First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 2050 - I’ll Open Your Eyes
Chapter 2050 - I’ll Open Your Eyes
He’s soon to dissipate? Xu Xingke’s heart sank.
But Su Yi remained as calm as ever.
Given Gongye Futu’s abilities, he’d likely long since sensed Daoist Master Endless Tribulation’s existence.
“I rather admire people like you who’ve fought their way to survival through turbulent spacetime. Unfortunately, if you stubbornly refuse to learn what’s good for you, you’ll still struggle to escape death in the end,” Gongye Futu said slowly.
“That so? I don’t believe it.” A hoarse female voice rang out.
The crowd looked over and saw radiant purple clouds churn beneath the distant skies, outlining a delicate figure.
She was a woman in purple, surrounded by a rain of light. Purple mist rose around her, and although her features were shrouded in light and thus indecipherable, she had a dazzling, transcendent air about her.
“Master!” The white-robed woman on the blue tripod cauldron lit up with delight.
Uproar ensued. The woman in purple was the ruler of Nine Li Mountain, the Nine Li God Queen! The master of yet another forbidden zone!
The air was increasingly stifled and heavy. An austere atmosphere extended throughout the surrounding area.
A staredown between existences of this level was far too terrifying. It would be difficult for the other gods to intervene.
But Gongye Futu seemed entirely unconcerned. He just said casually, “Since you’re here, come on out. Allow me to open your eyes. I’ll show you the gap between a grain of rice and the radiance of the full moon!”
The crowd was stunned. Even Su Yi couldn’t help but take another look at Gongye Futu. He seems so scholarly and polite, but deep within his bones, he’s quite proud, huh?
Meanwhile, as Gongye Futu’s voice resounded throughout the entire area, more and more hidden figures emerged from all sides.
All of them had terrifying auras, and every last one of them ruled over a forbidden zone!
In the end, including Daoist Master Endless Tribulations and Immortal Queen Nine Li, there were thirteen of them in total! That was outside of Su Yi’s expectations. He’d figured that eight of them would appear at most.
Who’d have thought there’d be more than that? The implications were obvious: the Eight Great Forbidden Zones were just the places people knew about. There were several other as-of-yet-unknown ones out there, too!
But the rulers of the forbidden zones merely appeared here as avatars of will. Su Yi was increasingly convinced that his initial guess was right on the mark: the rulers’ true bodies were restricted by the power of turbulent spacetime, just as Luo Xuanji had been in the City of the Lost. Moreover, their existence was taboo, and they faced the threat of calamitous tribulations. None of them could escape their respective forbidden zones!
Of everyone present, it was the two Heavenly Gods of the Kingdom of Lasting Light who looked the most unsightly.
They didn’t have any reinforcements coming!
Fortunately, the rulers of the forbidden zones completely ignored them.
“Fellow Daoist, if we join forces, do you think we’ll be enough to seize the Epoch Spark?” asked Daoist Master Endless Tribulations.
“No,” said Gongye Futu. “Also, don’t call me ‘Fellow Daoist.’ We aren’t equals, so you’re unworthy of addressing me as such.”
Daoist Master Endless Tribulations was stunned, as were the other rulers of the forbidden zones. Who is this guy? Why is he even more pompous than that mysterious old codger, the River Lord?
“Mind if I test that?” the Nine Li God Queen said icily.
Gongye Futu laughed and applauded. “I told you I’d open your eyes, and I naturally can’t go back on my word. I would advise you to attack together.”
With that, he took a step forward, and...
Boom!
Heaven and earth swayed. The endless void shattered like the surface of a mirror.
Countless eye-stinging black talisman markings of the natural order surged out of the gaps and into the firmament, blotting out the sun.
Most terrifying of all was that the talisman markings merged to manifest a world. It was as if a boundless plane had appeared before them.
Every god present felt their hair stand on end. All of them felt suffocated.
The thirteen rulers of forbidden zones exchanged glances, then attacked practically simultaneously.
It was like the descent of the apocalypse. Everyone but Su Yi and Xu Xingke felt a piercing pain in their eyes, and then, they saw no more.
Su Yi and Xu Xingke, meanwhile, watched as Gongye Futu walked through the air and waved his hand. A talisman marking of the natural order flew through the air, cleaving through time and space to freeze the avatar of a ruler of a forbidden zone where he stood!
In the blink of an eye, the other twelve were similarly frozen in space. The black talisman markings froze them mid-movement, leaving them unable to budge in the slightest.
It was a strange, unsettling scene, and it was extraordinarily shocking!
This is power beyond that of a Master God... Waves of emotion crashed through Su Yi’s heart. Indeed, it’s just as I expected. My first incarnation’s ‘errand boy’ has undoubtedly stepped onto the River of Destiny!
Otherwise, he could never have suppressed the avatars of the rulers of thirteen forbidden zones with such casual, understated ease!
Xu Xingke stood there, wide-eyed and gobsmacked. He looked completely dazed. A battle grand enough to shake all worlds ended, just like that?
The thirteen rulers of forbidden zones were not of the present day, but they were comparable to modern Master Gods. Even though they’d just sent their avatars, they could have suppressed anyone beneath the Master God level.
Yet now, they’d been suppressed as soon as the battle began. What kind of power was needed to accomplish that?
“Your aptitudes and strengths are indeed rare, and you’d have dazzled any era you’d appeared in. Otherwise, you could never have found a path to life amidst turbulent spacetime. Unfortunately, you just had to go and provoke someone you really, really shouldn’t have. You brought your misfortune upon yourselves.” Gongye Futu shook his head.
He returned to Su Yi’s side, then snapped his fingers.
Bang!
The thirteen frozen avatars of will exploded simultaneously, like thirteen resplendent, colorful fireworks going off at once.
The gods recovered their field of vision just in time to witness this, and all of them were dumbstruck. The battle’s over already? The rulers of those thirteen forbidden zones are all dead!? What on earth happened?
They couldn’t help but break out in cold sweats, but no one offered them any answers.
Instead, Gongye Futu said, “Very well. I’ll just send you on your way. Farewell!”
He waved his sleeves, and throughout heaven and earth, time and space were thrown into turmoil. Endless winds surged forth, and the gods were like fallen leaves swept into fierce autumn gales, carried uncontrollably away.
In the blink of an eye, all of them had vanished.
“Now we can finally enjoy a little peace and quiet.” Gongye Futu let out a long sigh.
Xu Xingke was dazed.
Su Yi, meanwhile, was thoughtful. He’s no more than a wisp of soul on the verge of dissipating, yet he’s this unreasonably strong. How powerful must the true body of someone who’s stepped onto the River of Destiny be?
“Fellow Daoist, it’s about time I left.” Gongye Futu turned to face Su Yi, a hint of anticipation on his face. “I predict that it won’t be long before you return to your former peak and step onto an even higher path!”
He was already as indistinct as could be, like a rapidly collapsing illusion.
Su Yi clasped his fist. “Many thanks.”
He knew that if not for Gongye Futu, he could never have resolved this situation so smoothly or easily.
Gongye Futu smiled, waved, then scattered into a rain of light and dissipated.
Xu Xingke finally broke his silence and asked, “Who was that senior?”
“An errand boy,” said Su Yi.
Xu Xingke had no idea what to say to that.
The two of them returned to the Tower of Ancient Evils next. Xu Xingke was badly injured, and he needed urgent medical care. freёwebnoѵel.com
A day later, once he had recovered somewhat, Su Yi decided to set off.
Of late, one terrifying opponent after another had appeared before him. Even disregarding the Kingdom of Lasting Light, the strange inhabitants of the forbidden zones gave Su Yi a strong sense of crisis.
He needed to increase his strength as soon as possible. Otherwise, he could forget about escaping the River of Epochs alive, let alone making it to the God Domain!
“The River Lord should be back soon. Can’t you wait a little longer?” asked Xu Xingke.
The old man’s behavior left him at a bit of a loss for words. He’d promised to return within six months, but more than half a year had passed, and there was still no sign of him!
“I’m not going to wait for him.” Su Yi shook his head.
“The Epoch Spark is the key to the Path of the Ancient Gods,” said Xu Xingke. “That’s why the rulers of the forbidden zones were so desperate to acquire it.”
Su Yi was stunned. Wait, you can use the Epoch Spark that way?
“To Great Realm experts, the Path of the Ancient Gods is a trial ground leading to divinity. Practically all those who survive it become gods,” said Xu Xingke. “Furthermore, numerous supreme opportunities at divinity, both past and present, are hidden there. However, if you don’t have an Epoch Spark, you can forget about stepping onto that path.”
He paused, then said, “And the entrance to the Path of the Ancient Gods lies in the Kingdom of Lasting Light.”
Su Yi was stunned. After a moment, he asked, “It seems I really must carry out my plans to visit the Kingdom of Lasting Light.”
The Nine Great Heavenly Gods of the Kingdom of Lasting Light had issued rewards on his head—twice. Su Yi felt a deep enmity for them, and he’d long since planned to go there and vent it.
Now that he knew that the entrance to the Path of the Ancient Gods lay in the Kingdom of Lasting Light, Su Yi had no reason not to get revenge!
“The experts of the forbidden zones are targeting you, and the top orthodoxies of the God Domain stand behind the Kingdom of Lasting Light. I’m sure they’ve heard the news,” warned Xu Xingke. “If you go to the Kingdom of Lasting Light now, won’t you just be throwing yourself into their net?”
Su Yi laughed. “They can’t touch me. Not if they want to enter the Path of the Ancient Gods.”
“They want to enter the Path of the Ancient Gods, sure,” said Xu Xingke, a strange look in his eyes. “But who among them isn’t far hungrier for your power of reincarnation? I’m not saying this to hurt your feelings, but as a warning. I urge you to reconsider.”
He gestured to himself. “Look at me. Pretty brutal, right? If not for that ‘errand boy,’ I’d have died here today. The way I see it, you’d best wait for the River Lord to come back, then make your decision.”
Su Yi clapped him on the shoulder. “This is just the kind of opportunity I need.”
In the end, nothing Xu Xingke said could dissuade Su Yi. A day later, the Sword of Proximity carried Su Yi upstream through the River of Epochs.
It was a long journey to the Kingdom of Lasting Light, a month at the very least, and he’d have to pass through numerous travelers’ outposts along the way. Su Yi planned to find one, sell off some of his extraneous treasures, and buy new divine medicine.
During his half-year overcoming the Tower of Ancient Evils, he’d practically burned through every last divine medicine he had on him. He needed to replenish his supplies.
I’ll reach Spirit Grain City within a day at this rate, thought Su Yi.
Suddenly, his eyelids twitched, and a moment later, the Sword of Proximity rumbled and carried him faster through space.
Boom!
A dazzling beam of golden light exploded out of the River of Epoch’s depths at unbelievable speed.
It was headed straight for Su Yi!
