Chapter 325: Chapter 308: The Power of the Life Scepter

The reason why a Divine Artifact is called a Divine Artifact is because it embodies the power of a True God, some even containing the Power of Laws and holding part of the authority of certain laws.

Take the Life Scepter as an example.

This is a life Divine Artifact crafted from a segment of the essence of the previous World Tree, a king among life-type Divine Artifacts.

Among all the True Divine Artifacts in the Segis World, if there were ever to be a ranking, the Life Scepter would certainly be in the top ten.

However, the Life Scepter was not a Divine Artifact of destructive nature; it was fundamentally inclined towards support and creation.

When this Divine Artifact was whole, it primarily possessed abilities envied by other True Gods: granting and taking life, enlightening and empowering souls, purifying and evolving bloodlines, and transforming and creating races.

The World Tree originally created this Divine Artifact to save certain races on the brink of extinction during the Dusk Era and to aid the benevolent ancient gods affected by the aftermath of wars.

Of course, as a True Divine Artifact, even when shattered into fragments, it still retained some Life Divine Power.

And being one of the finest among True Divine Artifacts, in Eve’s inheritance of the World Tree, the basic Divine Power contained in the Life Scepter was at a ten-thousand-level ranking!

As for the limit of Divine Power it could bear, it was even higher, easily absorbing and expending the outputs of strong Divine Power True Gods, even serving those who no longer needed Divine Artifact assistance.

And even though it was shattered into fragments, Eve could still sense that these fragments retained nearly 2,000 points of Divine Power!

All of it Life Divine Power!

If Eve were to extract and devour all this Divine Power, she could instantly surpass the 3,000 Divine Power threshold and reascend to the rank of weak Divine Power.

However... Eve did not intend to do so.

Because if she did, these Life Scepter fragments would become useless.

In other words, the Life Scepter would truly become obsolete, completely broken and irreparable...

Eve did not really lack Divine Power values right now.

Under the premise that True God entities couldn’t descend, with the Withering Heart in hand, she could completely protect herself.

So... compared to the 2,000 points of Divine Power, the Life Scepter was still more attractive to her.

Although this Divine Artifact was already shattered, and although Eve had only obtained two-thirds of its fragments... as a True God mastering the authority of life, Eve could still utilize part of the Scepter’s power.

For instance... Eve could totally purify the bloodlines of those Half-Elves with the broken Life Scepter and let them revert to being true Elves!

It was challenging for players to provide faith.

If one desired to gain Divine Power through faith, Eve still needed to rely on the native believers of Segis.

Whether she could develop believers from other races was still doubtful, but at least the Elf Clan, with their high natural affinity and origin from the World Tree, provided faith power far superior to other races.

Yet, after reviving for so long, Eve had also become aware that there might not be many Elves left in this world.

However, while Elves were few, there were many Half-Elves possessing Elf bloodlines!

And Half-Elves... were also Eve’s potential believers!

Gathering them and purifying their bloodlines was also a quick way to restore the Elf Clan’s population!

No Half-Elf could resist the allure of becoming a true Elf.

Because that meant a longer lifespan and stronger potential.

Half-Elves inherited the beauty of Elves but not their longevity and magic aptitude, making them yearn for these attributes even more.

Moreover, the vast majority of Half-Elves faced enslavement and persecution no less severe than Elves, making it easy for Eve to gain their recognition.

Besides the ability to purify Half-Elves’ bloodlines, Eve could also enhance the talent and power of Elves using the Life Scepter fragments.

Elves originally belonged to the Silver Race, becoming silver upon adulthood. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Yet due to the racial shackles from the millennia-old divine war, they had all fallen in rank, with newborns having their potential power levels capped.

Though returning Elves had already broken free from the shackles, and their levels gradually recovered, this was still slower compared to players.

And players’ bodies were different from true Elves’, having been modified by Eve.

While enhancing their leveling ability, Eve had actually sacrificed some other capabilities of the players.

For instance... the most challenging and Divine Power-consuming aspect of race creation—reproductive ability.

Yes.

Players lacked reproductive ability.

This was also why Eve could mass-produce their bodies.

Though players’ bodies could be modified, with Eve’s current capabilities, altering true Elves was more challenging.

Their bodies had formed, forcing a power enhancement, though possible, was too costly for Eve now.

But things were different with the Life Scepter.

Even incomplete, Eve could enable native Elves’ strength to recover quickly and keep pace with players.

While simultaneously reducing her Divine Power consumption to an acceptable level.

Additionally, with the Life Scepter, the cost of resurrecting players would further decrease.

Moreover, embedding the Life Scepter within her entity allowed Eve to enhance her root’s ability to absorb Void Energy from the void!

Of course, doing so meant the world’s magic recovery speed would accelerate further...

In other words... obtaining the broken Life Scepter was truly Eve’s greatest surprise.

And if she could successfully repair this True Divine Artifact...

Eve was stirred within.

If Nidhogg could attempt repair, then why couldn’t she, as the Goddess of Life?

Besides... she was meant to be the Life Scepter’s owner!

With that thought, Eve closed her eyes, carefully sensing the Life Scepter’s condition and attempting to simulate the repair in her mind...

However, after a moment, Eve’s brows gradually furrowed.

"The difficulty in repairing this True Divine Artifact... was much greater than I imagined..."

"Unless I extract another segment of essence from my entity and incorporate it into the Life Scepter’s fragments, otherwise... solely relying on Divine Power and nurturing with my origin might take several centuries or even millennia to repair it!"

Thinking this, Eve shook her head helplessly,

"This time frame is too long for me to endure... Moreover, although I am now out of a near-death state, my entity has not reached the previous extent where removing an essence segment was of no concern."

"Unless I gather the remaining third of fragments, otherwise... I cannot repair the Life Scepter in a short time."

"Such a pity..."

Eve felt quite regretful.

And upon this realization, she suddenly had a thought,

"Wait..."

"If even I can’t repair the Life Scepter... then how did Nidhogg manage it?"

"No..."

Eve’s eyes gradually narrowed,

"Was Nidhogg... really repairing the Life Scepter?"

With that thought, she decisively stood up from the divine throne.

She snapped her fingers, and then... vines began to appear within the divine temple.

Each vine tightly bound a desperate believer brought by Eve into the underground hall through teleportation.

In the Divine Country, these believers were entirely cut off from external contact, ensuring Eve had no worries about them exposing her secrets.

Now, it was time to read their soul memories and uncover Nidhogg’s secrets.
