Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Persuade me with just a kiss.

In the evening at Huating, Shen Zhiyi thought about this matter while applying a facial mask, hesitating about how to bring it up to Pei Yu.

The smell of agarwood in the living room was a bit strong because the butler had briefly lingered there with clothes that had been perfumed; now her clothes were also scented several times, but the fragrance was slightly masked by the scent of her skincare products.

Pei Yu was conducting an online meeting, and for some reason, he didn’t go to the study. Shen Zhiyi watched her script quietly, occasionally stealing glances at him, searching for the right moment to speak.

The butler even walked softly, bringing over a fruit plate and asking Shen Zhiyi if she needed anything else.

She shook her head, her voice as light as a whisper, “No.”

Stealing another glance at Pei Yu.

Assured that she was no longer needed here, the butler tiptoed back to his room, and finally, Pei Yu took off his headset and looked over at her.

He raised an eyebrow, “Why do you keep looking at me?”

With the mask on, her speech was a bit muffled, Shen Zhiyi first asked, “Are you done with your work?”

Pei Yu pushed the computer away a bit, “Come over here and see for yourself.”

She walked over and saw that the computer was on a document page she didn’t understand. Shen Zhiyi had only glanced down briefly when Pei Yu took the opportunity to hook her waist and pull her into his embrace. She sat on his slightly outstretched legs, resigned, “Aren’t you still busy?”

Chin resting on her shoulder, Pei Yu continued browsing the document, unrushed, “It doesn’t matter.”

After accompanying him looking at the document for a while, Pei Yu seemed to realize that she had something to say and proactively led the conversation, “What do you want to tell me?”

Careful not to rub the mask on him, Shen Zhiyi sat up straight and hesitantly mentioned that Qin Xiaoran wanted to borrow the Muse for an event.

“She asked you to ask me?”

One could guess it was that girl’s idea, otherwise, why would she speak to him about it?

“Yes, do you agree?”

Pei Yu didn’t immediately express his stance. He closed his computer and had her sit facing him on his lap, looking down indolently.

“Convince me.”

Shen Zhiyi was stunned for two seconds and completely out of ideas.

How was she supposed to persuade him?

She struggled for a while, “Xiaoran said she really likes the Muse and just wants to borrow it for a party, she won’t be too extravagant—”

As she spoke, she began to doubt herself, not at all like a skilled advocate, “If you mind, then forget about it, I’ll go tell Xiaoran…”

“Zhizhi,” Pei Yu had to interrupt her; if she continued, she would kill the subject herself. He was exasperated yet amused, teasing her deliberately, “Xiaoran asked you to plead, and you’re backing out already?”

Shen Zhiyi was at a loss, feeling that she hadn’t been diligent enough, but it was the first time she had ever made a request to Pei Yu, and she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable at all… so she could only apologize to Xiaoran.

“Convincing me is actually very simple, think about it, okay?”

Far from letting this perfect opportunity slip away, Pei Yu rubbed her earlobe and encouraged her methodically, “Try a bit harder, even for Qin Xiaoran’s sake.”

Grasping his wandering fingers, Shen Zhiyi pondered hard, unsure of what he meant by a simple way to persuade him.

She acted spoiled, “Just tell me directly.”

Pei Yu chuckled softly, leaned in close, so near their breaths were audible, and in a low, lingering voice, he told her the method to cheat without hesitation.

“Just one kiss,” he said.

There was no need for her to rack her brains, to persuade him—it was that simple.

She herself was the reason he agreed.

Her breath catching slightly, Shen Zhiyi blinked slowly, saw the faint smile in his eyes, and heat swept over her, burning all the way to her earlobes. She turned her head slightly, placing a hand against Pei Yu’s chest, her words unclear as she hid her fluster, “The mask…”

Pei Yu didn’t move, just touched the wet mask paper on her face, feeling its peculiar cold, slippery texture, “When will it be ready?”

He wouldn’t allow Shen Zhiyi to shy away, not even a turn of her head. As their eyes met, the meaning behind his words couldn’t be clearer—he couldn’t wait to be “persuaded” by her.

Shen Zhiyi stood up from his lap and hurried upstairs, “Now.”

The sound of water splashed as she rinsed the serum off her face, and in the mirror, she saw Pei Yu already at the doorway. He leaned lazily against the frame, and upon seeing that she was done, he spread his arms, a gesture of readiness for an embrace.

Her heartbeat inexplicably quickened. They had been intimate before, and Shen Zhiyi didn’t understand why she felt so nervous this time.

She walked towards him with small steps and, because of her slowness, Pei Yu reached out to scoop her into his arms and walked toward the bed, then waited leisurely.

Only a warm yellow nightlight illuminated the bedroom. He leaned back against the headboard, slightly lifting his eyes to look at her in the dim light, his gaze calm and serene, yet seemingly holding a smile.

Due to his sitting posture, his robe had come undone, exposing a large swath of skin on his chest. The sexy lines of his muscles laid bare, with a slightly darker scar at his heart standing out prominently.

Just as Shen Zhiyi knelt beside the bed, Pei Yu supported her waist, but that was all, with no further movement. He wasn’t in a rush now, quietly waiting for her to take the initiative. Even if she was slower, it seemed no matter, he had plenty of patience.

She pursed her lips and, with eyes cast down, steadied herself on his shoulder amid his patient waiting. Pei Yu tilted his face down, waiting for her kiss, but her next move was to suddenly bow her head and place the long-awaited kiss on the scar over his heart.

Under her lips, his chest abruptly began to heave, Pei Yu’s body tensed, and the painless wound, because of the fierce beating of his heart, tugged with an ache not felt in years.

Shen Zhiyi looked up in surprise, a bit bewildered, “What’s wrong?”

Pei Yu gazed at her deeply, his fingers at her waist involuntarily tightening, an uncontrollable reaction of wanting to pull her into his embrace yet desperately restraining himself. It took him quite a while to find his voice again, “Why there?”

The reason he so desperately restrained himself was to see her eyes, not wanting to miss any of her expressions, yet Shen Zhiyi awkwardly looked away, feeling a belated shyness.

“Is that not okay?”

“It’s not that it’s not okay,” Pei Yu said hoarsely, “just unexpected.”

Shen Zhiyi kept her eyes downcast. She didn’t know why she felt the impulse to kiss him there, only that she was driven to do so. She defended herself in a soft voice, “You didn’t say it wasn’t allowed.”

Looking back up at him, “Does this count?”

If it didn’t count… Shen Zhiyi’s gaze shifted downward, landing on his lips. His slender lips were most attractive when curved, heartbreakingly so when smirking. She was human, and humans are easily beguiled by beauty.

She whispered to herself, this isn’t shameful.

Watching her for a long while, mulling over his thoughts, Pei Yu curled his lips into a pleased smile, his eyes gentle, “Mhm, it counts.”

Her kiss was light, untinged by lust, yet it effortlessly defeated him.

Whatever she requested, he would likely agree, for from the beginning, the person who held the initiative had always been her.
