Fairy Tail Destiny-Chapter 219: Ch : History
Chapter 219 - Ch 219 : History
The passage inside the tunnel was extremely cold and devoid of any light source for illumination.
Nor did Noel have any intention of using magic to light the way.
In this deep darkness, the only sounds that could be heard were their own heartbeats and footsteps.
Even the concept of time seemed to gradually blur.
After what felt like an eternity, the tunnel finally came to an end, and a faint light shone through the door at the passage's exit.
Without hesitation, Noel pushed open the door at the end of the tunnel.
The blinding light immediately flooded Ed and Gray's vision, forcing them to shut their eyes tightly.
Only after their eyes gradually adjusted to the brightness did they slowly reopen them.
The first thing that came into view was a vast, empty space.
This space was highly unusual—both the floor and the ceiling were covered with various intricate magic circles of different types.
Because of the subtle interactions and delicate balance between these magic formations, the entire space appeared slightly distorted.
A dense concentration of magic energy filled every inch of the room, making Gray and Ed feel their own magic power begin to stir restlessly, as if resonating with the surrounding energy.
"Gray, step onto the largest magic circle in the center of the room," Noel instructed.
Although confused, Gray followed the command and walked onto the massive purple magic circle at the center of the room.
Seeing that he was in position, Noel gave a small nod, then clasped his hands together.
A surge of light magic erupted from his body, and a small white magic circle, identical in design to the one on the floor, appeared in his palm.
"The ritual begins—magic infusion..." Noel murmured.
As soon as Noel's words fell, the purple magic circle beneath Gray's feet emitted a dazzling glow.
In the next instant, distinct purple markings surfaced on Gray's body.
Before Gray could even comprehend what was happening, a sudden, overwhelming pain completely consumed his senses.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
Gray let out a painful scream, his entire body curling up on the ground.
However, the magic circle beneath him showed no signs of stopping—it continued to draw the markings from his body, relentlessly pouring magic power into him like an uncontrollable beast with no restraint.
"This is... a magic infusion ritual?" Ed asked, watching the scene unfold as he turned to Noel beside him.
Noel nodded. "Yes. Over the past month, I had Gray take on all the powerful monsters and magical beasts we encountered along the way. One reason was to rapidly build his experience in life-or-death battles. The other was to force his body and spirit to continuously strengthen through cycles of extreme exertion and repeated injuries."
"Was it to expand his internal magic container, allowing him to store more magic power?"
"Hmm... You could say that's partially correct, but there's more to it. The truth is, this technique isn't perfect. For one, it has strict limitations on who it can be used on—it only works on people whose internal magic power hasn't reached a certain threshold. Ed, your magic power has already exceeded the technique's effective limit, so it wouldn't work on you at all."
"Uh..." Ed could only let out an awkward chuckle.
"On the other hand," Noel continued, "once this technique is activated, it cannot be stopped until the ritual is complete. If the recipient's magic container and mental fortitude aren't strong enough, they could either have their bodies torn apart by the sudden surge of magic power and die, or lose consciousness from the unbearable pain, never waking up again."
"That really is a dangerous technique," Ed couldn't help but sigh, having experienced something similar himself.
He then added, "But it does make sense—after all, it's a shortcut. If there were no risks involved, that would be even stranger."
"Mm."
Noel glanced at Gray, who was still struggling within the magic circle, let out a small sigh, and then turned toward the other side of the room.
"Ed, I'll leave Gray in your care. If anything goes wrong, don't hesitate to destroy the magic circle. This infusion process will take about half a month. You'll also need to handle food and water for him. I have other matters to take care of."
"Got it." Ed nodded in response.
Watching Noel's figure disappear into the depths of the room, Ed then retracted his gaze and looked toward Gray, murmuring to himself, "Noel-nii is not in a great mood... It seems like this place is somewhere he really didn't want to return to."
.............
A secret chamber deep within the room.
Noel silently gazed at the ancient, blurred inscriptions on the chamber wall, softly reading them aloud.
"Year 632 of the Divine Calendar—The War of the Gods erupts. The northern continent is reduced to ruins in the battle between the Lord of Light and the Lord of Darkness, sinking completely into the boundless ocean..."
"Year 657 of the Divine Calendar—The Celestial Spirit faction is drawn into the war. The Lord of the Celestial Spirits joins the battle..."
"Year 689 of the Divine Calendar—The gods grow weary of the prolonged war and decide to settle the conflict in one final battle, after which a truce is signed..."
"Year 697 of the Divine Calendar—The final battle begins. Due to the violent clash between the Lords of Light and Darkness, a great anomaly (text unclear) emerges, splitting the world into two completely opposing realms. Upon realizing its true nature, the gods descend into madness, leading to the War of the Apocalypse."
"Year 707 of the Divine Calendar—The Lord of Darkness uses (text unclear) to solidify the anomaly. The Lord of Light attempts to intervene but is besieged by the enraged gods and forced to retreat."
"Year 721 of the Divine Calendar—(Text unclear) is activated, paving the road to the summit with corpses and blood. The gods engage in indiscriminate slaughter, countless ones fall. Divine blood stains the land and sea, and the chaotic aftermath distorts the world."
"Year 732 of the Divine Calendar—(Text unclear) is severed. The Lords of Light and Darkness fall. The Apocalypse of the Gods comes to an end. The Path of Heaven is shattered, (text unclear) is broken. Its fragments are scattered to the corners of the world."
.............
As Noel softly finished reading the last word, he fell into silence.
His long silver hair draped over his face, completely obscuring his eyes, making it impossible to discern any trace of emotion within them.
"Lia..." Noel murmured the name, followed by a faint, almost imperceptible sigh.
Though the inscriptions on the stone wall were incomplete, he had already begun to piece together some clues about Lia's actions.
"I don't know what your true goal is, Lia... but I do know that you are treading a dangerous path. If... if you have truly taken the wrong road, then even if it costs me my life, I will bring you back. This is the fate I have sown, and it is my responsibility to resolve it with my own hands."
His barely audible voice echoed through the secret chamber.
Gripping the massive black sword on his back tightly, a flicker of unwavering determination flashed through Noel's eyes.
