Chapter 15: Intruder Arc (1)

The evening was pretty damn awkward but it doesn't matter, tomorrow everything will be resolved.

Mina and I both went to sleep on our respective beds, but alas only one of us closed their eyes this night: me.

It was at around 2am that it happened: the door of our dorm was quietly opened and I saw a silhouette appear at the entrance.

"It's him..." I said in my head.

The villain of the intruder act didn't use some kind of sick magic to capture Mina, he just forcefully opened her dorm room and captured her in her sleep.

And the reason why she didn't wake up with all that noise was because...

"Time to use to powder" he whispered to himself before taking something from his pocket and blowing in his hand to spread it inside the room, it was high level sleeping powder.

He obviously knew that I was in the room but he didn't bother to even check if I was asleep or not as he thought the powder would do the job easely.

And I thought so too, I expected to stay awake to watch him do the deed just to make sure that the events of the novel went accordingly, then I would fall asleep because of the powder.

The thing I didn't expect was... to still be awake.

"What?" I couldn't understand how that's possible, the powder could put a middle-class monster to sleep in an instant.

Yet, here I was, still awake and kicking...

And I didn't have to wait long for the answer as the system window appeared before my eyes.

[New skill: Status Resistance]

[Why would you get affected by such puny tricks? Your hatred aura blocks most types of status changes and leaves you unaffected by them.]

Such a convenient skill...

But along with it came another problem: I had to now watch as Mina was kidnapped.

I also wanted the sleep powder to stop me from watching it happen but now it was ruined.

And the thing that scared me the most as I saw the man lift up Mina from her bed and start walking away.

Was my anger meter.

[Anger meter: 99/100]

My rage was getting the better of me, yet I knew I needed to calm down.

"HOLD ON, HOLD FUCKING ON" I was screaming internally.

And right after the villain took Mina out and closed the door of the room behind quietly.

I looked back at the anger meter.

[Anger meter: 99,9/100]

This was close... if it happened to reach 100, I probably wouldn't have been able to stop myself from activating the hatred skill and trying to save her.

But I knew I couldn't do that, because if I acted upon my own feelings and rescued Mina right now, then she wouldn't meet the protagonist and I don't want to risk any loophole in the plot that could put the world at risk.

I couldn't sleep that night because of the anger. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝔀𝒆𝒃𝒏𝓸𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝙢

It was the next day and I was in the cafeteria, waiting for the lunch break to end, it was a tuesday morning after class.

I felt like shit, I hadn't slept the whole night, and couldn't rest.

The students had already noticed the disappearance of the elf, and a lot were discussing the matter.

But the teachers didn't know what to say and pretended they hadn't heard anything, and just kept doing their work, ignoring the rumors.

Of course the first thing people did was gather around me to ask if I knew anything.

"Kaine, where is Mina?"

"Do you know something?"

"Tell us."

And so the questions never stopped, they wouldn't leave me alone, and the fact that I was acting weirdly wasn't helping.

I had to wait a little bit more before the protagonist would come and save her, then the students would know the truth and they would stop asking me.

Practival class ended after that but Mr.Volt noticed the absence of the elf too, yet nobody knew about her so he dropped the matter.

***

As I walked out of the class and arrived in the corridor, I felt a gaze on me, it was Daemon.

"..." he didn't say a single word, but I could feel his piercing eyes, then he suddenly stopped and went back to talking to his close friends.

It weirded me out a bit but didn't think for too long and assumed his look was just a coincidence, afterall, even if the protagonist thought I had information, he wouldn't have gotten the hint of where the villain would take her, which is why I gave him the note so that he can catch him in the act.

Now all I needed to do was wait for Daemon to go to the hallway and save Mina by discovering the scheme.

***

"Where the fuck is he?" I was nervous.

I looked at the time on my phone and saw that it was 7:03pm, well above the time I ordered him to come here.

"Did something happen?"

I had waited beside the hallway the entire day since the moment the last ended and didn't even move an inch, and the protagonist still wasn't here.

I knew there was no way the protagonist wouldn't understand the hint and figure out where the secret room was, it was impossible, the author didn't even try to explain why Daemon found out the location of the room and just left the reader's imagination to think that he did something after seeing the villain talk about his plan.

So then... what was going on?

"No, no" I shook my head as weird thoughts starting piling up inside of it.

"There is no way the main character isn't coming."

I needed him to come.

***

Ten more minutes had passed since my last reassuring thoughts, but he wasn't here.

And the last thing that brought me to the edge was the sight of the brown haired beastmen appear out of nowhere and move the painting to enter the room.

[Anger meter: 99,99/100]

"..."

I stared into the air, blank.

"What is happening...?"

Everything was going the opposite way it was supposed to, and yet, nothing was making sense.

"Why did Daemon not show up?"

That's right, the main character did nothing, and the villain did the deed successfully.

I... I don't see the point in waiting anymore.

[Anger meter 99,999/100]

If the main character really has to come 5 days from now to save Mina, just so that she can suffer and become dependent of him...

Then I refuse to follow the plot of this shitty story.

Even if it destroys everything later on, even if it creates a massive loophole...

"I..."

I entered the hallway and headed towards the painting where the secret room was.

"I will do it myself."

[Anger meter: 100/100]

[Skill: Hatred, activated]
