khione may fear her mother, but her innate nature was just too volatile, use too much pressure and she'll explode, consequences be damned.
"No trouble at all Uncle in fact I've been able to learn a lot from Khione, she's a very good teacher." Frost wisely chose to sing her praises, his instincts warning him of a danger lying behind any other response.
His reply proved to be the correct one as Khione's hand that had at some point made its way towards his right leg returned to her side. If Frost dared to badmouth her in any way she would have pinched him so hard that he would have lost the leg.
Instead she nodded her head in agreement, appearing proud, almost smug as she looked at both her parents.
'How's that then, bet you two were hoping for him to say something bad about me.' Her parents were always trying to admonish her behaviour, so annoying.
"Because of her patience I've been able to understand and use the first two stances of the Lunar eyes, the third however still eludes me." Frost continued to embellish Khione's good traits causing her to repeatedly nod her head and let her nose rise higher and higher.
Shivali and Freyja were caught by surprise, they could sense no fallacy or coercion within Frost and thus had to believe that their little girl, their little volcano was actually nice to a man weaker than herself.
"I told you not to worry about that, the third stance is a lot harder to master. It's already impressive that you've managed to understand the first two in such a short time." Forgetting where she was and who she was sitting in front of Khione spoke in the same manner as when she and Frost were alone in the training room, warm, encouraging and with a smile.
'Did our daughter just praise the talents of someone other than herself?' Shivali spoke telepathically to his wife, shocked by the situation before him.
'Yes, I think she did and with a smile on her lips.' Freyja responded, no less shocked than her husband.
Drawn in by the strange behaviour shown by their daughter Shivali and Freyja continued to silently listen to Frost as he described his time with Khione and marvelled at their daughter's warm and friendly expression as he spoke.
Through the eyes of the Primordial Ice King and his wife Frejya, Frost and Khione were getting on really well. Surprising given the fact that during their first meeting they desired nothing more than to rip the other apart.
The husband and wife pair soon found themselves smiling from ear to ear, Shivali singing his own praises about his ability to find the perfect match for his darling daughter while Freyja almost tearing up as she remembered the first time she met her Shiv. She even detected a certain something in her daughter's eyes, it was faint but clearly there.
"Seems the two of you have been getting on quite well during your private time together." Freyja tested the waters a little.
"…I'd like to think so, we have a lot in common after all." Frost replied innocently failing to notice the hidden agenda behind Frejya question.
Khione however after being corrupted by Frost immediately turned a bright shade of pink as she focused on the term 'private time together'.
"W…W…What are talking about m…mother why would I enjoy spending time with this w…weakling." She denied in a stuttering panic.
"Hoh, is that so~." Frejya donned a playful expression and suddenly felt the urge to tease this innocent daughter of hers.
'Could she really be interested in Frost?' Her every instinct as a woman and a mother said yes but before today her daughter never showed even the slightest interest in such affairs.
Regardless she was happy for Khione, Frost was a looker just like Shivali. He had a comparable background, a good personality and many traits in common with her. Khione would struggle to ever find anyone remotely as good as Frost, of this she was certain.
'I must ensure that this marriage succeeds by any means necessary.' Freyja made a personal oath, determined to see her daughter hitched to the young man sitting beside her.
Soon their food was brought in by the servants, its quality being beyond anything Frost had ever seen before.
"Ohhh storm dragon eye fillet my favourite." Khione seemed to quickly perk up as a servant brought in several plates of her favourite dish.
"Of course Khione, you've worked hard so you should be rewarded." Said Shivali in a loving tone. His words however made Khione tremble, her mind latching on to possible hidden meanings as she thought back to their earlier stand-off.
Her father had crossed her bottom line several times today and not once did she manage to counterattack. This storm dragon eye fillet was clearly a bribe, an indirect way to lessen her inevitable revenge.
She glanced at her father with a mixture of malice and mischief, lingering silently for a few seconds before accepting the bribe reluctantly. Shivali had earned a little grace with his actions, but only a little.
Freyja struggled to hold in her laughter as she witnessed such an exchange knowing full well how pathetic her husband was when it came to their youngest daughter.
She didn't plan to help him with his future predicament however as the marriage was initially his idea and although she supported it she wasn't willing share in any repercussions that may arise from it.
Shivali the mighty Primordial Ice King would thus be left on his own to face the music when his darling daughter finally decided to bring down the hammer.
Frejya alongside the vast majority of his other wives took great pleasure in seeing him squirm helplessly, a sadistic trait they all shared.
