"Those are the sounds of submachine guns, sniper rifles, and machine guns firing, as well as the explosion of condensed fireballs!"

His body was still slowly materializing but Feng Luo's ears recognized the sounds clearly. He already knew where they were coming from.

"This is bad! Are the monsters here!?"

Feng Luo's heart tightened.

However, he quickly paused, knowing something was abnormal.

"Wait, that's not right. Dai has already run out of bullets, so why are there sounds of a machine gun firing?"

Not only had Dai run out of machine gun ammunition, but Burnt and Run were already dead. So where did the condensed fireball come from? Not to mention the sniper rifle!

As his body gradually materialized, Feng Luo could clearly see that Mu Zi and the other three were nowhere to be found. Mu Zi and the others did not wait for him at the location where he went offline!

It was clear that something had happened.

However, his body could not move. Even though he wanted to know the real situation as soon as possible, he could only wait in place.

When players reconnected to the game in the wild, they received a punishment.

They would not be able to move or attack in the first ten seconds of going online. But during this time, they were vulnerable to being attacked by monsters or other players.

All things taken into consideration, it was still not too bad. In some special missions, if a player went offline and the area had an ongoing battle, the system would prohibit players from going online.

The mechanism was put in place to prevent some people from using such a method to set up ambushes or to create tactical plans that were against fair play rules.

After a few seconds, Feng Luo's body could move freely again. He immediately ran up the stairs.

He decided to ascend because he had already identified the source of the battle sound. It came from the military base ruin in the desert.

Feng Luo quickly ran up a few stories towards the partially covered building they had initially entered. By the time he reached it, Feng Luo was more relaxed.

He calmed down when he found Mu Zi and the other three in a corner of the room. The building was completely dark and they were looking outside through a tiny hole hidden in one of its walls.

From inside the building, Feng Luo could tell more clearly that the battle sounds came from the outside. It originated from a place that was quite a distance away from them.

"What happened?"

Feng Luo's voice startled the four other soldiers who were focused on looking forward.

They turned around quickly to see who it was and relaxed after seeing Feng Luo.

One Pillar Skyward instantly greeted Feng Luo. "Brother Feng! You're back!"

Feng Luo asked, "What's the situation outside?"

One Pillar Skyward answered, "After you logged out— think it was about two minutes ago — we heard sounds of gunshots coming from above.

"So, we quickly ran over here and saw that two SUVs were driving here from the desert. However, they were probably trying to run away from someone, since over a dozen other SUVs were pursuing them from behind."

Mu Zi added, "After we found out that something was amiss, we quickly turned off all the lights. Plus, since the Legendary scout bracelet has anti-detection skills, they may not have found us yet.

"The people at the front probably discovered this ruin. It seems like they wanted to use it to block their opponent's long-range attacks. That is why they escaped to this place. But it looks like they were unlucky. When they got through, one of their SUVs was overturned by the enemy!

"So right now, the first group has already entered the ruin. The second group is still attacking from outside."

"So, they are players?" asked Feng Luo.

Mu Zi nodded and replied, "Yes, they are all players!"

Feng Luo frowned.

Players. It was unusual for two groups of players to appear in a high-level zone in the depths of the Death Desert.

More importantly, the location where the two sides were engaging in battle was right above the military base where Feng Luo and his team were hiding.

It is important to note that the straight distance between the space battleship and their current position was less than one kilometer. Moreover, the Terminal and the location directly below them were connected by various underground corridors.

If the players above them got lucky and accidentally discovered the underground part of the ruin, the plan he had just discussed with Mu Wu would be greatly affected!

No one would be able to withstand the lure of a space battleship that promised ridiculous returns.

"How many people do they have?" asked Feng Luo with a serious expression.

"The first group has a total of around ten players inside their two energy SUVs. The second group has over a dozen SUVs. So, there are probably at least 50 of them..."

"For fear of being detected by them, I have not used Detection. The feedback of the Recon Meter isn't completely accurate," said Mu Zi.

"This means that there's a total of around 60 people." Feng Luo's expression seemed to have relaxed.

There were over 60 people outside while they only had five. The difference was ten-fold.

And the difference between the first and the second group was also too large. From their escape, it seemed like the first group knew that they were no match for their pursuers.

As such, it was highly likely that the battle outside would end with the second group achieving victory.

If so, the victorious party might continue exploring this ruin!

After all, a ruin like this sitting in such a high-level zone probably had not been explored by anyone yet. Since the monsters were too strong, getting to a location like this would require a lot of luck.

Feng Luo's group had been lucky not to have been wiped out by any monsters while they had ventured out at night, so they wanted to stick around and explore the ruins themselves in more detail.

By then, the secret of the underground city might not be safe.

Due to its proximity to the underground city, the secret of the space battleship might also be lost.

"We cannot let them explore the ruin!" Feng Luo's eyes were very serious. He had already made the decision.

Normally, he was a person who avoided trouble as much as possible. His attitude was to leave others be – as long as they accorded him the same courtesy.

However, that was under normal circumstances. And this was not an ordinary situation.

When it came to important matters where he could not back down, Feng Luo was never soft-hearted.

He was determined not to let these people discover the space battleship.

Even if he had to intentionally attack and kill all those other people.

...

Feng Luo got up and observed the room, using the red glow of light filtering in from the sand outside.

Before long, he found another hole in the wall that gave him a view of the exterior. He walked a few steps over and leaned towards the hole to look outside.

From his vantage point, the first thing Feng Luo saw was the walls on the edges of the base. Both the groups were moving towards the base. About a dozen or so SUVs belonging to the second group was in hot pursuit of the first group. The pursuers had opened fire and were unrelenting in their attack.

With a glance, Feng Luo estimated the people inside those SUVs amounted to around 50, just as Mu Zi said.

Although most of the players appeared to have decent equipment, their gear was not all the same. At the very least, most of them had Excellent-grade equipment, making them slightly above average players.

Of course, to Feng Luo, these were meaningless. As long as they weren't Heavy Armor Warriors with Legendary-grade items, a normal player like these guys, even if fully equipped with Rare-grade gear, would be killed in one shot.

Would Feng Luo feel remorse and be unwilling to kill all these people since there was no prior conflict between them?

Hehe...

"Hmm?"

After a few seconds of observation through his peephole inside the dark building, Feng Luo's expression suddenly stiffened.

He had noticed something else. When these players turned to face him directly, vague red dots appeared on their chests.
