"You want facts? I'll give you facts. Your friend attempted to take over Texas and killed who knows how many hunters to feed an army of cryptids and possessed humans under his control. Then probably lured that titan rank cryptid to our gates just to get me and Scofield busy fighting against it.

Those actions made him a criminal, but even those sins would have been forgiven by the government after he became a holy rank hunter. The rest of the facts and the answers to your questions are all under your nose, but you just don't want to see them." As he spoke, Jon poured his flask empty on the mug of coffee which by then barely contained any coffee in it.

"So that's why I bumped into him at the communication center in Santa Barbara. It wasn't an accident, but he also wasn't looking for me. He was trying to keep the communications down. This means..."

"Don't say it." Medusa clenched her fists as tears trickled down her blindfold.

"He's the one responsible for the missing ships and the lost communications." Luna voiced out everyone's thoughts, uncaring of Medusa's inner turmoil.

"Why would he do something like that?" Medusa asked, still refusing to believe Sam capable of so much evil.

"It must be somehow related to his trait. The way he described it, it allowed him to see as far and wide as he wanted and he could see anything and everything, but not through solid matter.

This means he can probably see things we can't and he probably saw something that tipped him off on how to become a holy rank hunter first and then how to promote himself to the next rank whatever it is called." Uriel said thinking back on the moment Sam spoke directly to Water warlock who was supposedly hidden within him.

"Maybe... that one person you know is a god." Luna said, avoiding to mention Water warlock's name out loud.

"I don't know, he was too chill for a god." Nika dismissively waved a hand in front of her.

"Who are you talking about?" Jon scowled.

"Don't mind them, uncle. Now I get why you were trying to hunt down Sam, to make him pay for his misdeeds." Medusa hurriedly changed the subject.

"I'm sorry, but that's not the reason." Despite her alluring curves and mature appearance, Medusa still looked like a naive child to Jon's eyes and he resisted the idea of bursting her bubble.

"Then why?" Medusa tilted her head, unaware of the pitying glare she earned from everyone present.

"It's because he took something from me." Jon replied.

"I did no such thing!" Uriel stood up in outrage.

"I meant Sam, but you too," Jon beckoned with his hand for a few seconds until he finally gave in and handed Jon his wallet back. "Where's the money?"

"What money?" Uriel playing dumb caused Jon to chuckle, but only after confirming that the rest of his belongings were in place. Uriel didn't miss how the holy rank hunter paid special attention to the picture of Uriel's father, but didn't ask any questions.

"I don't know when, but someone broke inside one of my safes and stole something from me. An ancient artifact known as an Aztec deathwhistle..."

"No, not that!" Nika cried making Uriel question if she actually knew what it was.

"Stop pretending you know what that is... idiot." Said Luna who had no clue of what it was.

"Of course I know what it is. It's a whistle made from human bone, it's used in a ceremony to summon the dead."

"That's right, Nikki." Jon nodded.

"Forget about the mysteries of the universe, the gods, Sam's actions or how to become stronger. I want to know how do you know about that whistle thing!" Medusa exclaimed and both Luna and Uriel joined in her request by nodding.

"I'm from Mexico," Nika shrugged as though that explained everything a smug smile rising up on her face when she realized nobody else but Jon knew what it was, not even Uriel. She used her trait to shape the shadows in the form of reading glasses on top of her face.

"In the old religion the gods Ehecatl and Mictlantecuhtli, respectively the god of wind and of the underworld, guard the entrance to the underworld and they meet once a year, in the 'día de todos los santos'."

"That sounds made up." Medusa said, yet nobody said a word. Luna looked at Nika with genuine admiration for the first time ever, had she not been also shocked by Nika's knowledge about such obscure myth she would have remarked the parallel with the festivity known as Halloween.

On his end, Uriel was busy pulling on his collar to cope with the sight of a true beauty speaking about something closely related with archaeology, specifically about a lost civilization.

"It's not made up! My Abuela used to tell me bedtime stories about the old gods and traditions." Nika made a pout when she noticed the spark of admiration they held before disappeared along with the shadow glasses.

"What Nikki said is true, but I'm afraid it's not just old bedtime stories. After witnessing the revenants summoned by the titan I think the Aztec deathwhistle might actually be able to summon the dead, but I never figured out how to activate it." Jon let out a dejected sigh, then continued. "Even if your friend is a mass murderer, I'm not better myself.

I may despise him and if I bumped into him I would have definitely kicked his ass, but the actual reason I'm hunting him is because I fear what he can do if he knows how to activate it."

Uriel's long list of questions grew bigger the more they spoke, though by that point he had realized that Jon was just as lost as himself. It was useless to ask him anything further about angels, gods or even about Sam since he already admitted he didn't know the answers, but there was one mystery that could be cleared right then and there.

"And what exactly is the reason for your visit? I take it you didn't just come to relax and bleed out our wallets." Uriel scoffed.

"I came because I need help and you're the only ones I can trust." Jon scratched the back of his head.

"Why don't you ask the Mapple corp?" Medusa asked, fearing the answer might be that her family's company was already wiped out.

"It's because they don't give a shit. If anything, they'll try to reel Sam into their fold and I won't ever see the artifacts he stole from me again. You and the old man are the only ones I trust in your entire family, but he doesn't hold the reins anymore. I need your help."

"You just said holy rank hunters are out of my league..." Uriel pointed out trying to sound smug, but then realized Jon wasn't even looking his way nor he was looking at Medusa.

"Uhm, no." Luna replied shortly.

"You didn't even listen to my proposal." Jon's voice became high pitched as he was too flabbergasted to speak properly.

"That is correct." Luna nodded, annoyed after being forced to confirm the obvious.

"Why her? Why not me?" Uriel placed himself in front of Luna pointing at himself.

"No offense but your trait is too weak and Winnie's is the opposite. Don't get me wrong, summoning stuff from out of thin air is pretty dandy, but it's not combat oriented. On the other hand, shortstuff here has the guts to do what needs to be done and the will to resist the temptation to fall to her lower instincts once she turns into a holy rank hunter.

The nature of her trait is meaningless considering she's a hybrid." Jon explained his reasoning omitting to mention the nagging feeling on the back of his head telling him there was something wrong with the tiny huntress.

"I... uhm... I can't become a holy rank hunter. I can't even turn into a heavenly rank hunter. I don't think I can become any stronger than I am at this point." Luna said in a monotone despite her raging feeling of inadequacy and self deprecation.

"Did you try crushing flux orbs?" Jon asked without much hopes.

"Yes. I was in the vicinity of a horror rank cryptid when it died and I've killed a few entity rank cryptids with my own hands. Nothing works, I'm just as strong as the day I became an ascended."

"And here I thought I had everything figured out," Jon clicked his tongue. "I could have asked Seiren to escort Winnie to see her family and ask them to give a hand in chasing after Sam. At the same time I would have been able to help Luna achieve the holy rank while Mister quickfingers here helped me unveil the enochian scriptures I collected so far."

"Pffft!" Nika blatantly laughed at Uriel for being called quickfingers. Fearing a reprisal after her outburst she quickly turned to face Uriel expecting a blow or at least a mean glare, only to found him mouth agape.

"Enochian?"
