After Frank chose the option he wanted Ruby to evolve into, he quickly looked at the system notifications that appeared one after another.

Right after that, and in that very moment, Ruby glowed incredibly brightly, almost blinding Frank. A cocoon of light encompassed her completely.
"Agh!"
Frank thanked himself for having set a proper barrier, as he saw Ruby rapidly evolving into… something else.
The little dragon absorbed all the light into her body, growing larger, almost at the same height as he was.

Frank saw at first hand how Ruby's entire existence was rearranged, reconstructed, and then reborn from her former self.
The light absorbed every particle of her and transformed it! Frank was able to see how the System worked as closely as possible, realizing just how truly powerful it was.
"Wow, this is just insane…"
As he stepped back while squinting his eyes, Frank saw Ruby change completely, the cocoon of light dissipated over time, leaving behind small sparkles of light here and there.
FLAAASH!
And as the light fully dissipated, another damned ray of light emerged, from her eyes!
"Aaagh! I swear I'm going blind! Ruby, stop it!"
And then, as Frank rubbed his eyes and slowly opened them.
"Raaarrr!"
Ruby was there, as big as him!
Above all, her changes… they were too notorious.
"I-Is this really you, Ruby?!"
She had become slender, with red and golden scales, her cute face remained baby-like though, with big golden horns.
Her wings were gold, and she had a long tail that ended on a fluffy end with golden fur.
"Raawwrrr!"
Ruby didn't hesitate to jump over Frank with her new form, shining as brightly as she was, she began licking his entire face.
"Ugh, e-enough! Ruby!"
As Frank complained, he saw more system notifications, this time with the changes that happened to his loyal monster pet.

Frank was left speechless; Ruby had actually become stronger than him at his current stats and levels!
Maybe he could become stronger once he Changed his Class, however.

Ruby roared cutely; she was so proud of herself right now.
Frank patted her head and then gave her some more mana crystal snacks.
"Well! I'm glad you got stronger; this will surely make our battles a bit easier from now on… I hope," Frank sighed. "For now, before changing my Class, I should check the other things I got…"
Frank opened his inventory and checked the other items, there was a book among them, alongside two equipment pieces the monsters had dropped, thanks to his System.
"So this is…"
He placed the items side by side.

As Frank touched the egg, he quickly felt his Mana being drained.

"T-That hurts!"
He placed his hand away from the egg, which was still hungry for more.
"It drains my mana? what sort of item- No wait, that's not an item."
He recalled how it happened to Ruby; he had obtained her egg first and then she hatched from it pretty simply.
"So that's a monster egg, huh? Fine… let's see."
He quickly placed his hand on top of the egg again, feeling his Mana being drained constantly over and over and over again…
FLUOSH!
As he felt his Mana being drained, Frank started gasping for air.
"Aaaggh…! C-Come on, how much do you even want?!"
As Frank desperately pulled his hand away once he noticed Ruby was panting and growing tired from her Mana being almost exhausted.
FLAAASH!
The egg shone brightly… or well, not so brightly, but rather like an umbra.
The darkness coming from the egg expanded like black light itself, even if such thing didn't exist.
The black light continued to expand and then retracted until…
Crack, crack…!
Tiny cracks in the eggshell appeared, followed by a black, strangely smelling goo coming out of it.
"Ugh, is this egg rotten? Maybe we failed to let the creature be born?"
As Frank was worried about the worst possible outcome…
CRASH!
The eggshell shattered into pieces while something emerged from the egg's interior...
"Gebo!"
And it was a tiny, hand-sized black slime!
"Huh? A black slime… Oh wow this is cute…"
Frank smiled, looking at the little black slime.
It had a small red mark on its body too, resembling the Artificial Familiars created by Medea's Dark Magic.
However, it seemed obviously different, it was smaller and much weaker for once, and Frank…
Instantly felt a connection with it.

Now that he looked at it closely, it smelled like plastic rather than any nasty sludge.
"Why do you have such an weird smell?"
As he wondered, he quickly came out with a name on the go.
"Okay, Blackie would be too stupid. Let's call you Onyx!"
Onyx, a rather popular black stone, this slime was pitch black, so the name fit for Frank, at the very least.
